  1. the MS fits just fine in the convinient in dash storage compartment (glove box)...thats where its at already. trans and rear end will be stock RX...as JWX wants me to see how much power it takes to break one. otherwise, I'll be using the stock RX LSD forever. Ring and Pinion will change according to transmission ratio... i dont know what the buckets are...i have not measured.
  2. I will be using the MS. Now that I have all the proper hardware (Wideband, knock feedback stuffs, laptop to tune on the fly with, etc...), I have found that the MS is perfectly capable of handling anything as long as you know what you are doing. Since I know what I am doing...there will be no issues.
  3. Here we go! I have a set of USDM WRX heads that were wrecked...supposidly the valves are bent. I have an extra set of vavles. The heads are still on the engine...soon I'll get them off and see whats what. These are 2003 spec heads...so they are shimless buckets, and I have two full sets of those...shimming shouldnt be a problem. I also have an extra set of cam pullys...as the two passenger side plastics were destroyed in the wreck. I have a 1996~1999 spec EJ25D intake manifold and throttlebody for the manifold assy...I'll be using side feed injectors and I'll be looking for stock STi USDM injectors. I have a stock subaru cast iron turbo header...stockers are better. Block....I have 3 EJ257 blocks to choose from. 1: bare block halves...light surface rust on cyl walls...otherwise checks out. 2: EJ257 from Legacy GT/Outback XT...light cyl wall rust, evidence that timing belt idler blew up and...i cant see any valve/piston contact, so ive got '4 good pistons and a block'...so theres #2. 3: Block with less than 3k miles...3 excellent pistons and cyl walls. zero rust. cyl #2...very light scoring and a cracked piston. I have one extra piston out of another block for that. I will be starting off with #3 on the list. I will be using the stock sti headgaskets, 11044AA642, the thin ones...that will result in an 8.8:1 compression ratio. TQ!!!!!!!! Again, the turbo will be the stock USDM EJ205 WRX turbo...the TD04L-13G. That'll mean instant boost and lots of low end...very good mid range, and acceptable top end to 7k. I plan on VF34/VF39 sometime in the future to make the top end align with the current planned low end. exhaust will feature a Stromung divorced dowpipe, an a 2.5" custom exh from the DP back. Noise=louder is better. Pics will be comming soon.
  4. Plugs right up. Sits in the hole perfectly. Now, cut a peice of fuel hose, clamp it on the top of the injector, tehn slide on the fuel rail, leaving enough slack that when you bolt the fuel rain back down, it holds the injectors in place. Re-tune. Turn up boost. Break stuff. Fix stuff. Break more stuff. Repeat if desired, use only as directed.
  5. no need to oring EJ engines. the stock headbolts and headgaskets are good to 800 AWHP.
  6. Coppers dont work...not enough clamping force to keep them from leaking...hince why the engines need ARP. Even th cometics...they need ARP. add those two, and more power...pistons...Mahle. $...$$ and more $$$. This is the final thread....I'll come back to the EA82 when i get more time and money to 'throw away'..... The EA82 is a fine engine...it just lacks in 2 key elements...headgasket design and clamping force. The EJ....has those...+ very nice stock pistons that can take 575 AWHP at the wheels. At this point, I cannot put up anymore defence...guilty as charged, the EJ is simply a better package now that I actually have 'throw away' parts that I can assemble an ENTIRE STi engine. Who can pass that up? The nextchallenge will be making all of that power get to all 4 wheels. Me thinks RX transmission with its 2 open diffs isnt going to work. 6MT here I come.
  7. This was not an easy decision... This morning...I have decided that I cannot afford the time and money to truly build the EA82. If i were to it...insane amounts of money would have to be poured into Cometic, Mohle, ARP to get the main components of the engine up to spec. The rest...well, thats easy. The money for thoes 3 items, I cannot afford. It adds up to well over $30,000 USD. USMB: You have the headers, downpipes and all the WRX-STi aftermarket possible to bolt on and go fast until you overheat and blow the weak composit gaskets. With a heavy heart, and EXTREME sadness...I am moving on. All of the stuff i have is going to JWX...the torch is now with him. Take a look at the market place for some items I have for sale soon. Within the next week, an EJ257 will be transplanted into the RX. I will be making 260HP/300+TQ to the ground on a 13G turbo. Stock subaru header, and a stromung exhaust....MegaSquirt EMS. Off to Street Mod I go....FSP will be spared. I've done all I can, which was incredible, with my paperclips and bubble gum to make the engine fast...but the headgaskets just dont cut it. SUBARU learned from that and every engine from then on have multi layer metal...too bad they wont make them for the EA82...I tried already. So long EA82...its been a great relationship. In the end, I just want to go fast.
  8. ummm, i did catch it immediatly. however, going 90mph in the far left lane in atlanta traffic means I am 6 lanes from the 'emergancy lane' which means when it breaks, its too late anyways.
  9. Read my post...it doesnt get any clearer than stock usdm evo 8~9.
  10. So you dont end up like WJM. One of my accsessory belts broke on I285 today...and took the other one with it on the way out. Both stayed in the engine bay ironically. However, the engine overheated near instantly, as the EA82 uses those belts to drive the waterpump. After a long walk to NAPA...suprisingly they had belts...some basic tools, coolant and no more money left for the week later...the car should run and get me home. Nope. Belts on, coolant in....coolant vapor out of the exhaust. I drove it enough to get it off the interstate and in a 'safe' location...Now I am going to spend the last $ i have on getting it towed over to my place....so I can drive the other broken car until i get another engine put together for the RX. Now...the RX AND the Outback will be completely loaded with their own sets of tools, spares and liquids. An expensive lesson I still have not fully learned...No more. Full paranoia mode set to 'FULLY ACTIVE' IBvaderkilledbenandejenginesarebetter
  11. or just put EVO injectors in...or the stockers.
  12. Those flow 185@45. Ours flow 245@45. Those flow ~100@36. Ours flow 185@36. What suby said.
  13. No, the coolant from the turbo is dumped into the T stat housing...just like on an EJ car its dumped into the coolant tank.
  14. No, they ARE 185 CC at the fuel pressure on the rails on the EA82. I am getting 100% DC at stock boost on my car...ofcourse, i ahve all kinds of more airflow with the header, DP, intake and intercooler.
  15. Exactly. Im going to go buy some roofing tin tomorrow and cut some myself.
  16. i dont remember what the stockers are. SEARCH feature goes a long way tho.
  17. I finally got honest answers from Cometic... while I still still send the form in....just from talking on the phone with someone who ACTUALLY gave me the time of day and was honest... $6,000~$12,000 for the tooling, and a min. order of approx 100 gaskets in order for them to produce them.
  18. Thats just the way it is. You cannot get the tools from SUBARU at all...SUBAUR dealers order then thru kentmoore. After subaru sends the tools out to the dealers, kentmoore buys all of them up and inflate the prices....subaur dealers can still get them, but only thru kentmoore. YOU can get them from kentmoore if you have the PN. SUBARU still lists information for the PN...but the tools are always listed as 'inactive' and 'obsolete'...so you cannot order them from subaru anymore.
  19. I guess no one wants multi layer metal headgaskets. Thats just fine with me, I'll order 25 sets for myself.
  20. No one seems to care when i give good help. Eveyone seems to doubt me. Eveyone tells me EJ engines are better and that I am wasting my time. I have done so much work in my free time getting aftermarket companies to make parts for our cars, only for me to get stiffed time after time with empty promisses. why should I willingly and freely help those who deep down, DON'T CARE about these cars the way i do? You guys spend $0~$500 on the EA82T cars initially...and then complain about every single little cent spent on it. $400 header that will make 11ty billion power over stock and smae witha $200 downpipe? Ya'll beeotched all day long about the pricing after I worked so hard to get TWE to make them. Now that they are avalible, the REAL enthusists buy them, but the original people who wanted them stiffed me (those who didnt stiff me, I thank you and you know who you are and you know you are not one who I am talking about) and I've had to suffer from it. other things, like oil coolers, headgaskets, ARP head studs, real suspension bits, etc...cannot be made to happen since ya'll whine about the $ when you want to make the cars go fast w/out supporting mods...and then you wonder why it blows up and then whine about how weak the engines are. WELL WAKE THE F*** UP. Take an EJ20G/EJ207...ANY EJ engine and add boost w/out supporting mods... WHAT DO YOU GET? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like an EA82. Yeah, so what if you made 300 WHP, you made it, right?! Wrong, you blew up your engine. That doesnt mean jack crap. Jamaca has several 575 AWHP STi's on STOCK INTERNALS.....and they are reliable. HOW?!?!?! Proper time and $ spent on SUPPORTING MODIFICATIONS. 1. Fast 2. Reliable 3. Cheap Pick two. The injectors are stock USDM EVO 8~9 injectors.
  21. No aftermarket here at all. As for stoc crappy fuel rail....idk where that comes from, the design on the stock peice is excellent. Nothing wrong with it. I did have the custom stuff on the GL-10...the RX is stock. I do have the MegaSquirt...been in for the last 3 weeks. More than 9 psi=danger lean....i need more fuel.
  22. So how many of you on here would be jealous if I had a set (4) of 560cc injectors that are direct fit replacement in the EA82T? Actually, I have 2 sets (8 injectors) and I just test fit them. Boooooost here I come.
