On older engines with a lot of miles its pretty common, thats a little early for an 01 unless its got a lot of miles. Why not try another dealer? If its under 60,000 miles its probably covered under the powertrain warenty....If not anyh shop should be able to do it, i haven't worked on the H6 so i don't know how much room is in there and how much that would run.

Yup at the exact same millage (68k) i changed to the same oils you did on my 01 Impreza OBS 2.2l, I'm almost to 80,000 miles now and I noticed the same change in gas millage you did about 2 more miles on avrage.

This happened to me for a while, I was really woried about it being something expensive. Then i realised i was stupid and I had left the ball in my hitch and it didn't fit perfectly. For some reason it only happened when I started and stoped the car.

I think he just wanted to change the belt, for that its just a bolt that i think the alternator slides up and down on if I remember right lossen it up and take the belt off....

I've got an 01 impreza OBS 5speed 78,000 miles that is getting close to time for new brakes. I've still got the OEM ones on there, they are alright but not great especialy with towing a good sized sail boat. What kind of brake parts do you guys use? I was looking at EBC green stuff pada and EBC rotors on Tirerack.com, they look pretty expensive but if these will either last longer or stop better i'd pay for them. I've heard brembo rotors are good too I think? Anyway i just wanted to get some general oppions about bake parts to use. Thanks!

What kind of rubber lube? Where do you get this? Silicon lube or greese work?

I've got these on my OBS and they are great, girlfriend has them on her Altima and it hard to get the wheels to spin in the wet which is inpressive for that car. They are very loud though but it doesn't bother me to much...

I noticed the same thing when I got my Impreza, I got it used and cleaned out the throtle body and that made it somewhat better but still pretty stiff.

hi all, getting a bit worried about my 01 Impreza OBS tonight i was driving and heard sounds of water moving, i looked back and there was some white smoke but that could have just been because its a cool night. When i stoped i looked into the coolant overflow and saw bubles coming up. I know i have the EJ22 in this car and thought this was suposed to be more relible then the 2.5. The car overheated for less then a minute a week or so ago because of the dealer putting a fan relay back in the wrong place but the water temp gauge didn't even get all the way to the red before i stoped it. Am i looking at head gaskets soon or is it something cheaper. I just got this car 4 months ago to replace a 88 GL wagon which may be proving to be more reliable.

I think i had the same thing happen, if mine broke at the same place you are talking about i was able to fit what i think was a 1 7/8" X 2 1/8" flange adaptor thing that you can find at the parts store in there and screw it in. had to do some triming to make it fit right but it was on there for about 3 months before i had the cash to fix it right and it was decent. don't quote me on those sizes it was a little bit ago....

well today i messed around a bit and figured out that one of the fan's wasn't working. After i found out Subaru wanted over 200 for one of these i starting messing around some more and looked at the relays, it was missing! I've owned this car for 3 months and have not found this out untill now. my question is in the relay compartment there are 4 spaces for fan relays they are labled Main Fan 1, Main fan 2, Sub Fan 1, Sub fan 2. The only one with anythign in it is main fan 1 when i put a relay into main fan 2 both fans start up and everythign is good. does anyone know what the other 2 spaces are for, should get relays for them to? thanks for your help.

so today i was sitting in trafic on I-95 with the A/C running, i really only use my AC when i have people in the car. anyways i look down and the car is running a but warm, 5 mins later i look down and its about to go into the red. i turn the heat up and pull of to the side and check for leaks or anything and all looked fine i had left the egine running and it had cooled of in this time so i continued on my way. Strange thing was it wasn't a very hot day maybe 80 at the most. I've used the AC in 90+ degree heat this summer and nothing has happened. i just replaced all the fluids including the coolant about 2 months ago so i know its fresh but i also have used it since replacing things. i drove another 30 miles no problem. Does this sound like a thermostat? raditor? water pump? I did see a brat in great condition a little while later so that cheared me up a bit. thanks guys.... 01 Impreza OBS 5mt 75,000 miles

not sure if the sizes would work with for yours but i've got a set of BFG traction TA on my OBS and bridgestone weather handler's on my GL wagon. Both have been quite good in the snow. i always try to get a all weather tire thats as close to a snow tire as possible without actually being one and i've really liked these.

alright so i found out the boat weighs about 850lbs i'm not sure about the trailer but i'm guessing it can't weigh more then 650lbs to push it past its 1500lbs limit. any sugustions for a hitch?

I have an 01 Impreza OBS 2.2l 5 speed and am thinking about towing my 20' highlander sailboat close to 300 miles with it. Is this a terrible idea? It is a double axel trailer. anything i should do before hand i'm running mobil 1 5w30 in the egine and 75w90 in the trans and dif. is there anything i will be hurting other then the clutch and the breaks. I'm also not exactly sure how much this thing weighs if anyone with more experience has an estimate let me know please. does anyone have eny reconmendation for hitches, draw tie seems to have good prices but i don't know too much about this type of thing any advice would be much appriciated. thanks....

Part 1: I'm near New Bern, NC from the DC area and just droped a kayack on my 2001 impreza outback sport broke the inner part of my side view mirror. I soon found out that there are only 5 subaru dealers in the state. No one can get the mirror untill friday, and they all tell me i need to replace the entier thing for over $200. i was wondering if anyone knew of a place i could get one sooner, I have to drive home on I95 this mon or tuse, and i was also wondering if anyone knew if i really had to replace the whole thing. its a power mirror if that matters Part 2: ok probably should have just posted twice, just got a keyless entry ket from crutchfield for the same car. the instructions look pretty clear but i was wondering if anyone who has already done this has any tips for me before i start diging into things. Thanks!

I've got an 88GL that I'm in the process of replacing, I'm looking at newer used impreza's, i've found one with everything looking good, its in good shape and has everything i want. the only problem i see with it is one tire doesn't match the other 4 i've been under the impression that you never want to do this with AWDs it doesn't look like its been on there to long and i would replace all 4 if i buy it, could this have caused permant damage to the drive train. it seems to drive well i just don't want it to last forever like my old one. thanks all. If anyone needs a Carfax run i've got that for another couple of weeks just let me know...
