Thanks for your reply. Had a look at the link but can't get to the whole article without being a member. Maybe vane is OK???? I don't know, MAF or MAP looks better but maybe they aren't as accurate.

Hi, My EA82T has an Vane Air Flow Sensor (VAF), which looks like it would restrict air flow. What are my options when changing this sensor? Can I use a MAF or MAP? What is involved in the swap? Cheers Hayden

Hi, I wanting to swap my ea81 box for ea82 fulltime 4WD. FYI: I now have a ea82 turbo motor. I have found a Fulltime 4WD box from a non-turbo Leone. Will this gearbox be strong enough? I pretty sure it should be OK, but I don't really know. Also, I think think that spine counts are different. Is this correct? Is it possible to use a ea82 inner CV on the existing ea81 axles to make the gearbox work? Another small question. Are all Fulltime 4WD gearboxs LSD? Cheers for your help Hayden

Hi, Before I start, thank you everyone for help I'm doing a EA81-T to EA82-T conversion because I cracked a head on my EA81 and I can't find anymore. I brought a crashed 1985 Subaru Leone RX and have removed and engine, computer and complete wiring loom. My plan is to find a wiring diagram and isolate the wires required for the engine and computer. I not a mechanic or much of a handy man, so if there are any faults in my plan or easier way of doing the conversion please let me know? Cheers Hayden

The air flow sensor on your engine is different to mine and yours looks better. Which model of Leone can I steal one of them off? Is it an easy swap?

I'm in New Zealand. Don't want to import a FT4WD gearbox as it will be too expensive. I should be able to find one locally. There are heaps of them driving round.

Do the FT4WD boxes have a hi/lo selector?

Hi, I want to put a full time 4WD gearbox in my Leone. The local wrecker has lots of Leone gearboxes sitting around with no writting on them and he does know what they are. I can get a really good price on one of these gearboxes but I had to know how to visually identify a 5 speed ea82 full time 4WD gearbox (lenght, serial or part number, plugs, ???). I have seen it done to a EA82 leone but not a EA81. Is the engine bay big enough to fit a EJ20 turbo engine in?

Hi, I have a EA81 turbo which I have just taken apart to find that it is internally wrecked. Getting a new motor or enough parts to make this good again will be very expensive and I'm think I should spend abit more and drop an ej20 turbo and its complete driveline in. I would be using parts from wrecked Legacys. Has anyone done this before? Is it possble?

I have been told this turbo is "IHI Ballbearing Turbo off a Subaru BD5 Twin Turbo Legacy". Don't ballbearing turbos spool faster, less lag? What is the best turbo to use that should bolt in without mods? Just so you know, currently I have an IC, forged pistons, oil cooler and rising fuel pressure regulator.

Hi, I have an EA81T with a bad turbo. I can get a VF18-9711 for cheap. This turbo is the primary turbo from a twin turbo legacy. I run around 13-18 psi. Will this turbo fit? Will it work OK? Thanks heaps

Hi, I have an ea81T with a high pitch sqeal under boost. Probably a stupid question but which pipe is the uppipe?

I got and same problem, no reverse lights! I have a 5 speed with hi/lo 4WD and 2WD on a ea81T. From memory I think it has two plugs, one near the back and one at the top. Does anyone know how to get reverse lights going?

Sorry about pic not showing and bad lighting on pic in my gallery. But anyways, The device is made by AutoLogic (I think?) it also has HI-ENERGY and ignition systems written on it. My car runs about 15-18psi and when over 5000rpm in 4th or 5th it misses a little. Could this be a lack in spark because of this device?

Hi Everyone I have a turbo ea81 and device in the picture below is not wired in. The wires leading to this device are from the negitive coil and dizzy. If I put the wires to this device the engine will not run. Hope pics show up? Might have to look in my gallery Could someone please let me know what this is? and if you know how should it be plugged in? Included pic of whole engine bay as had been asked for in previous posts.

Without taking the motor apart how would you know if you had hydro lifters?

Would having a modified cam affect clearance distances?

What type of motor are these clearances for?

I got the same problem! and noisy tappets (lifters). Would these be linked?

My ea81T tops out at about 170kph. Not bad but a want more!

Subarurx I like your ride! I'm in NZ too I have ea81T Leone rally car bit older than yours but great fun! I have had alot of work done to it, just got a LSD diff to go. Looks like you are doing the Mainland Rallies. I was hoping to do them but have ran outta money. Still should hoping to do the Nelson and Westland rallies.
