IM BACK!!!! well possibly at least! I am looking at a couple of subes, as the bug has caught up with me once again. Not have a car to drive on the outer banks among all the big trucks bothers me, now that I only live an hour from there. I had the desert camo 6 inch lifted brat, sold to the dude in FL. and the FIRST 3dr lifted coupe in the states, sold that to John in Indiana. Going to look at two subes today and tomorrow. I want something EASY to work on, EASY to mod, enough power to go on beach, or rock crawl, and good enough gas mileage. Can't find any EA81 Wagons, so I am looking at EA82's First one, 85 EA82 Wagon, brown, dual range 4x4, 5 speed stick, asking price is 850 second one, 86 GL10 Turbo wagon, push button 4x4, 4 speed auto. Just had turbo serviced. I have had an 87 3dr coupe, dual range, 5 speed, so I am familiar with them, it was carbed, and I put a weber on it, still, with a 3 inch lift and 27 tires, it. I was satisfied with its power, tho lacking sometimes, but it had NO problem offroading and kicking rump roast on the beach, or crawling over rocks. I know the turbo has about 110 hp, but lacks the low gear., and is automatic and that presents its own problems. I am looking to put a 4inch lift on, either a PK davis if he decides he can build one, or one of my own making, as I can do it, just not the time for the aggrivation, either 14 or 15 peugots with approx. 27 offroad tires, of course, tinted windows, cd player, etc. want to tow a small trailer sometimes for trips to lowes, etc. Need to fit myself, wife, 9 week old baby in car seat, 4 year old on in booster seat, and sometimes, my 12 year old daughter. THANKS for the info.. and hi to all my buds!!! you guys remember me from the 2004 meet in Carlisle! Mike mikldom@yahoo.com

My compliments to you sir. I have an old 88 (two to be exact, one is for an engine transplant). I am partial to the 4wd, and possible rally aspect of mine. I usually don't care for what us stateside called "riceing", but yours is done tastfully, and is very attractive. Keep us updated. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com

Now, I think this was a waste of 6 pages of true B.S. I am not knocking the idea.. go for it.. prove them all wrong.. to me, seems far fetched, but I don't have the imagination of some..

Sheet of Plywood hits my soob on the freeway

In VA, the deductible for uninsured motorist, whether it is a bodily injury, or, property damage claim is $200.00 and that is ONLY if they cannot identify the other driver. I know, been doing insurance is this wonderful state for over 15 years.. anyways.. don't take any crap!!!. File the claim, and if they mess with you, just tell them the next call is to the commissioner of insurance, the attorney generals office, or any other related governmental oversight. Uninsured motorists is a tricky coverage. Because it would be your insurance company paying for it, they could try to find a way to weasel out of it.. they don't want their profits affected, and look for the loopholes that were purposedly built into alot of the policy forms, thanks to the recent federal government administration. anyways.. good luck!!!!.. you should be able to claim for it.. take pictures, get the hard copy of the police report, and keep us posted to where it goes!! distributor stuck in block
Mikldom replied to snowstormer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
At the mount, all that was left with the ring that you bolt the disty too. I had to get underneath, and use a loonnggg socket extension and a 3lb hammer and lots of p.b. blaster. and beat the hell out of it from the bottom. Had a junkyard disty from a 2x4 anyways... to put back in. after I found tdc, slipped it back in, fired up.. was off a tooth, pulled it up, turned it, and backed it back down and was able to adjust it properly for timing has worked perfect ever since. Kudos to Scott for organizing.. he was the glue that got us all together.. However humble you may feel Scott, if it wasn't for you, I am sure we would not have the sucessfull meet we had. about 10 or so vehicles represented, only about 4 were lifted tho. Scotts, (BIG brat), Mine (desert camo brat), Beerhart/Ben (tonka wagon), and Subafreaks freaky industrial EA82 wagon. I did manage to get some pictures, but I will let others post. The server space I can use is a little funny, as I upload to my brother (lostwater), he then sends me links back to post.. so,, I guess I will post my pictures in another thread. I did enjoy the company, and the good time. My son was pretty good, with the exception of his little exploration without me, but it turned out well. Now.. we need to organize and offroad suby meet for us lifted subys.. I get mine out enough camping and offroading, but it would be cool to get other true offroad ready subarus out. In fact, the wife and I are going camping in Nelson county (down 29 from Charlottesville, turn on 56, near Crabtree Falls) the weekend after memorial day. Will be a fun time!!! anyways... thanks again, and I will make the next one as well. I am a suby fanatic for life, tho I like my jeep too Talk to you soon. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com

Keep your fingers crossed!!!!! Directions to the meet anybody? I was relying on following scott, and campground? coming from Eastern Va.. so 95N from Richmond/DC directions would be nice. Thanks.. not sure if your three counted me!! anyways... I will be riding with you guys in my 6inch desert camo brat.. I have a c.b. and it will be cool to chat with the guys. Also, I can put my hands on a set of bed seats in good shape, but it will cost me some money to secure, so it will have to be enough to make it worth my while.. I can bring them, if somebody agrees to a price of at least 115.00 anyways.. looking forward to it.. I will bring some groceries. I think I will just buy the goodies that are missing and be able to eat at the "cookout" with you guys. let me know. Michael Dominesey mikldom@yahoo.com 757-477-7036. Thanks.

Scott, I have a 140 watt inverter... Will probably run the 13 tv/vcr. I can bring my 9 inch tv/vcr that runs on 12 volts if need be. I plan on bringing my Laptop, and some dvd movies.. I am still planning on being at your place early Friday Morn. I am coming with my 3 year old son.. so no bars or anything for me while up there... I don't really go places anyways. I am sharing a space with somebody.. on my email, forgot his name. anyways.. I am gonna wash the sandrat up to make it a little more presentable, but I am not gonna worry to much about it... It is a cool, capable 1984 Brat, and who cares if the majority of the show is about ricers (not us Ultimate Subaru guys). anyways.. I am sure I will be talking to you guys soon. yahoo me if you want : mikldom Mike mikldom@yahoo.com

Justy - ECVT swap to manual shift
Mikldom replied to LostWater's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think the ECVT is a C.F.I. unit, my 88 (with bad engine) is carbed... Also.. if mark and I get this one, the body is in the newer style (89), and in better shape.. so if we get it.. we would have two 88, one with bad engine, the other crappy body but with good engine/tranny, and an 89 ECVT with good engine, crappy ecvt tranny. so... I think it makes more sense to take the tranny from the crappy bodied one, and put it in the ECVT, and take the engine from the crappied bodied on to put in my 88 that the engine is going on it, but the rest of it is in great shape. so question still out there, needs to be answered... can a 88 5speed pushbutton 4wd tranny go into an 89 with a crappy ECVT, and if so, how hard.? any experiences? Thanks again. Mike Lostwater's (Mark's), twin Brother mikldom@yahoo.com -
Justy - ECVT swap to manual shift
Mikldom replied to LostWater's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The junk justy that is sitting up there, I want the engine for it.. Mark can get a good engine/bad ecvt justy, which we think will be real cheep.. also... the good engine/bad ecvt is a 89 I think, will a tranny (4wd pushbutton 5speed) from a 88 go into it? Newer body style and all.. Thanks. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com -
Justy Sewing Machine!!! maybe sell? help repair?
Mikldom replied to Mikldom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Since yes, I do have another justy with an engine that could be made to run, I just may keep it and swap the engine, but, if somebody offered me $350.00 (or more) for it, I would be inclined to sell it. otherwise in two weeks or so, I am driving it up to mark's in the mountains, and leaving it, to swap the engine out later.. (when its warmer and the days are longer). Mike mikldom@yahoo.com -
Justy Sewing Machine!!! maybe sell? help repair?
Mikldom replied to Mikldom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sorry,, I found somebody on Ebay selling a head for 99.99 so, for 100 bux and another 100 for a gasket set, I could make it much better for 200.. i don't want to get to far into it at this point tho.. but, if anybody offers me the right price for it, I would consider selling it. Has factory Racks, window tint all around, nice upgraded speakers all around (MA Audio). anybody, let me know. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com -
Well, I Bought my little 87 Justy back in October.. been a great little car, but apparently, it was run without oil before I got it.. The engine has always been a little noisy, but now, it is terrible, still has power, runs good, but sounds like a sewing machine on crack!!!! also, when revving at 2500 rpm or so, and let off a little, you an hear a slight rod knock/tumble. The time has come to retire the justy. It is still in great shape but it needs an exhaust valve in cyl no. 1 (head job), and the rod knock, I would not pay much attention to it.. I am probably gonna park it at the brothers and work on it later, as I don't really want to get rid of it, as it is really worth something, BUT if somebody offers the right price, I would probably let it go.. Don't worry, I am still in the Suby hobby with my desert camo, 6inch lifted 30x9.50 tires, BRAT. Just letting it around here.. not really a for sale add, BUT, if anybody knows how to remedy this quick and fast, let me know. can I just replace the exhaust valve by itself? on car, or does the head need to come off? Thanks for reading, Mike mikldom@yahoo.com Va Beach, VA

How to prevent a kinked (flattened) radiator hose?
Mikldom replied to sub87dl's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Advance has hoses of various lengths that can be turned and twisted into any shape. They have a spring inside to keep from getting kinked. I have one that is about 10inches long for the lower radiator hose in my desert camo 6inch lifted brat. Just thought I would add my expierence. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com -
Brake line developed a leak on my Brat
Mikldom replied to benebob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I lose almost all my brake fluid when the brat sits for a while. I have a leak from the same area.. My brakes have always felt "spongy" could a hole in one of the lines cause a spongy feeling, but take a long time to actually get to point of leaking, then, leak a lot? I am thinking I have to replace my brake booster, master cylinder etc.. no big deal, as I have two or three junk cars at my disposal. Any thoughts? Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
