  1. I'm just north of Denver Colorado Hoping to get $600 but I'd settle for $500 just would hate to see it end up at the crushers.

  2. sorry to bring up such an old thread but I'm considering this mod to my 90 legacy and was kind of shopping around for tire prices and such and the guy at the tire store was adamant that if I were to put outback 15" rims with 205s it simply would not fit even with outback struts/springs.... just wondering if anyone has done this successfully.
  3. Oh yeah I've got an 88 GL 4x4 but it just looks funny saying full-time 4wd instead of AWD. but yeah its a 90.
  4. Yeah I was a bit ravenous wanting them steelies o well i can find some at the JY, but I was thinking this probably should've been posted in this thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103426 seeing as its called "What have you done to your soobie lately?"
  5. So went ahead and got it took a stethoscope to it and it sounds like the water pump engine is fine as you can hear it purr so a decent gamble paid off. Oh and according to the title its a 90 and on the inside it says "Full-time 4wd" was that AWD before they named it that or something different?
  6. makes a good coffee table though.... built in cup holder.... but if you happened to be needing a new home for them... lol
  7. Yeah it really is a nice bumper good job on that but the closet? Really? That's no place for tires shame shame shame....
  8. Yeah I think I'm just gonna pick it up, if all goes bad I'll have a body to part out and 8 tires including 4 winter tires though after thinking about it and considering 91loyale's suggestion it might be a loose pulley on the timing belt or serpentine belt. Also looked at a perfectly fine (with only 130k on it) legacy though the guy wanted 2k for it maybe a lower offer that may pan out, though I can say that if it was a manual and he didn't seal up the sunroof I may have swung it but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
  9. Well they won't sell a caliper after all but they aren't too expensive. Also the main reason I've been wondering whether are not to fix this one up or get a legacy is the rust damage and also going up a 5% grade or higher I max out at 35 mph in 3rd gear the whole way just wondering if that's the nature of the beast that is EA82 or if I'm losing power somewhere.
  10. I'll check those and it is a manual and the clutch feels like there's quite some life in it (not tight like they tend to get at the end.) hmm all this info is making me consider calling it off... He said it was making the noise when he purchased it (2 mo ago) and it was obviously never addressed so if there wasn't damage there very well could be. what I was hoping for was just the timing was off or even in need of a new timing belt but it sounds like possibly piston damage which is not worth it to me.
  11. I don't think its piston slap due to it not going away with run time just when its over I'd say about 2500 rpm the only reason I'm considering it is the price though the mileage is 245k.
  12. I was looking at a 91 legacy nice body with the exception of paint fade and a cracked windshield, for$800 and the guy is sort of holding it for my until his title comes in. the only thing is though that under 2k rpm there is a "knocking" noise (sounds like a chain going around in a circle) and was wondering what it could possibly be the sound sounds its coming from the front part of the engine and like i said goes away once the throttle goes down. also cruise control doesn't work... not sure if that's related or not.
  13. Yeah I'm thinking I'll just fix it up and the rotor new is only $26 so I'll just play it safe on that. Just head to the u pull to get the caliper and thanks for the offer to help ShawnW
  14. So the title says it my driver side caliper seized and was not able to be rebuilt so I need a new one on my EA82 wagon. It'll need a new caliper and a new rotor as it is too thin to be machined anymore and has warped slightly. The replacement of those doesn't seem to be too bad (under $100) but the dilemma I have is I may have the chance (as in have the money and they are for sale) to purchase a Legacy soon so I'm deciding whether to fix up the EA82 I have.... any insight on that? oh the EA82 has cancer throughout the rear and front fenders but is mechanically sound with only 168k on the engine/body. Plus I did the clutch and one CV joint and new tires within the last 3k and replaced all pads shoes and machined all the rotors/drums (except the front one didn't help). such a hard decision I know I will keep only one car.
  15. Also to add my two cents EA81s might be a good place to start out as they are simpler engines to work on. That's a pretty high price for what that car needs done good to just let that one go.
  16. Yeah I'll check that and that kinda makes sense as the clutch doesn't always return all the way back, and sorry if i hijacked this topic.
  17. Yeah mine is acting up as well and now my tranny is acting up it grinds when i put it in reverse and 1st is getting harder and harder to get into..... could they be related?
  18. Found this one in Durango, http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1698474197.html not a bad deal for an EJ22 and it's not even broken in yet though its a Sedan, so sorry if you're looking for a Wagon. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1695056416.html here's a cheap wagon that needs some work.
  19. I'm pretty sure all scrap yards cut the cat's out as I think it's illegal to sell a used one and they have precious metals in them.... most of the time. I'm thinking you need to find someone who is parting out theirs and buy the pipes -the cat and then get a new cat if you need emissions or just replace it with some exhaust pipe you can get at any auto store for about $6. Then just weld it on, won't look pretty but will do.
  20. Sounds good, check for the rust of course check the fluids make sure they are normal, (i.e. no flakes) check the 4x4 goes in good, check the clutch and if its doesn't release til the end it'll need a new one soon (which is a good way to talk them down off the price) and just take it for a test make sure no noises come up . other than that I can't think of anything.... though I'm sure GD will have a list of reasons not to go with an ea82 ;p
  21. Got replacement bolts for the Yakima rack, and charged up my self jumpstarter and refilled the back windshield washer reservoir. I may just cut it out and re weld it... definitely will start with the front fenders and work my way back. Also the A/C doesn't blow cold air so would it better to replace the A/C or just take it to a shop to be refilled?
  22. Hit up the u pull n pay today and I was in hog heaven Loyales and GLs as far as the eye can see even saw a few BRATs, finally found a flange to silence the exaust, that little piece that covers the center bolt on the dash, and a rubber piece to hold up the hood prop. (though somehow I lost it while searching for a rubber mallet in the back) also spotted some fenders and they are even the same color as my car.... I need to replace all 4 but just found 3.... though anyone know if a Loyale SW's rear fenders will fit onto a GL SWs body? Also the fenders are just bolted on right? No spot welding?
  23. Replaced the battery today... (it died a very unfortunate death and had no sense for timing.)
