  1. Hmm. I think I'll just put in a standard brown d/r console and move the diff lock switch...I like the XT handbrake, though, nice touch. Thanks for your input. Also, there was a red Loyale on eBay a few months ago with a tan interior, and Meeky Moose has a brown DL wagon with brown interior. So yes, they are out there.
  2. Before I post this to the WTB forum, I want to find out whether or not what I want actually exists from the factory: -Were '87 and later RXes ever available with a brown interior? I need a brown hi-rise console and a brown shifter surround for a d/r full time 4wd--with the diff lock switch cutout--to complete my grey to brown interior swap on Tony's old RX wagon. Was this ever an option or do I have to find some plastic paint? Thanks, Andrew
  3. Jack, you have an email. One key should fit all, but the lock code might not be in the dealer's computer; it's hit-or-miss. (The '89s should all still be there.) I just bought a complete set of Justy manuals and would be more than happy to send you a photocopy when they get here. Andrew
  4. Don't buy a rusty one either. Try for a GL or RS, they're a little more comfy. Good luck!
  5. The stiffness in the tranny is normal; rev-matching helps. $1700 is about right for a eBay bidding war, but not private party retail, even in Vermont. I do like the interior though. Mine is a '94 5-speed 4 door 4WD, no rust, small dent on the hatch (that happened after I got it...someone in an SUV pulled a hit-and-run in a parking lot). I paid $1,069 for it, at a dealer no less. Maintenance so far has been changing the oil twice (I've put a little over 8K on it since I got it, now has 115K). It likewise has a repaint with some overspray apparent on the grille and bumpers. I had to laugh when I saw the first photo you posted...my summer daily driver is a yellow New Beetle. Justies were sold with 13" wheels on most models after 1991. Air was an option, power steering (to the best of my knowledge) was not. I have not recently inherited a million bucks and if I had, would not be spending it on another Justy--so you're safe there. If you do decide to go for this one anyway, I think around 1100 is fair. (Mine needed new tires when I got it, but five new 13" 155/80 tires, spare included, was $120.) The mileage is a little high for a Justy, though.
  6. No rust? Grab it and throw a known good engine in it, don't let it overheat, you'll be good for another 200K. Just my .02
  7. Yes, it does. Reach between the bottom cushion and the seat back between the seatbelts and fish around for a cloth looped strap attached to a metal lever. Pull the strap (or the lever--sometimes the strap has dry rotted and ripped off), swing the bottom cushion forward towards the front seat back and lower the rear seat back for a flat load floor.
  8. Grabbed a Hotel...in Carlisle, ironically. Didn't even notice 'til I got the receipt. I'm leaving now, will call in about an hour unless you beat me to it.
  9. Nope, I got it from his friend's son, who either bought or was given the car (I'm not sure which). But I will be the third owner after the aforementioned old gentleman, and only the second titled.
  10. My sales lit and owner's manuals for '78 and '79 refer to the Brat as the Brat, BRAT, MV, Multi-purpose vehicle, and open utility vehicle. Hope this helps more than it confuses
  11. GD, I never said the Justies we got HERE, or ANYWHERE from '86 to '94 were ANYTHING but FHI products. However, just look at the external sheet metal on a '96 Justy, or visit Suzuki's and Subaru's European websites. Here's a British review of the '96 Justy: http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews/car-and-driving/subaru-justy-2004322.html Look familiar??? "Justy" Google "subaru justy"+"suzuki swift" and see what comes up. Again, I agree that all North American Justies are FHI products. I put over 200 miles on one in the last 24 hours, and my back isn't totally locked up--that in and of itself tells me the car is either a Subaru or a Volkswagen

  13. They don't share their bodies??? 2003-2005 Subaru Forester 2003-2005 Chevrolet Forester (India) Subaru Impreza WRX wagon Saab 9-2X wagon (North America) (Already mentioned) Suzuki Swift 1996-2000 Subaru Justy 4WD 1996-2000 (Europe)(4WD Subaru-exclusive) Phizinza, you know this car better as the Holden Barina of the same time period; we also got it as the Geo/Chevy Metro and the Pontiac Firefly. Suzuki Ignis 2001-present Subaru Justy 2001-present (Europe) Subaru B9 Tribeca Saab 9-6x (North America) (Cancelled when GM sold their stake in FHI...thank God.) Chevrolet Venture & other GM platform minivans Planned Subaru minivan Plan never came to fruition after FHI execs outright refused to sell a minivan without AWD and an H engine. But it was a nasty scare...There was also a rumor that the Outback would be sold under the Saab nameplate shortly before the B9T was released.
  14. You might have to pay for these, but the dealer should give you free copies. These are for '87 turbo 4WD wagons only--but you can customize the options on their website to fit your specific car too.
  15. I know for a fact only a couple of '85 wagons left the factory for the US with MPFI engines, no DL after '85 should have one. SPFI or carbed only...
  16. "you know, if you had opted for the wagon we'd both be in hospital with concussions"
  17. The best car I've ever driven in the white stuff was an '88 carbed Justy. I'll be getting my '94 back on the road tomorrow--can't wait! (No, really, I CAN'T wait--my Volkswagen overheated tonight...) I average around 35mpg in the '94, mixed driving, love the 4WD, just need an alignment and a new heat shield sometime in the next couple of months and she'll be good to go for another 120K.
  18. '06 WRX, chromed wheels, modified exhaust, WR Blue paint, ECVT and an EF10 :-) Tony, I have a newfound appreciation for your RX wagon...wow.
  19. Yup. Here's the ALLDATA listing of all TSBs and recalls, both specific to your car and general to the L-series. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/55/87552914.html Here's the Center for Auto Safety site, which, although it doesn't offer specific information, does give the NHTSA toll-free hotline number: http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?scid=98&did=554 Also, you can call your local dealer, write Subaru at the address in the above link, or call 1-800-WANT-AWD or 1-800-SUBARU-3. (Both lines open during normal business hours only.) Good luck!
  20. To the best of my knowledge all DLs MY87 and later are SPFI, 85-6 are carbed.
  21. I have the rest of that brochure, will scan and post if there's enough interest.
  22. Can you post location/specifics for the rest of us, if you've definitely decided to pass?
  23. Why pay the extra $200? Because the '75 is perfect (no dents) and if that FF1 needs glass when it gets here...let's not even go there. :-\ If I do end up back in Wyoming, I'll just take it nice and easy on the way back home. Done the trip three times before so far...why not?
  24. Yes, I still need to go down to VA...just say the word... You get that trailer hitch yet?
