  1. just went outside and connected the green connections.. I hear the fuel relay working and SB1 and SB2 under the hood are good.. I tested the pump connections and I see a quick battery voltage every time the fuel relay turns on but I hear no pump in the tank. I'm looking at rock auto here now for pumps.. a lot of them seem to have one with two wires (black & red) and one with a plug in connection.. while I haven't pulled my assembly yet does anyone know off hand what type it is? Would this work? I think it means the whole pump plus strainer? Speaking of that is it necessary to replace the strainer anyways? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-SUBARU-LEGACY-FUEL-PUMP-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ade56a311QQitemZ390277276433QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

  3. So I'm about to go out and test.. and searching here I have a question.. I know people say it's rare for the fuel pump relay to go bad but I still want to test everything.. The green connections under the dash if I connect them the fuel relay should click on and off like every 1/2 seconds right? I just want to make sure I have 12V to the pump.
  4. Does mine have a plug on the pump? I might pull the unit to test.
  5. I've never seen one with wheel dollies... I think he would of just been better off with just the flatbed no matter what it was.. It really sucked because he was the only one in town and he had 10 other pulls after when he first dropped me off so it took about another hour 1/2 wait.. lucky for me a 24 hr laundromat was across the street.. my feet started to get frostbitten. *edit line off at the filter.. the output to the engine or the input? Or it does not matter?
  6. I dunno.. I just walked in.. I had to wait for the guy to bring the right truck.. he had one for a 2WD car.. I wore the wrong kind of shoes tonight.. I needed my boots.. I did check the intake duct it was not split or anything. i was searching on my phone while waiting for the truck and a few other people had issues like me like running in the store for 5 min and coming back to a car that wont start. it's too damn cold out right now (going to be 8F tomorrow) So from my searching on here.. it could be... Fuel filter (replaced about 2 years ago) Fuel Relay Fuel pump CTS (replaced less then 12 months ago) I did keep the old CTS however.. So the story of what happened at Home depot was odd but I guess the sputtering when trying to get it to run was the left over fuel from the fuel filter? Because after the few cranks I did it no longer sputtered it just cranked and that was it... So in the morning besides taking off the fuel pump outlet line and checking for flow what else should I check?
  7. I have the same issue as the op I think its a dead pump.. I have a bad habit of driving around on empty or a bit under. I have 235k on my car 95 legacy
  8. It has to prime.. When I last connected my fuel pressure gauge it would always prime just turning to on.. I made a youtube video of that.. Now that I'm inside and not in a 19F car now when I was driving to HD I noticed a slight lack of power but the car idled fine at the few min I had to wait at the light.. Only took 5 min in the store and went to leave and now no start.
  9. Hmm put in $20 still wont start its going to be awhile...
  10. This is going to sound funny but I was never able to hear it when the car was running well.. Last time I checked it was in the fall
  11. Spark I can do but I have no tools to pull fuel line Before leting the car sit for awhile it would stumble trying to run but letting it cool it wont try to catch over now.. Like I said could be fuel or fuel pump. Im just waiting for AAA to get here now. Edit I see spark from the pack
  12. Had to run to home depot and I came back out to to start it and it wont stay running at I cant tell if its the fuel pump or low fuel
  13. I have not looked at the whole thread but possible bent wheel? I had that happen and it made the thumping sound
  14. is that a decal?
  15. good thing I plan on replacing the clutch when the weather warms up.. I still dunno why I got locked out of first when trying to pull out the Subaru. Oh well they are saying might get another dumping of snow
  16. hmm interesting... I know when the car is not running the lights are fine.. in the morning the lights will be fine until maybe 3-5 min later. I will check my alternator again but I don't know how many times I have to keep checking it. my volt is crappy cheap LED's since I have about 2 good bulbs that won't flash when the car is running.
  17. nope these are really flickering sometimes while driving some sections will go off I think it the crappy cheap components that make up the LED.
  18. heh I put LED's in mine bright enough to know I have my lights out during a sunny day.. However the superbrightleds.com website I think I got a crappy batch of the bulbs they flicker now if my dash brightness is up too high. I just don't have the time to pull them and put them on a variable voltage power supply to test them.
  19. I'm going to guess it's the same setup as my 95 Legacy with twist lock bulbs? A friend is asking me to change his bulbs because one side went out and the shifter bulb is out too all this happened over the time of a few years.. the way he was wording it like it happened all the same day.. I've taken my gauge cluster out before so I'm guessing its the same on the '02?
  20. damn can't find my pictures.. but what has been said above.. I blew my front diff because it ran low.. i started hearing it howl on the highway.. so I pull off at the next exit.. tried to make it to the dealership or autozone but taking off at no more then 5% throttle it blew up pretty much in the worst sound you ever want to hear and split the case as that... diff oil was all over the place. I don't think it can be saved if it was howling and I refilled it with fluid? Nevertheless I miss the forester. Found them
  21. haha last time I drove a manual was back in 1996.. when i got my current subaru I had to like drive it around the block with the shifter and all haha now I really don't put much thought into it.. However when aiming for 5th gear I can hear the shift linkage make contact with another gear when I move the shifter over to push into 5th. Something to do over the summer.
