  1. i had a thought, now keep in mind that doesn't happen often.. i want a lift but i also dont want a lift. and i have an ea82 so.. that doesnt work. i was thinking 4 inch lift (minus the subframe/rear diff lowering) with adjustable coil over sleeves and the upgraded rear shocks from a 4runner.. if memory serves the coil over sleeves make it sit like 2-4 inches below stock so with that logic a 4 inch lift would make it sit at stock or 2 over. with almost like a long travel kit. i can imagine it would handle better.. ive got some christmas money and a few days off.. so i thought give it a shot. i could be lifted by newyears. the problem is i cant remember what model honda the coil overs come from. that and i figured id bounce this off some peoples heads.
  2. the dome light is probably the door switch. thats what was wrong with mine.. a lil wd-40 and all better
  3. that is one clean brat! i almost bought one a few months back but the bed was almost gone and it had a very disturbing noise coming from the motor. a noise ive never heard any car make ever before.so i passed on it. its rare to see an ea81 thats not completly rusted out up here.. im glad my gl-10 came from utah.. wayy less rust. lol
  4. i cant wait to see this when its done.
  5. id go with the turbo. thats what was wrong with mine...
  6. oh and i like the idea of the ej20t swaped tracker.. make it rwd... but i have I/M to deal with. so i cant very well do a swap like that.. also looked at a justy the other day and the front suspension on the tracker and the justy are almost identical..
  7. new ball joint/hub/wheel bearing... no more growling!! oh and on another gl did almost the exact same thing..
  8. well yeah i could do that but i love my wagon.. and trackers roll very easy. go ahead ask me what happend to my last tracker.. yeah rolled it.
  9. had one. it was gutless. and the heat sucked. but it was alot of fun. very rugged mine had the lsd in the rear so it went everywhere. but it wouldnt do 65 in 4x4 with a tail wind. my gl-10 will drift doin 65.. with enough snow and some baldish tires lol..so i wanna combine the 2. maybe with an ej25 idk yet.. i wanna go non turbo tho. it'll see some water. these are all just dreams till next sumer tho;)
  10. id research the 87 ea82 rally motor. 196 hp.. pretty good.. oh and if you didnt know alot of the fuel system parts off an 83 nissan 280zx like the injectors and fpr are the same on the ea82t.. its pretty easy.more boost, more fuel, ea82 beast
  11. exaclty just weld the front diff. and drive it in rwd..or leave out the rear axle swap and just have a lsd in the rear
  12. too bad im up here in alaska id totally be down. and i got 2 wagons that run perfect and a set of 14" pug rims. the lift is the only thing i need... dam. if anyones got a cheap lift i'd buy it.. like the square tubing kind or a used kit. 2"? we need a wheelin group up here in alaska. god knows theres parts galore here. theres 3-5 85-91 subarus for less than 500 on CL up here.. most just owned by stupid people. not to mention the 1000 or so just sitting in random places around the state with timing belt, headgasket, fuelpump, problems
  13. and if it was done correctly the regular subaru lift kits would still work. ive put all this together in my head. just from what ive seen and how the 2 vehicles work. i bet you could do the same thing with toyota parts.. and i know that one of the older land crusers uses 3.70 ratios plus a rear air locker?? cmon.
  14. well i like the idea of a somewhat stock height subaru with a solid rear and locking hubs up front. would be a cool build and i think a solid axle in the front would be way more difficult.
  15. heres a front knuckle with the ball joint still attatched http://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-98-GEO-TRACKER-SUZUKI-STEERING-KNUCKLE-/200386358115?item=200386358115&vxp=mtr
  16. cmon people give me some input here.
  17. the rear is 3 link and i bet the 2 outer links would bolt up to the subaru stock locations the 3rd link would need brackets made. and the rear struts would also need brackets made. the drive shaft i bet would bolt up.. looks really close. the hard part would be the gear ratios. but i bet getting those made wouldnt be too hard.
  18. yeah. but the shock in the front is set up like a normal strut so with some minor fab work i bet it could work.
  19. and i think the 5 by5.5 is 5x139.7 close to the subaru orig
  20. it would be a cool swap tho dont you think? and without too much of a lift it would look stock.
  21. it looks like if you bolted the tracker lower ball joint to the subaru control arm you could just bolt the tracker hub/knuckle up with like impreaza struts. then have a set of subaru inner tracker outer c/vs made plumb the breaks and away you go.. in theory anyways
  22. heres a pic of the rear http://www.google.com/imgres?q=geo+tracker+rear+axle&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=668&tbm=isch&tbnid=dWAluXQsMIQVcM:&imgrefurl=http://www.cardomain.com/ride/413312/1993-geo-tracker&docid=_ra7Roi7OPb0vM&imgurl=http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/1654/1241/4133120005_large.jpg&w=575&h=431&ei=SlTeToSWIcaQ2QW2n_D5BA&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=427&sig=107323513995054988255&page=1&tbnh=115&tbnw=146&start=0&ndsp=19&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=75&ty=51 and a pic of the a lift kit /front set up.http://puresuzuki.com/3_lift_kit.htm
  23. . take the front hub/knuckle assy. off a geo tracker and put it on a loyale with a d/r you would need custom c/vs and like impreaza struts but if my thinking is correct you would end up with locking hubs in the front.. and also the rear axle would swap pretty easy too it would be the gear ratios that would be kinda pricey.. ive crawled under both vehicles and i gotta say it looks like it would work.. i how ever have not the time place or money to tackle something like that, but it would be cool to see someone else do it.. if i figurerd right it should be mostly bolt on aside from a lil welding and minor fab work. then you would have a solid rear axle front, rear or 4wheel drive subaru with a rear e brake and 5 by 5.5 lug patern.. and air locker options..like 6 birds with one stone. (srry about the typing my laptop is all kinds of messed up..) if no one gets to this before next summer i migght end up doing it would be sweet..
  24. even here in ak i had one i had a white 3door rx rusted to shirtlol but ran good. got it for $364 sold for 450... still lookin for it. i want the tranny and rear diff.. and interior
  25. this one sat since like may this year, so it started up quick everything aside from the hub is good tho. p/w p/l p/m etc etc.. a lil rust but nothing structural.
