  1. apparently, the BRAND NEW NAPA IC12 coil was borked from the factory. I swapped the coil back to a MUCH older NAPA IC12...the one that came in the car, and all is good so far.
  2. its possible....I dont hear one rolling around tho.
  3. Alex, thats where I got the idea from originally.
  4. Once again, with this PCV system that is currently on the car, IT HAS NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM...nor is it acting like the other EA82's with the PCV issue. why did I change it? because I could, and I wanted to. This setup has been on this RX, and many other EA82T's for 2 years with no problems. These cars have the fuel cut units. See thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27482 It is entirely possible that is my problem, however, since the RX is an 87, an EARLY 87 at that...it is entirely possible that it does not have one.
  5. screw it...here you go guys: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=388183
  6. ...to see what was REALLY inside and figure out how that shizzle works as it all seemed like black magic even with diagrams.... For the record, i did thoroughly ruin it(cut though the inner shell, and the top section that slides into the inner shell...and a little into the main shaft)...but all the important peices still functioned so I could see how it worked and all...plus the valves are still intact so i can use those as spares. After pouring out the water thin fluid and playing with the stuff for a few mins...and seeing how the valves worked....it occured to me...that the idea I had back in this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580612 will indeed work. the second strut of the pair (ironically the of the SAME said pair that were 'blown' in that thread) I simply drilled a hole...drained the fluid...tapped the hole for a 1/8-NTP thread plug, filled with some thicker oil (MUCH THICKER...gear oil to be precise) to the appropriate level...and screwed the plug in. results so far are untested on an actual car...but by hand the compression is approximately 4 to 5 times a NEW GR2 and the rebound is about 10x of a NEW GR2. Once I get some more spare time, i will perform said operation on another spare set i have laying around, along with a rear set and throw them on the car. So what do you all think of this? WJM-one who builds a fast car with a string, paperclip, a little boost and oil. :alien:
  7. PCV system is not stock....one hose with a tee to another tee with a breather filter. A NTP plug in the manifold replacing the PCV valve.
  8. 3rd'ed... I've never had one suddenly go like that....nor have I had a new one go....either way, if it was within the 12month/12k miles from new, SUBARU should have replaced it back then under warrenty.
  9. 1987 SUBARU Leone RX/II 3 Door FT4WD 5spd D/R EA82T so I was hauling azz today...adn took a hard left hander like always...and BAM...no power. Like the fuel injectors cut off. I get it stright...blip the throttle, power back on. HARD right hand corners, power as usual. Since then, pretty much ANY left corner with more than ~20% throttle application results in one of several things... 1. severe bucking (on off on off on off in RAPID succession). 2. NOTHING (like fuel and/or ignition os turned off). 3. SMOKE SCREEN of raw fuel accompany'd by anti-lag like backfiring out of the exhaust...which results is severe stumbling and no power. 4. combination of all of the above mentioned options. under a sustained skidpad envionment...once it hits, it keeps the car off until the cornering is ceased, or revs drop to idle...and in some cases when the car is straight, continues to be 'off' until revs drop back to idle, then its ready to go again. it NEVER does this during right hand corners, even in skidpad. fuel levels are varying. Does this when full, 1/2, below the E, 1/3, 2/3, 63/64ths....etc...fuel level doesnt matter. I have checked the grounds, all is good. No loose wiring that I can find, and everything is hooked up so far that I can tell... BRAND NEW coil, plugs are a few weeks old (NGK V-power gapped to .024), wires are OE SUBARU that are 1 year old (same for cap and rotor) fuel filter is about a year old now. This one is well beyond my realm of understanding. any ideas?
  10. IC12 or the mileage plus version of it, the IC12SB from NAPA. $46 for the IC12, $14.95 for the IC12SB.
  11. UltraGrey is second choice from the Fuji bond. the tube cost me around $20 from subaru....ofcourse, i get a killer deal.
  12. Fuji Bond. Get it from your local suby dealer.
  13. The one for the RX (6/86 to 8/87 production range) is $323 list price from SUBARU. Luckily I dont ahve to pay that much...but its still over $200 for me. Atleast my TPS is still working...I hope it keeps working for a long time.
  14. WT3YA. I posted about this a long azz time ago....no one was interested. ANY MY2000+ Legacy/Baja will work. ALL EA82/ER27 cars.
  15. WWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.............. Since you have the 5 lug, you can get the Koni 8611-S inserts for the front...the rear...I'm still looking for a suitable off the shelf rear threaded body shock thats adjustable...the problem is that ONE rear would be more than BOTH of the front inserts together... Those are adjustable ofcourse...
  16. I'll know when i get the protoypes done and dyno'd.
  17. I hope they will handle 675 lb springs (12K)....as I will be running somewhere around a 10k, 11k or 12k setup (560, 616, 672)... The light valving should be good for 250~350...med valving for 350~550...and the heavy for 600+...I hope. Once I get the prototype stuff figured out and a set done for my RX...tested...then sent off to a shock dyno....I'll experiment with some more valving and get some set numbers. Yes, $150 for just one axle set...aka it breaks down to $75 each. Right now thats just the predicted pricing...the rears may be cheaper or more expensive once i get some pricing back from KYB and Tokico for parts. These will not be end user adjustable tho...so be sure to select carefully your valving for what you end up doing....but I will have charts up for what you should want vs what you are doing for valving choices.
  18. Normally I would be more than happy to give away the secrets...but, alas...this is not something an average person or mechanic can do...plus I am making a living off of these items. Do you think Koni would tell you all about how they do their work...? No... Here are some cliffnotes tho... Tokico-KYB-others are the same basic internal construction. They have the same basic valving components. Through the right places, i can order different valving parts. However, the struts are designed as a sealed non-rebuildable unit. They have to be cut apart and converted to a rebuildable unit. After I perform that conversion, I can rebuild them, assemble them, and you will have the end product....a much stiffer than OE shock/strut.
  19. 38 PSI...GT25R...Meth injection...VP Import... VVVVVVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *turbo sucking noise*
  20. No one? Ok...i guess no one wants the stiffness.
  21. dont need the rear PCV. I went 24k on a 9.5:1. Failure were rings and a valve...valve melted. why less than 7? its more than safe enough to run 12 psi with 93 octane on the stock header...add in TWE stuff and you will go lean with anything more than 10. Heres the thing... Dyno results show that the 9.5 doesnt make anymore power/tq over the 7.7. It make more power off boost, but thats it. why run less boost? both engines feel the same on the butt dyno with the same mods. But no, there is no way to run LESS boost than stock wastegate pressure. If you so chose to, you would need to take the actuator apart, and put a softer spring in it. Ive taken several 600mile+ trips, there are zero problems.
  22. heads are all the same. MPFI and TURBO heads are the same with the exception of the ports on the 1-3 head for the oil line, coolant line, and oil return. If you look on the 2-4 head...well, its the EXACT same casting...but w/out the ports tapped or they are blocked with a bolt. SPFI and CARB heads appear nearly the same.
  23. screw it...here you go guys: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=388183
