I was quite shocked to read the news yesterday, Suzuki also pulled out and dare i say it i was rooting for them too. I hope this only means an end to a Subaru Sponsored team and that private teams may still be racing Subaru. Its a bummer but im sure there will still be a Subaru racing maybe not a bright blue one with gold wheels. :-\

well i have been searching to see if i could find any good info on how to fix my cruise control but i have no idea were to start. I wrecked my 91 legacy and replaced it with a 90 that had no cruse control, i swapped out all of the under hood components, the cruse control modual and relay, the cluch and brake switches and plugged them into there proper plugs that were already in the existing wiring harness. the dash switch will light up and the relay will click on but i cant get the cruise control to turn on. any ideas. I'll keep searching .

Made huge progress on thrusday and friday. the motor was in and running by about 8pm on friday. I had some horrable lifter tick that was freakin me out since i was taking off over the mountains on saturday morning. after a few searches i found out how to get rid of the tick. After a hard drive around the block it went away. I drove about 300 miles this weekend and it ran great with no problems at all. time to do some smaller work to it and hopefully many more years of subaru goodness.

my big problem at the moment is weather. i have a tarp/temporary car port with one car under it and the car with the bad motor is in the rain. today i pulled the good engine cleaned it off and put some new gaskets on it. i had planned to have all the brackets and the intake manifold on and have it set to drop into the the other new subaru. but it raind and im soaked and im tired. tomorow is another day with clearing skys i hope. so if there are any subaru wizards in the renton highlands area willing to lend a hand..:-\

the freakin motor is shot... keeps over heating.. everthing else is new. :banghead:i needed a car by saturday morning and now i have 3 cars that are not fit to drive anyware. my vw runs and drives but the interior is completely out. my other subaru is wrecked and i was stuped enough to pull everything off the block so now instead of swaping motors i need to pull and re install an intake manifold. i guess you gotta learn somehow. it couldn't be a more perfect week for it too. can a motor be installed in 3 evenings.:-\ im thinking positive and with enough time and good weather i think its possible,

some may have seen my last post. i wrecked my 91 wagon last tuesday and thursday found a 90 wagon for sale same color as mine. The guy said it had an over heating problem and wanted something a little more dependable. :-\ so i bought it last night for $900, recent timing belt, gaskets, radiator, thermostat, tires, muffler, no major accidents, never smoked in and was family owned. 154k miles on it. It didn't come with cruise control but thanks to subaru all the plugs and mounting points were all in the proper location so i ripped my old cruise control out and installed it in the new car:) so far its running great with no over heating issues, although both steering rack boots are bad so i need to look into that. it does have some damage to the front drivers side corner but im working on fixing it the best i can, i put a new fender on off my old car today. the body isn't as nice as my old one but the interior is far better

I was in traffic and wasn't paying attention as we picked up speed and everyone stopped, i hit the guy in front of me no one was hurt, I hit an F150 in the trailer hitch. it looks to be fixable but IMO really not worth it. Its a good car, sad to see it go. :-\ $180 ticket +$ 150 tow insurance hike.. what a wonderfull week. its my first accident i wonder if can get it taken off.. or at least get the price down.

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
PeterD replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
man i don't come here that often but i though about checking out this part of the forum.. great project cant wait to se more progress:) -
i looked to find the conectors so i could pull any codes but they were not were they are suposed to be, the wiring under the dash looked terrable, a factory alarm system looked to have been installed i couldn't find the conectors like my car has. all the hoses seem to be were they are suposed to be. like i said the car idles fine.. but it won't hold a high idle on startup like its suposed to, so it will stumble and die before its warmed up. maybe if i tried to rest the pcm by unplugging the battery.. maybe it has some sort of memory.:-\

well i helped a friend buy a 1990 legacy wagon under the condition i would help him get it running properly. it had an idle problem. I removed and cleaned the IAC valve and that seemed to help a bunch but the car was still struggling to start in the cold. i replaced the coolant temp sensor and that didn't seem to help. When we start the car when not warmed up the engine revs up to about 1500-2000 rpm then drops to almost zero and wants to stall, my friend said when he goes to start the car in the morning it will acualy die, were my 91 legacy will hold the RPM's up and slowly lower them down to idle his car won't. is there anything else i could loook at. WHen the car is warm it runs fine. its only under startup when the motor isn't warmed up.

i did the front and rear brakes on my legacy a while ago. the fronts turned out fine but the rears were turned to the absolute minimum and weeks later i had a bad vibration under braking. I bought new rotors and it works great. Im guessing the rotors could be truned wrong, you have to be absolutely sure the rotors are setup on the lathe just right. rust, dirt, grime can cause the rotor to be out of true when its put on the lathe.
