  1. Back from the dead means an update on my end: I no longer own any RX's or RX parts...the oldest SUBARU and SUBARU related parts I have belong to the 1996 Legacy outback wagon.
  2. When I drive an STi I loose all self control. Its just way too much fun.
  3. What he said ^^. The 4EAT transmission are awesome. Its the 3AT's that are not the best. However, I never got worse than 24mpg with my EA82T wagon around town...and about 30 interstate. 5MT was 22-ish in town, and the same on the interstate. For some reason my RX always got 24 in town and 36~37 interstate. (5MT D/R) My 4EAT outback gets 32 interstate. My 05 RS (5MT) only got 30~31. In town both get about 20~22. The WRX's (5MT) get about 12~16 intown...and 30~32 interstate. STi's usually do not exceed 26mpg on the interstate, thats a 6MT. Around town I never see better than about 8mpg with the STi.
  4. You have progress! Unlike my car...lol Where did you get the bearing socket from?
  5. yeah, thats the other thing. The Ej25 in the same outback feels like a slug.
  6. It does if you reflash the ECU....or put a standalone on it.
  7. Well, after all things being considered...Im wanting an EZ30 gen1 now. But the emanage is a good idea.
  8. the immobilizer was only on the gen2 ez30's in the usa. I want a gen1.
  9. this I know....but...the 3.0 intrigues me more.
  10. its not that hard if you have two complete cars and wiring diagrams.
  11. problem is that the engine is much larger than the 3.0...I am considering that option as well.
  12. With Ecuflash you can reflash the stock WRX ecu and rid it of the CELs that truly do not relate to engine control/performance...like some of the fuel sensors, evap, fuel pump controller...etc. If needed you can alter some of the other tables to basically ignore a non-present sensor thats not critical...but make sure to triple check that its still running safe with a wideband installed and a dataloger (enginuity logger is nice).
  13. ....about putting an EZ30D (gen1 thats from 2001~2004) 3.0L H6 in the RX instead. Its the same cubical dimensions as the EJ25D, 212hp/210tq and its N/A...so no complicated piping needed. Plus if i wire in the stock ECU from an 01~04, no need for tuning or anything. Oh, and it would be completely reliable.....and a complete PITA to work on in car.
  14. With the disty set to 20* BTDC, the MS can successfully move the timing from 5* to ~45*. All you'd need to do is make the #1 reference on the 360 side of things 'wider' so the MS can see it....and make sure the disty is timed correctly to the engine. Then set the rest up.
  15. the reference for TDC1 on the CAS is 5 degrees instead of 2 degrees....
  16. Well, we'll see....in about a year....when I actually start working on it again.
  17. Any standalone that reads the old Nissan disty-CAS should read and be able to run an EA82. I have an AEM for WRX that I might use.
  18. I didnt have any problem with my seals...unless the shock was over filled.
  19. I've talked about issues before on there, and was told that I am wrong no matter what. However when I tried said things, it made it better. I have also talked in person to other M'squirters and since they dont see the issue they automatically assume its the tuning. With over a year with this and no real success, I'm done with it.
  20. I did fab up a crank pulley with the edis wheel and make a mount for the CAS....all thats left is wiring and redo the MS. As for the code...I'd still rather use the stock ECU if I'm going to go thru the trouble of sorting code and doing all that...as the stock ecu already runs the engine perfectly.
  21. Nothing is 'wrong' with it....except that there were no engineers that spent hundreds of thousands of man hours with it to make it run the car PROPERLY.... All I know is that whats on the car is very inconsistent. One drive cycle it works fine, the next its trash. The MS as no way is seeing where the engine is in its cycle....it just guesses. Its too slow/unable to be programmed to use the stock CAS to it fullest extent like the stock ecu has. The stock ECU can see all 720 degrees of one engine cycle, in a 2 degree resolution. Thats dammed good. The MS only gets 4 pulses that signify the engine is running. It as no way to see if the engine is nearing TDC 1, or how much longer until TDC 1. No one will help me or guide me in making the MS read the fine resolution on the CAS wheel. if i could do that, then the MS would be CONSISTANT....THEN I could tune it to run the car properly. However, there is no support for it since I am the only one running it this way. Plus I've done everything in all the books, had professional tuners look at it, and got really creative outside the box...and...the accell enrichment is ************. There's no way around it, it refuses to work correctly. Oh, did I mention the knock control sucks? There is EDIS-4. I have everything I need. However, there's no clean way to install it. It just creates more clutter in the engine bay. But...its another bandaid and I'm sure it'll still have issues. With the stock ECU, the car starts up every time with no protest, cold starts, hot starts, warm starts, upside down and sideways. The enleanment and enrichments work perfectly. Plus, the knock control is PHENOMENAL over what the MS has. Either way, if I cant get a stock EA82T ECU to work...I'll just use a 2002 WRX ECU to run the car. At least I can reflash that one.
  22. Ummm...NO. After playing with it for over a year, I'm extremely disappointed with it. I am absolutely done with standalones unless there is no other solution. Right now, I have several solutions with using a stock ECU...if I have to, I'll go back to stock injectors/turbo and running 12psi.
