  1. +1 ^^^^^ it is not necessary unless you know for a fact that you need to reseal due to a leak or something else...
  2. There are soooo many seafoam threads that you may not get the answers you seek here with your post. A search or following the links to similar threads provided below will serve you well. It has been done a gagillion times before and I think hydro-locking shouldn't be a concern (although I'm just a shade-tree mechanic so what do I know...) I've seafoamed both my 84 and 95 without ever having this issue. I recommend that you read and follow the instructions on the bottle. It is a great product, but putting it in the gas and oil alone won't make it smoke. Only through the intake will this occur. Seafoam in the oil is a matter of choice. Personally I only use it in the gas and through the intake (thru pcv and central vacuum hose in TB). For the oil, I use MMO as a substitute for 1 quart of oil. Doing this with religious oil changes did wonders for my beloved Subaru piston slap. Good luck and happy smoke-out !!!!
  3. If it were my Soob, I would run a compression test and a vacuum test. It may reveal something... I'd also suspect the coil pack. It may be on its last leg. In the pitch black darkness, while the engine is running and at operating temp, spray some water (using a mister/sprayer) around the wires and coil pack. If you see arcing you have found a potential source of your misfire. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
  4. +1 on what johnceggleston said. Just this week I did my timing belt ('95 2.2) but I followed the kit's recommendation on the marks... engine turned over but wouldn't start... flooded my engine and spark plugs were dripping wet. I went back in and referred to the many articles here and on the net regarding the timing marks. Sure enough, i did it wrong. After fixing it the engine began purring like never before If this is the source of your woes, its a simple fix and you'll be rolling in no time... good luck! Keep us posted...
  5. Thanks Bill!!! High quality work from BOSS... highly recommend it if you do not have the equipment or setup to do it yourself. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=916089#post916089
  6. 6 lug swap with the high quality work from BOSS (6-lug-swap mod service in Vendor section)... highly recommend it! Thanks Bill! Here's a pic of my new setup. Need to do a little bfh work and trimming as it rubs quit a bit... but these are 235/75 R15s (roughly 28") on toyota rims and stock height (cranked up). Picked up rims w/ tires locally for $10 each I'll probably throw on 215s or 205s... not sure yet. I think a lift is next...
  7. referring to v-belt for WP and Alt; but come to think of it, this wouldn't affect ign timing after-all. Wasn't referring to the timing belt that the beloved ea81 doesn't have.
  8. Your wiring is correct from coil to disty. Hmmm... It would run seemingly fine even If ign timing were off, just tough to start. My guess is 1) ign timing and 2) plugs. You could take some emory cloth to the disty contacts and see If that helps.
  9. Just taking a stab at your problem... how's the ignition timing? How old is your belt? Stretched out maybe? 1-3-2-4 firing order, and make sure the first cylinder to fire is in the compression stage, not exhaust. Before cranking it, take the disty cap off and see where you're at. If you need to correct it, turn the crank nut and determine compression phase by finger in the plug hole ()... hope this helps... this has been my experience with your description...
  10. 95 Legacy wagon just hit 200,000 yesterday! 84 GL wagon hit 116,000.
  11. PM sent I have an 84 with front disks and rear drums. Many thanks!
  12. True & true!!! Welcome Angus! Stick around and you'll make that "beater" live forever... Well, close to it.
  13. Thats nearly impossible to believe with that yellow paint-job... unless he's color-blind... or just plain blind! That really sucks man! Incredible turn of events. Best of luck!
  14. Thats super clean! Congrats on the score! seafoam = good times
  15. According to the FSM when 2 & 4 misfire, is one of, or multiple of the following three: Spark plugs Fuel injectors Skipping timing belt teeth If the results of your injector power research prove inconclusive, I would check out your timing belt. Hope this helps.
  16. I couldn't find this tip on this board but did find it on Endwrench. If its already in here, sorry for the duplicate. I didn't notice any looseness on the BR wire but I gave it an extra push into the connector. P0130 hasn't shown up in over 2.5 weeks, and it was coming up every day after clearing, sometimes right away. Hope this helps somebody. Quoting Endwrench: "If you encounter a DTC P0130 on a 1995 Subaru Legacy, check that the BR wire in connector B22 (16 pin/light gray–Main Engine Harness) is properly inserted into the connector. This connector is not shown in any wiring diagram related to this code."
  17. Yup! I was like... :-\ Definitely good time-frame... March-April... I'll stick to the unplowed parking lots for now...
  18. Yeah, it was too precarious for my liking. Went out to recon the area. There were plenty of parked cars to indicate wheelers were out and about. i didn't feel confidant enough to venture in and seek them out. It was deep and icy... looked fun though. Some other time maybe...
  19. No we've never met. In fact this would be my first run at it. Name's Fred. Nipper, no biggie. But it would be nice to meet up with you. If you can't make it this time, then maybe another time. No worries.
  20. I know it way too short of a notice but just wanted to throw it out there in case anyone's Sunday is open. I'll be at the Atsion Ranger Station at 9:20 until 9:45 ish ready to go wheeling. If anyone can join me, great! If not, let's set up another day and time (I'll still be there this sunday). Here's where this originated... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=108688 Happy snow-wheeling to all!
  21. Can't edit title but correction noted. Yeah they're sturdy and heavy duty stands. Picked them up from an old-timer cleaning out his garage. Unfortunately these were one of the last things he needed to get rid of... apparently he had all sorts of goodies. I'll need to take another look at the label but I recall them saying made in USA, but could be wrong. I love how tall they are and the wide base. I spent $25+tax for those dinky Big Red 2 ton-ers And for $5 Dude... you got a deal for those heavy-duty jumpers... Gotta love the bargains.
  22. Welcome SoobGirl! Love to see pics of your Brats!
