difference in ea82 digi clusters?
T'subaru replied to SoobGoob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What year? I just picked up an '86 gl 5 spd w/digi. I have '89 fsm's but digi's are different. -
How smooth were the heads after surfacing? Ive seen them surfaced anywhere from almost a mirror finish to being grooved or extremely grooved. Think it mainly depends on the condition of the machine shops equip. I had seepage on one of these heavily grooved surface jobs. Now I ask up front what to expect from their equipment. Also I bottom tap blocks, chase threads on head bolts, use oil etc. Good luck

L series twin core radiators
T'subaru replied to T'subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yea, local parts seller here can supply new single row, plastic tanks for 93.00. Twin core is my preference as all my subs are ea82t powered. who did you buy from? Another vendor is performance radiator. I spoke with them recently and closest stock was in New Mexico. -
Check these guys out. http://www.usaradiator.com/SUBARU--LOYALE--1990.html Part number 1269 used in most l series, my 90 loyale, 89 rx, 93 sedan and 86 gl

Newb here. This thing rare? 85 Turbo Rx?
T'subaru replied to Gotxqss's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I would also replace your turbo's coolant hoses too. I had one fail and it cooked my motor with out the temp gauge moving at all. Catastrophic waterloss will kill the ea82t in a heartbeat. Nice ride for sure! -
need a part indentified please

A clearer and focused photo may help. Looks like a readable paper label. A better pic may yield a faster answer. -
haha.. As of yet I havn't driven an ej powered subi so I don't know what I'm missing, but as the ea82t's die I'm going ej for sure. Thanks for the heads up with suspension issues.

Thanks MilesFox, I wanted to know if legacy suspension front and rear could be swapped into a L series, complimenting the ej's drive and power train. As far as the rx drive train I hav'nt decided which subi i will transfer to yet. I have a turbo wagon and just picked up an '86 gl sedan today, all ea82T powered. Disc brakes everywhere but no 5 stud.

I'm looking at a '90 legacy ej22 donor car for my '89 rx. Is there a way to also use legacy 5 lug hubs and disc's along with the rest of the ej goodies? Most info I have found is centered around the xt6's. Thanks, Mark

Thought I would post this up. FWSM's covering ea81,ea82, ej20 and ej22 can be downloaded for free, covering most of the vehicle. I eventually bought the factory manuals off e-bay for complete car coverage. The site is aviation based and offers no coverage for electrical on the vehicle side of the ecu, drive train, body etc. http://www.ch601.org/engines.htm

Looking for body wiring schematics and diagrahms for my 89 rx, anyone have a link? Thanks, Mark

Good products for older subarus
T'subaru replied to 88coupe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Carquest has a line of parts called "worldpac". Pretty good coverage and pricing for my '89 RX. -
I want to trade this for this
T'subaru replied to Subieguy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Good luck, Cali craigslist on Subi's is usually pretty slim, if that Brat is avail I would jump on it.
