  1. Bigguns.. No seriously EA81 have a 36 mm axle nut justy has a 27mm.. which I think equates to 1 and 1/8 inch. Mike
  2. take a look at those pictures again.. that was two weeks ago (the weekend before thanksgiving).. we had shorts on during the day when it warmed up, and the weather was so beautiful. Now look.... The blue ridge is sitting in 6-8 inches of snow..!!!! Virginia is a funny state with the weather sometimes.. last week, I left here (Va Beach), it was 71 degrees on friday afternoon, and I was wearing shorts... I got to Interstate 81 out by roanoke (about 250 miles west of Va Beach), and it was freaking snowing!!!! and I was still wearing shorts!!!!.. that cold front came in and it was a shock! last saturday morning it must have been 20 - 25 degrees with wind gusts from helll... chapped my damn lips and face being outside... I know.. that is nothing compared to Alaska and some northern states,, but that was only one day later from wearing shorts!! anyways.. Scott, I need to drive up to N.Va. to get together... next time I goto the Luray area, I'll drop by to say hi, or next time to D.C. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  3. Now that you got 8" of the whitestuff in the New River Valley, I am sure you are glad that you and I spent a couple of hours splitting all that wood for the stove.. also, had a great time.. 360's are cool.. looking forward to help get them running.. too many projects!!!!, Need to fix hatch, and need to figure out why no fuel comes out of the justy gas tank outlet.. plug in there somewhere.. anyways.. talk to you later. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  4. It actually does handle the offroad better than the old 3 dr.!! That 3dr I had was the S**t. I was the first here in the states that I know of, to have a 3 inch on a 3dr coupe. I loved that car, and bought a friggin jeep cherokee that was a pain in the but, and sold the 3dr to John from Indiana.. Glad he got it,, but I wish I would have never sold it.. I was out of the Suby hobby for a while, until last Jan. when I bought the "bushbrat" from Bill her in Portsmouth... he had the lift most of the way finished, I had to build adjustable strut tops, shifter linkages, and firm up some stuff. and bill has been a big help too.. we just put coil overs under the back end, when my torsion spring broke.. It has a much better load capacity now, and it drives very well. Anyways.. the 3dr went down Shoe creek near crabtree falls., anybody who knows about the George Washington National Forest her in Western Virginia, knows about that area.. really rocky, muddy and fun... never took it to big levels tho, and now big levels is worse than shoe creek because of all the flash flooding, etc.. Also, 3dr would tear the beach up down at the outer banks, but my brat does it so much better!!!,,, just floats by it all, and nice to see people stare and give thumbs up all the time. anyways.. thanks for the compliments. Liked my License Plate? Sube-4x4.. my little justy says Sube-4wd hows that? see ya. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  5. Looking forward to coming to hang out with my Twin Brother.. Anybody here, who has known twins (identical at that), can understand the special relationship we have. We may live 300 miles apart and only see each other about once a month, but there is not a day we don't talk at least once on the phone and yahoo messages all day.. anyways.. Just wanted to say, NICE pictures.. I am looking forward to helping you unload them. We need to figure out some kinda cover for them, as your garage is slam full, and your basement is as well. we also need to get your hatch running... electrical short somewhere on that.. and get that spare justy of mine running.. I will bring title down for you, and if we get it running, its yours to title and have as a daily driver.. anyways.. talk to the board later. Mike and I have been here since May of 97 or so, in the 3 or so incarnations of the USMB
  6. Good pic of wife at overlook. Forgot to post... Nice pic of brat too.. AND you have no lifted subes, mark,.. I have 6inch lifted camo brat, with weber, 2 and 1/4 cat-less exhaust, Super Stock Coil, 8mm wires... gapped NGK's to .050 anyways... Justy to be lifted by spring, at least a two inch lift to shove 185/80/R13's under there... Mike
  7. Took the brat to Big Levels in Nelson County, VA, Last weekend. I Go at it from the Blue Ridge Parkway, west of Waynesboro, near Sherando, and go about 6 miles south, to the Bald Mountain Overlook, there is a road that goes in at that point, and you are at the top of it pretty much, it is down hill from there.. It was VERY rocky, from the torrential rains all summer, and the flash flooding they had out there last wednesday. Very active springs all over, and many sections, the road was the Stream Bed... On the level portions up near the St. Mary's Wilderness access, it was very muddly with many little lakes you had to drive through, luckily, because their isn't much soil on top of the compacted rock, they weren't two deep, with the exception of two.. When looking at my pictures, you can imagine the clearence. I had water when I dropped into some ruts come over the hood momentarily, but then leveled out near the top of the tires... which was high enough to wet the engine, but not high enough to stall it out via the distributor.. just barrelled right through it. Another hole, I was doing very well, just going right along, and the back end drops into a hole... just nailed it and got out of there.. All in all, it was BLAST!!! we had a great time camping, and relaxing.. Weather was PERFECT too... Take a look at some pics.. First Pic is the side of the brat at the camp site out in the middle of nowhere.. Next Pic is of the sign at the "Jeep" trail (hah, did not see any, I think it was too tough for them !) Awesome Overlook, from a Rock Outcropping off side of trail I had a leak from tire at that point, at the rim... think I got a stone chip wedged in there, no fix a flat, but spare and pump.. did not need to change it.. slow leak...kept going.. One of the "Baby" Mud obstacles.. this is nothing compared to the ones I navigated.. but wife did not want to get out of brat and take "action" shots...!!! Picture of My Tent -- What I'd say, awsome site!!!! Wife Cooking at said awesome site... (looking kinda rough, sorry honey, but you DID just wake up !) Brat License Plat Says it ALL!!!! Anyways.. wish I would have taken more pictures!!! It was fun, and I love to go to that area.. next time,, how bout some people meet me and the wife up there? Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  8. I have an 88 so your 89 has 145/80 r/13... I think I need to measure the profile of the rubber on there.. see how long/wide.. look for a 13inch rim with a tire that would fit under there... whats the equivalent to the 12 tires I have, size wise? My current rubber is 155/80 R12 Also, I have found out why I have a shudder at certain speeds.. My back driver side tire is a 145 R12 while there rest are 155.. can a 145 R13 fit in the spot... thanks.. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  9. Gonna have my desert camo, 6 inch lifted BEAST out on Shoe Creek and Big Levels in Nelson County this weekend!!!!! If anybody gonna be out that way.. look me up.. I am hard to miss!!! I would love to meet up, and that would be such a cool thing to do, but the wife and I got back together about 3 weeks ago, and this is our first camping trip together since we were split up for almost 4 months.. anyways.. if I can swing it,, maybe I will be by.. but I think this is gonna be a little far from where I will be (south of Waynesboro). talk to you later. Mike (Lostwater's Twin Brother) mikldom@yahoo.com
  10. am I correct in my thinking that 13 inch rims will fit a justy.. the tire store says there were two sizes of tires that came stock.. like a 145 80/12 and a 155/80/13? so, can a bone stock, unlifted (soon to be lifted tho), 4x4 justy, get 13inch rims on them? I need new tires soon, but not ready to do a lift, so I was thinking of finding some junkyard 4x100 rims with halfway decent 13inch rims... let me know. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  11. My car is red.. The mirror is black... Spring loaded, and has the remot joystick inside the door, through the panel where the mirror mounts. on the pass. side, the panel will come right out where the mirror goes in.. designed to put one there, I just don't have one. I don't care if I get a painted mirror or not,, the one I have is flat black. I plan on painting it green in the spring anyways.. I was really lucky to find a relatively rust free justy with no body damage and interior in immaculate shape... for 300!!! Anyways.. Thanks.. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  12. My brain was shot earlier today.. meant mirrors all along. I know that cars aren't required to have a pass. side mirror.. trucks and vans are.. but I like to have one over there... I haven't seen a justy with one on.. and I would think that because I have a GL model 4x4, that if they came on a justy, then I shoulda had one.. anyways.. thanks for the tips.. I will be checking junkyards.. anybody have one for sale? Thanks. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  13. I want to find a pass. side window for my 88 justy GL 4x4.. Did they import justy's into the states with pass. side windows? or, will I have to use some aftermarket half assed crap.. in the other parts of the worlds, and right hand drive cars, they should have right hand side mirrors... I am too used to having a mirror over there.. and I do use my head/eyes to look too.. just a mirror is nice to have.. any thoughts? Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  14. I haven't seen that stuff around... where can you get this stuff at? Thanks. Mike
  15. Quite often they get special wheels carved out and cut out for designs for motorcycles... some cool stuff.. there has got to be a seller of blank wheels and we can drill our own holes. that manufacturer I think is in NY state that cuts those wheels.. anyways.. my input.' Mike
  16. I have a 1988 Justy 4wd 5 speed. Has anybody put a cruise control on something like that? can the universal jobbies you can buy at peppunks work? Thanks... let me know.. want to not get a ticket, and set the cruise at 8 miles over on trips and not risk it. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  17. I was looking to get some speakers before I picked up the justy.. I went the crutchfield site and looked up their database. in the front, they are 4x6.... NICE...better than 3.5's Anyways.. I got some NICE MA Audio 4x6's. Getting the old ones out was a bitch.. twisting and wrenching them in,, getting the new ones back in was even harder.. But, they are in and sound GREAT.. good bass response for those speakers... That brand is very good.. their is a distributor that sells them locally... I was able to get them for 35.00 a pair..elsewhere, they retail for 50 + anyways.. no speakers in the back.. but there is a little tray type thingy on both sides in the back.. I will cut that out and mount my MA audio 5 1/4 speakers back there.. Just letting you know the answer to that. Mike
  18. Actually looking for somebody who has replaced the speakers in their justy... I don't want to do too much cutting, fabbing/modding.. so, who can confirm what the front speakers are? and if there is a factory spot, behind a panel (like my loyale did for the back speakers), then please, if anybody knows, fill me in. Thanks. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  19. No fader on stock radio.. so probably not back speakers.. What size front speakers? and if back speakers can be mounted.. where do you suggest? I have 2 pair of REAL nice coax 5 and 1/4 speakers, so hoping to use one pair in the back area somewhere (of course sub in the very back).. what size really in the front? 3 1/2's? Thanks in advance. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  20. alright.. since I am getting this killer deal on a justy in the mountains... and I need a driveshaft I have there for free.. I am gonna take a bus out there friday night, and mark pick me up in roanoke.. that way I can drive justy home with my driveshaft that won't cost me anything.. thanks for the offers tho.. there will be other times.. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  21. under a brat, there is no center bearing.. it is a one-piece driveshaft. any other ideas? Thanks.
  22. considering last weekend my driveshaft broke on my brat, and my spare is up the mountains at my brothers, that is probably where I am heading this weekend. I would have loved to get up with the sube brethren, as I think it is only 6 hours north of me.. oh well.. always next time, and I have some awesome places to go in Virginia (and closer).. Unless, you think I can take out the driveshaft, keep the fluid in there, and somebody brings one to donate,, I can swap under the 6 inch desert camo, lifted brat in less than 30 minutes.. what'd you think? I don't think I can drive it with the shaft removed, as the fluid comes out the back Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  23. Mark had a 1993 Isuzu Amigo that had a carb on it.. so trucks probably went on for a couple more years with carbs.. actually, when they are running right, FI is much better, less vacuum lines can run almost upside down (my carb cuts out on steep declines when it is rocky). anyways.. My input. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com
  24. I think the just is mounted sideways, the three cylinders going east/west.. where is the tranny mounted,, on the side, or like my brat, kinda behind in the center? This justy I am getting, I think I need to do a clutch job, and/or tranny swap.. good thing I am getting a parts justy in good shape too.. so, how is the tranny mounted,, how hard to swap, get to, etc... I recently did a tranny swap in my brat, so I can do it.. some input? Thanks. Mike mikldom@yahoo.com oh, it is 1988 justy 4wd, manual, push button
  25. I am not worrying aobut replacing it.. I did the coil over conversion as suggest by McBrat.. the coils give much more capacity anyways.. and considering they came off an EA82 wagon that weighs more... my torsion bar / spring was wore out anyways.. and any weight put in the back lugged it down.. now,, it bearly moves when I get in the bed. Mike
