when you hit the switch the shows a strip of red under it. I do agree that people here need to get a sense of humor. When I make jokes here everyone gets all butt hurt. So I don't make jokes anymore. I don't agree with your idea that subaru didn't put any planning into the new gen of cars. There's a reason why the legacy won easiest car to work on (or something similar) in 91, and it's not just by accident.

Do you mean the chimney or do you mean the coil cover? If it's the coil cover you don't need that it's only for dress up. but the chimney there's no good reason to get rid of it. It allows cool air to flow onto the turbo while moving and allows hot air to escape directly through the scoop while stationary. Come over to bbs.legacycentral.org

ah okay I believe they're all pretty similar, but of course you'd have more space in a wagon. Dunno if the forester actually has more cargo room or not as compared to a legacy/outback but I believe it's got more ground clearence than a legacy, not sure about outback though. I wouldn't think imprezas would have as much space seeing as how they're smaller in general. I do believe that all have the same towing capacity, which is supposed to be 1 ton. though I don't think I'd be towing a ton's worth of crap in/behind my legacy as far as offroad, none of them are 4wd so no real offroading will work well. the awd system hasn't changed much if at all from 90 to present, manual or auto. though the outback does have VTD, which someone once noted the SVX has aswell, but there was no real conclusion to that. Honestly I don't see the purpose of buying the outback simply for VTD. All the 4eat's can distribute power to both driveshafts up to 50/50 but I guess VTD is more rwd based or something. anyway, if I messed up on something someone please correct me

That makes no sense. First of all, having the fuse in puts the solenoid in 100% duty and 100% of the power is transfered to the front wheels. Secondly by your logic, a 5mt would get 40% worse gas mileage than a 4eat. but we all know that 5mt's get better mileage. Also by your logic, if one was to disconnect the soleniod all together you'd be getting 100% power to the rear wheels and as such would be getting 100% worse gas mileage, and that's just redicilously silly.

nope, his ej22e is opendeck, just like almost all other NA ej-series engine -
Like it said before it puts duty solenoid C into 100% mode, which is bad for it. Normal operation is 90% I believe, which would be when the split is 90/10. Also I think most the time it's not in normal operation. No it's not easier on the solenoid to leave it at 100% cycle, that'd be like saying, if you just inhale a lot of air and don't let it out it would be easier on your body, because you wouldn't have to stress your lungs. Obviously you'd die, and so will the solenoid. As benebob said, leave it in fwd mode, and you'll have to get it replaced. According to your mpg increase, and lets say you drive 10k miles a year, it would take you about 3 years just to break even with replacing it (which you WILL have to do if you keep running it in FWD mode) if it is ONLY 600 (I assume it's more)

I think you mean differential. The dipstick should be there for it. It's funny that usually people see the diff dipstick before the ATF dipstick. I dunno what to tell ya, but just look over there in that area. It's not that low on the tranny case. The hook should be about at the hieght of the top the tranny maybe a lil higher.
