Plan is to go through AAA rather than DMV for title transfer. Word is this will be less painful at AAA registering an out of state vehicle.

Figure its about time I start working on my 87 GL wagon recently purchased off of this site from another member. Got her shipped down to CA from WA. To do list: -lift around 4'' -go through motor/make reliable -bumpers -roof rack -EJ 25 swap (after dealing with CA smog crap) -show the Jeeps how its done!! Heres what I'm dealing with $15 dollars later I scored 4 Toyota 6-lug wheels with 28" BFG's and of course had to put them on with no lift. Cut the front fenders a little and moved the front end forward 1.5". When I get to the lift I will fix camber, not sure whats up with it right now as its all stock. More to come!- My New Wheeler Project.....Butters.......... **updated pics**
Damn, is Bill growing Subarus up there Mine is being picked up from Bill tomorrow and trailered down to Ca.- OEM gaskets vs felpro, and others, and who makes what
This thread has my attention as I will soon be doing HG's on my ea82 when I get it down here. I have a Subaru tech at my shop for side jobs that handles all of my motor work on my WRX and our rally car, but I will be diving into the ea82 on my own.- Let's see your LIFTED Soob off roader 2010 edition.
Current 2010 condition Mock up new suspension. 30" BFG 80" wide track width. Lots and lots of new stuff planned this year And the good old days Jackson Rally 1'' lift kit. 28'' BFGs.- Good deal on 2.5 Gallon Jerry Cans
Yeah CA blows. The last pair of decent gas jugs we got were from Idaho.- Hi again
Well with some help from Zap I've narrowed my search down to a 85-89 Hatch D/R GL I really want a hatch. I'm even willing to piece one together. I found a clean 2wd, and could maybe find a beat 4x and do some swapping. Either way I'm gonna try to hold out for a hatch.- Good Wheeling Shots! Add you favs! (Comment Free Thread)
- Hi again
Hey guys its been almost 6 months since I've been on here. In short I've been very busy racking up the miles on my wagon and with life in general but now I am tearing it down again. I like to enjoy driving for awhile but then I always get to the point to where I want to do more to it. More importantly I am in the market for an older Subaru. I don't know much about the older ones but I know I want a 2 door hatch, something from the 80's? So I will have a ton of questions. Kyle- DirtyWagon build thread
Like everything else on the car I modified the steering system a long time ago. Here is a run down of the components. Howe power steering pump Setrab power steering cooler Larger fluid reservoir/ O-ring sealed (going into trash real soon) AN fittings and lines Howe 2:1 reducer in column So thats all fine and dandy...but it has never worked like it should. The reasoning behind all of this was to run a 2:1 reducer (cuts turns of steering wheel in half) so I only have to turn my steering wheel 5/8 of a turn to make a u-turn. Problem is this doesn't allow the factory hydraulics to keep up with the new ratio. So I got a bad rump roast power steering pump made for a off road racing application. Then that led to a cooler and larger reservoir. Now with the lack of room under the hood its always been difficult getting the reservoir higher than the feed line to the pump. After moving the reservoir everything worked OK....then one day I blew a return line off of the fitting. I kinda used the lower quality aircraft lines rated at 250psi which should be fine on a return line seeing no more than 8-14psi....so I thought. Come to find out the reservoir should have a pressure relief cap and not be O-ring sealed Wonderful! Now I have to get another reservoir. So I got the reservoir on order finally cause yesterday I blew the line off twice!!!! and when it goes the fluid gets way to close to the hot turbo. So now I am running high pressure lines on the low pressure side just to be safe. Pics are coming- DirtyWagon build thread
Oh I almost forgot I had to put STI springs in the rear after all of this cause the stock springs had the rear end sitting to high.....heck I may have saved some weight- DirtyWagon build thread
Honestly I think it is about the same. I cut out alot of the car, plus I took away 9'' of height for the departure angle. I only put back in enough sheetmetal to make her air tight again. The tubing weighs approx. 1.5lbs per foot and there is just over 20' of tubing in there.- DirtyWagon build thread
No real good updates other than a broken windshield and sand blasted front end including headlights thanks to some crazy day long wind/sand storm I got caught in in the desert- DirtyWagon build thread
Thanks guys- DirtyWagon build thread
Could I just by 4.44 ring and pinion and have them installed on my diffs?- I'm on a RallyAmerica Crew!!
Awesome, I've been watching Carl's build thread on DI. You guys are going to have a blast!!- DirtyWagon build thread
Nothing in the rules saying I can't. And it is a lift kit, I actually manufacture the kit....its only 1''- DirtyWagon build thread
Yes I know the 6spd has lower gears, only cause my brother has an STI. But I would like to know more about the final drive gears. (don't know anything or where to get the info) I wanna say there are some Subarus with 4.44's ??? I would like to start there. As of right now the power is great once I get moving, but off the line its like I have 5 people in it so its a bit sluggish in that respect. And there is virtually no power until I get some rpm's and thats not exactly "crawling"- DirtyWagon build thread
I would love to make it out to Moab. I have family in UT and I've already been out there twice this year. - So. California EA82 Wheeler
