I noticed my 96 OBS doesnt have nearly as much power as my 92 Legacy. I know my 92 was only fwd and should fell a little quicker b/c theres no awd but when I checked the throttle it only opens a little more then 3/4 wot. How can I adjust it? I know about the slack adjustment on the throttle body and that didnt really help at all. Any ideas? I would measure the voltage to see what the tps sensor is reading but my multimeter is at home and Im at school 6 hrs away. Thanks Jon

Yeah I didnt think it would cause a misfire. I know you can make a car almost stall by pushing it in when its idling. I guess if it gets stuck it can make my acceleration crappy. Im going to replace the vla in 2 weeks when I get home. I doubt thats causing the misfire but it will be one less thing I have to fix/woory about.

I am getting a cyl 4 misfire and I dont know whats causing it. I am also have a egr cel and my vla(s) is/are tapping. Could the bad vla make the engine misfire? I think the egr is messing with my acceleration b/c when I statrt off in 1st gear sometimes it takes off quick and sometimes is a little slow untill about 3k but would this cause a misfire? So far I replaced the plugs, wires, and coilpack(swaped from know unit in good working condition) Any Ideas? Thanks Jon

I know techs at dealerships work off flat rate and the dealership charges you the book rate (lets say 4 hours) even if the tech only took 2.5 hours to fix your car. So they are getting "free" money. I know the shops I go to dont use the flat rate. They charge and get paid for the hours they actually work on your car. I dont know if its like that everywhere but thats how its like by me.

Hey! I am having the same problem. Well almost the same, my idle is ok. I have misfire on cyl 4 but it hasnt been as much of a problem lately and Im also using 89 instead of regular gas and it has helped a little. I replaced plugs, wires, and coil pack. I also cleaned out egr system and hoses but im still getting misfire and I also get a erg cel too(I dont remember what it was) I havent checked into the egr stuff yet b/c all the parts are expensive and I dont hav the cash right now to fix it.

I played with it last night and I think its the switch. I got pissed and slamed the door shut and they turned off and then when I went to close the hood they came back on. When I played with the pedal they went on and off. Its just this morning tthey wont turn off again no matter what I do with the pedal. I hope I can find a cheap quick replacement.

A kid from my class just told me my lights were on in my 96 OBS and I didnt belive her b/c most if not all subies lights dont work w/.o the key in the ignition and on. I went out just to check and I found my brake lights on, as if the pedal was depressed, but it wasnt. It was raining and really windy out so I didnt check anything, just disconnected the batt for now. What should I check out besides the fuses and the switch thing by the pedal that turns the light on?

If you find yourself in trouble(sliding off the road, etc..) keep on the GAS! I know it sounds stupid but it works in AWD(99% of the time for me at least). It feels weird at 1st and you should practice in a parking lot 1st too but it has saved my butt quite a few times.

Sorry I havent replied in so long...i have been driving my gf's car around. Im going to do a compression test tonight or tomarrow. I also swaped the coil pack with my ej25(same coil pack) and it did nothing along with 93 gas. And I also talked with a subaru specialist and he said that a burn valve would misfire constanly not randomly. Im confused.

I think I also have a burnt exhaust valve I did the $ test and it gets sucked in everyonce in a while. It also misfires in real time(check engine light blinks) a few minuets after I start to drive it, every few days. What causes a burnt exhaust valve? and what effect does it have on my engine? Thanks Jon

I pulled the codes from my abs computer and I got... 34- I counted it 2 times and got 34 but there is no 34 so Im guessing its a 33 which is a solenoid valve left front 42- low supply voltage 51- valve relay problem Could any of these like the 42 cause the system to trip the 33 and 51? I dont understand how all 3 things went at the same time. The abs was fine when I bought it abour 6-8 months ago. I did swap the brakes to wrx calipers and wheels but it shouldnt of messed all this up. If anbything I might of hit a wheel sensor but it doesnt say anthing about a wheel sensor. And for now while the abs isnt working correctly. Should I leave it "broken", where it comes on sometime on dry smooth roads or should I just take the fuse out and just be super careful? Thanks, Jon
