  1. You'll be good with the clutch/pressureplate/NA tranny handling the power, someone up here took an EJ22 five-speed and mated it to an SVX with no problems. Not sure on the spline count though. Jesse (Subafreak) might know.
  2. Connie...I'm serious, if you want to go, you're welcome to drive my turbowagon down (maybe even the '73 if you're nice:lol:) Drop me a line when you're done with the closing. If I end up taking Mary's Brat down for her, I'll need to find someone to bring my car. 413 twotwotwo 2428
  3. I need to complete my set of 4 lug Motion rims. Please keep me posted.
  4. Er...I used to have one of those. '88 was the only year for that--'87 was DL and GL only, '89 was the new bodystyle. The RS package was still available in '89 through I think '92 though. The '88 RS package added body colored bumpers, white, silver or (gasp) gold hubcaps, and mirrors. Grey moulding with a red or blue pinstripe was available on white RSes and black moulding with red/blue pinstripe was available on black RSes. The alloys were an option. There were also dark blue velour seat inserts. All were 4WD 5-speed manuals to the best of my knowledge. Somewhere on the Brochures page there's an ad for one. There's also one (black with gold hubcaps) at Harry's in Hazleton right now.
  5. Don't even bother putting it back on...just say you replaced your dashboard. Or that someone else did.
  6. You have a very odd duck Justy, sir. Only the later Justys (the Suzuki-made ones that were never sold here) deviated. '87 through '94 were all 4 x 140mm.
  7. No, there was never a 13" version of the XT6 5-lug. The XT6 alloys had 5 spokes. (Edit: The bolt spacing on the XT6 alloy was 5 x 100mm. Subarus with that lug pattern include the Legacy, Outback, Impreza except '05 and later WRX STi, Forester and Baja. The SVX was 5 x 113.4mm and won't fit anything but the '05 & later STI and vice versa.) There was this: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/motion-alloy.jpg the 13" 4 x 140mm "Motion" alloy, but that had 6 spokes and larger centercaps. They do look similar though. (Personally I prefer the 13" Motions)
  8. Someone here put SVX reflectors on his wagon. Personally I run SilverStar bulbs, no other mods (except keeping the reflectors and lenses clean). Looks stock and works great, that's all I ask of my car.
  9. WEDGED FLATSIX BOXER-6 SOOBSIX XT-6 4X5X6 (4 wheels, 5 speeds, 6 cylinders) I'm getting Antique plate QDZTL for my '73...would also work on your '6...any guesses what that's from?
  10. Dad got box truck. Dad found out box truck gets 6 miles to the gallon (it's a GMC chassis with a 14' box and a 454 ci V8). I'm going with an auto shipper, just waiting to hear if it's OK with the seller. Should show up here sometime in May.
  11. Ya, I meant EA81, sorry about that. The RX I was (I think) 1983-4, EA81T with a coupe body. The Leone RX II that the rest of the world got was the '85-'89.5 EA82 turbo in choice of 3-door and 4-door sedan body styles. Someone just posted a pic of an RX I, it's in the "Can I mount a snowplow on my Loyale" thread in this forum.
  12. No, the EA82 engine was dead after 1984 here, excepting the Brat (Brumby) and hatch. My guess is that you have an EA81T out of a Japanese-import RX I and the RTA got the year wrong.
  13. I sure don't! Bring it anyway! And Connie, if a running/reliable car is an issue for you...you're welcome to drive something from my fleet down (how about a near-mint 360 sedan? )
  14. There was a marketplace posting about 3 weeks ago--Esteban found a good classifieds source. It's a pay-to-view-phone site, but it had a pretty good selection. Out of WNC if I recall.
  15. I paid $130 for a WRX am/fm/cass/6disc off eBay, shipped...worth every penny. (It's now in my GL-10)
  16. All EA82s '87 on up came with a body-color grille. Alloys were never standard on anything until the XT6 came out. And once again, a factory sunroof would have to slide down from the opening above the driver/front passenger's heads and into a lower compartment above the rear passengers--just like a regular GL-10 with a factory (standard) sunroof. What's the point in having a standard sunroof when you're getting the Touring package for the extra headroom?! That's why the flip-up dealer installs were so popular...headroom in the rear and fresh air up front. Also, there were 2 Touring wagons in CT, he was selling the runner with another '90 parts car. I forgot about those.
  17. As far as its position in the Subaru family...near the top of the hierarchy. Somewhat limited production (the wagons were more popular), not really sporty (not like the RX/XT/XT6), and not the most expensive/exotic. If it's an automatic, think of it as the current Outback 3.0R sedan--spendy, but not really exciting or top-of-the-line. If it's a manual, think Legacy GT-wolf in sheep's clothing. Edit: Sorry, hit reply instead of edit above. If any mods want to clean this up a bit, feel free...my apologies.
  18. An '89 GL-10 will almost certainly have an LSD, it was supposedly standard (though a couple have turned up without them). An '88 probably won't (extra cost option that year, but it was available).
  19. It's done that to me in every Subaru I've ever owned with only a couple of exceptions...the ones that didn't have voltage gauges. Can you also hear a slight humming when either of the turn signals are engaged?
  20. You can go used. Other than that...the custom fab work will either take too much time or way too much money to even come close to touching that. Personally, I think it's a great idea. I did like it in the wagon...while it worked...all ten minutes of it. But is it worth the hassle? Not for me. Maybe if it was brand new, out of a Rover...(if they're any more reliable) I'd go for it.
  21. And I finally met Mary and Tim. Thanks for your hospitality! Would you believe you're the first MA members I've met so far??! (this after living in the Spfld area for 20 years...) Shane...heh. His Grand Prix is leaking tranny fluid all the way back to WVa as I sit here typing...he got a reasonable insurance quote, only thing holding him back is the excise taxes. Which may be disappearing if Gov. Rell gets her way. He's also a member at xt6.net (or was, anyway), so maybe, just maybe...
  22. Air shocks are pressurized AND adjustable. Like gas shocks, eventually something will leak. Unlike gas shocks, the pneumatic suspension setup costs $600...per shock. Since all 4 corners usually go out within a couple months of each other, and the average life expectancy seems to be about 60K for a complete redo, it's no longer worth the money to replace even one shock--you could buy a complete Soob for less. I think it was subyluvr2212 that let the air out of his XT6 for autocross once. You might PM him and find out. I do recall that whomever did do it, said the car handled great afterwards. I had an XT6 with a complete, working setup for a while, as well as a GL-10 Turbo (automatic pig) wagon. I didn't really care for the air ride in the XT6 but it suited the wagon well. Don't think you could get it in a manual transmission wagon in the States, though (and in my opinion that's just as well!)
  23. No, body color grilles were standard as of '87...maybe a custom job? JDM wheels? You've got me on the wagon wheels. "Subaru" on the back and "Loyale" on the side mouldings; cheesy DL-style upholstery; lack of cargo area light = Loyale. Analog dash and (I think) dual-range would be GL. GL Turbos would have had a pushbutton 4WD setup. GL-10s will have a digital dash, full-time 4WD automatic or 5-speed with a locking center diff in '89, as well as 8 cloth-covered buttons on each seat. Brown, blue or gray upholstery--full cloth (white would have had a blue interior).
  24. A dual range would've been an '89 GL, SPFI. I don't think turbos had d/r transmissions in '89.
