  1. Yeah but a clear over flat black wont it give it a semi-gloss shine? It's really no big deal I just want to repaint the car one color. The only rust spot I need to take care of is the passenger side rear panel just above where that black piece goes. Both fenders could be replaced because both are dented in.. but so have I seen most 2nd gen wagons.. very easy to dent them just leaning over into the engine bay.
  2. that day when i changed it out.. i wonder how much the dealer upper costs
  3. Hopefully this stuff lasts a good long time wont be pulling the motor now until Friday of next week because I have to shuttle all these people around.. Going to put the engine picking together so I can get it out of the car. I still can't find out about the valve clearance in the manual under the DOHC engine section.. I know it was something like you had to subtract or whatever to find the right replacement shim? Also from what I think I heard GD say here was it was mostly the exhaust valves that needed adjusting and the intakes are fine?
  4. So what type of paint to spray for black then thats not flat? I'm not sure how semi glossy would look
  5. A deeper tone but not overly loud.. when I change my headers should be a bit louder..
  6. That's what I was about to suggest... I did that with my wiper arms and they look good. I took a wire wheel to them however
  7. hmm interesting.. mine was flaking when I got the car I haven't touched it yet I don't know.. chrome look or black again?
  8. Not sure why but I heard back from Permatex and NAPA should have it.. the larger package of it is like $16 for the gasket stuff. At autozone and advance they just have RTV and the right stuff going to pick it up from Napa this weekend.
  9. I got one of those Energizer LED headlamps (3 LED) best $14 I've ever spent.. like you I got tired of the flashlight in the mouth It's so awesome to have free hands!
  10. Thanks for the tip I already have the separator plate it's been on the shelf in the closet for about a year. I already picked up the 14mm 12pt socket it's in the picture shown above but in the plastic bag. I just sent a email off to permatex because this past weekend I searched Auto zone, advance auto and pep boys.. all the way in Orange, CT and STILL unable to find it... So I asked them pretty much do they just not sell to these stores or what.. it's crazy I don't want to have to do it but I just might have to buy it from ebay :-/ Going to try NAPA tomorrow if nothing then I'm going to wait to hear back from permatex Napa seems to have it
  11. I will keep this in mind.. It was pretty cheap tape too.. I picked it up from shell
  12. I can't anwser your question but I saw a JDM version of an older gauge setup looked like it might of been converted over to LCD it was pretty pricey
  13. Blew the lower radiator hose last night.. used tape to hold it which did not help too much.. Tried to get a quick as I could to a place where I could get some water and spend the night till the morning.. I blew a red light just as a cop was waiting on the other side of the intersection.. I knew what was coming next but he let me go with no issues.. did lots of coasting in neutral When I did get to the place I started pouring in the water and it was very easy to tell when it got to the heads because I had old faithful.. I will now always keep some duct tape in my tool bag now

Just a little update I got it last Friday and it only came in 2 boxes the legs and other stuff in the longer heavy box and the boom and stuff in the smaller square box.. lol lifting the legs out of the cart by myself was a little funny.. trying to get it over the cart and the cart has 4 wheel steering lmao.. Mind you I'm only 125Lb and lifting a a piece that's more then me
  15. i'd have to message him to ask does it shoot with a HVLP gun?
  16. I'm sure.. I'm a direct fit is a good year hose but its on rock auto.. my upper hose could be changed as well it's kinda soft feeling.. the lower hose is a dayco it kinda fits but it has this little weird kink in it but not totally kinked.. I'm just getting home.. so glad I decided to leave the AC on yesterday because my room feels very nice after doing all that walking today... First time I did the pull the upper radiator hose today seems to work ok.. For the time being I'm running straight water Since in like 7 days I'm just going to end up taking the radiator out...
  17. I was going to buy a upper hose but the dayco does not look to be the right shape with the bends.
  18. Meh it did not last that long.. I had to buy this cheap hose tape from shell since it was the only place open at the time.. I only made it about 2 miles before it started to climb again.. It's like a 5 inch slit in the hose.. the tape I put on started to unravel.. Used cloth on the tape and still no good.. I did finally make it to a place where I can rest the night and about 2 blocks away from Advance auto.. hopefully they will have the hose.. mater of fact I'm going to place the order online and just walk in and pick it up tomorrow. Also another thing to add on the list of things to buy when I redo the heads which I'm hoping are still ok... Speaking of hoses are the silicone hoses any better then the normal rubber?
  19. And at a time when no auto stores are open.. Any ways to slow the leak so I can drive back home about 10 miles?
  20. I'm not trying to do a show car or anything like that I only got my car for $1100, I've wondered how washing a flat black car would be.. How much extra work is it to make it so it can be somewhat glossy?
  21. Oh man I hope I wont have this issue when I drop the transmission
  22. Wow.. I would of thought the springs would of been $60+ each at the dealer..
  23. Oh lol no I'm not just replacing the disc I bet that's what the last owner did.. I wont know for sure till I see it first hand. The diff is not making any noise it's the bearings inside the transmission mainly when in 2nd gear. I'd say it's pretty tame however I've put 3K on it so far being this way.
  24. Man and just to think last year in the legacy I was hitting snow banks and in like 7 inches of deep stuff :-| the car had a EJ22 but never thought about the timing belt floating thing.. Only reason I left the cover off was that stupid part that holds the bolt behind the cam snapped and took the plastic with it.
  25. 987687 I'm not pulling the engine to do the clutch next month I'm pulling the transmission because it needs to be replaced as well should be more then enough room to do what I need to do. Who knows what the last owner did.. they "SAID" that the car had the clutch replaced.. but who knows if it was done right or if they resurfaced the flywheel or whatever.. I've come to the conclusion the reason why the tranny is shot is because of a seal that leaked and it ran low to almost nothing and that was that.. It took me about 3 weeks when I got the car to keep checking the fluids until it holds steady now. I have no real problem pulling one or the other that's why I went out and picked up the engine picker and I have the transmission jack already. As to why not do the clutch now well I'm still putting it on a not so good transmission so what's the point in that?
