1. Sorry for messing up this thread, tryin to have a readable pic within size limits
2. Last fall I breezed thru my RX's ea82t for a winter commuter ( just hg's,seals and head surfacing) using the stock rad w/o aux fan, it has never kicked on. With an aux temp gauge I was running 190 ish 30 thru 50 degrees. As the temps started to avg upper 50's to low 60's I averaged 200, 210 to 215 on long uphill grades, hotter under boost. fsm states operating temp at 209 +/- 15 degrees. Dont like to push it like that and as of last weekend the car is parked while I source ecu/harness waic for ej20G conversion. Should note also that rad was 200k afik and at 65-70 mph 2 hour + trips. could imagine what new rad and working aux fan would do. cheers
3. usually points to bearings....wonder if drums are out of round? does it matter if you are hard or light on the brakes?
4. Looks good also. I drive a ton of miles and if I ever get rid of my Rx, the front seat stays
5. hehe, ive been there, a futile attempt :-\
6. Be careful trusting the L series temp gauges, most never read above 1/4 scale. An auxillary temp gauge is the way to go as well as replacing the original L sender. ( advice from someone who has melted an EA82T without a heads up from the temp gauge)
7. Oh, btw....love your avatar. I bet no one remembers F-Troop, Agorn and the rest of those characters. haha...still recall the words to the shows theme song....not many shows in color back then as I remember:)
8. My view was of the rear end, it looked like it had a luggage rack on the trunk lid, chrome. but this trip I didnt take hwy-12 to the coast.
9. http://pdftown.com/Pdf-eBook/Subaru.html?from=20 Check this site out. I found '02 and '04 imp sti service manuals. good luck, M
10. yep, im the guys last resort when he cant get what he wants for it. even parting a rig here is pretty difficult as were a 2 hour drive from any larger city.
11. Yes I live in Wa, just on the ocean.....and 18 miles of beach that can be driven on. The way the air can eat up a car here is amazing. I have pics that would easily rival any east coast road salt rust.
12. Driving by Kelso Friday on I-5 I came up on a car leaving the side of the road and exiting 1 exit past Kelso. Car caught my eye as it was an '88 '89 RX. I really like mine as you dont see hardly any on the road ( which is hard to say for most vehicles) It had the factory ground effects which mine does not..but need to add. So I continued on my loooong drive home and took an optional route home on a little winding hiway checking out all the pastures and such searching for my future Brat whan I run upon a row of parked cars with a white clean looking xt or xt6 ( not sure ) mixed in. Will have to check it out next weekend...
13. Hi Guys, Checked out an '84 Brat today......lots of rust:( The rocker panels are rotted away, just 'bout the same at the bed. Also door bottoms are gone as well as a support bracket ( i guess ) that runs under front of floor pan from frame. Did some shopping today on line, looks like rocker panels are oem as well as door shells. Any body found otherwise? Is this typical on older Brats..or should I run from this one. Thanks
14. Definately like the look! My '89 RX still has the factory gray trim and bumpers and did not have the ground effects when I bought it.
15. how are you doing with the volcano and related flooding?
16. Im not sure but wasnt there a 3 plug ecu in the mid or so 80's that became a 4 plug in '89??
17. I have a couple that have a tube threaded into the underside of the head near the exh pipe that have been cut and crimped.
18. http://www.usaradiator.com/SUBARU--LOYALE--1990.html Hey Disco, check out part number 1269. I have talked to Performance Radiator in Wa state. Twin core and metal tank. Closet stock in New Mexico and also quoted 182.00, and Performance does not ship out of the us. Possibly usa rad does ( i have not contacted them ) Keep cool
