  2. im looking at a 93 imp wag. the guy said it sat for awhile, he replaced the fuel pump after it sat and he says it ran great for weeks. he said it started not firing under load. im thinking timing since this happened to my ea82 and i reset the timing and its purring now. im aware that old/dirty gas could be a problem. MAC and idler sensor replaced. im trying to go look at it this week and itll be my first "new" sube. so whats the deal folks? ***ok, so im going to look at it tonight. what would make the motor puke and die under load? fuel filter? more sensor fun? he said it hasnt had timing belts changed since he bought it 10 years ago. please respond so i can swoop a good deal(hopefully)**** RV
  3. oh, dont get me wrong, i was just trying to be comedic/sarcastic. there was no d-baggery percieved. carry on RV
  4. DUDE, ITS A FRANKENMOTOR!!!! POWER IS NOT T HE ISSUE!! EVEN IF YOUR HOPPED UP EA81 THINGY HOOKED UP W/ YOUR MODS HIS MOTOR WILL BREAK IT!!!! just sayin RV
  5. welcome home. stop looking elsewhere. actually keep looking so you can see why this is the only/best place to go. "ultimate" subaru message board RV
  6. welcome home this is the place to be as far as anything soob related. RV
  7. im sad i didnt make it but even wifey is clamoring to go next year. our daughter will be two and my loyale will be............well lets say better than stock. monstaru: i can read now and thank you for your hard guidance. i operate much the same way in my life. patience is a weakness, again looking forward to meeting you next year if not sooner. RV
  8. thats cool, turns out i just had a loose TB, ended up w/ a 88gl-10 parts car. i still may hit you up in the future for that car if i destry mine (its on its way). RV
  9. ****disclaimer**** if i were me or anyone else for that matter i would listen to the smarts of people like GD and turbone, theyve forgotten more about roos than ill prolly ever know. Luckily i havent ruined anything doing things the wrong way YET. a few well placed smacks are the way to go imo when not using a puller. do not go all gung ho smashing it till it lets go. RV ps much respect
  10. ya all of the steering wheels ive pulled are ea82(3 of em) they are really hard, but possible. ive bent a couple at PAP in half:lol: like i said: be a man, drink a beer and alternate wiggling side to side then up and down. a puller would have come in handy but then i wouldnt have had beer money RV
  11. damn, glad i didnt buy that car. i woulda broke it sooner, and worse im sure RV
  12. taking a steering wheel off does not require a puller. loosen the nut almost all the way but dont take it off(unless you wanna bust out your teeth) pull hard, wiggle, and have somebody hit the nut HARD while doing so. be a man, itll work. ive done this several times with no ill effects. RV
  13. you get those int. parts yet? timing sucks with these things, im still fiddling with mine. one of these days ill learn to do it right RV
  14. i dont know if this helps or not so, sorry if it doesnt. on my festiva i would have oil in the intake sometimes and it seemed to be coming from the breather tubes. it didnt seem to hurt anything and everyone i talked to back then said it was no big deal RV
  15. hey charlie, nice to have you here. welcome home RV
  16. ahem, DONT DO IT!!! it wont work, alloys are weak enough as it is and drilling them only makes it worse. go to the junkyard and get yourself some steelies and do it right RV
  17. there are people with more exp. than me so maybe i should let them comment but yes the 4wd system will work, but i think the gas tank is different. RV
  18. good lord man, i musta had enough beer to not fully grasp the insanity of that car when you were up here last. you NEED to suffer and drive it up here next time so i can see/believe it. oh btw that lagunitas stout kicked rump roast. much luck slowing that thing down, hope the brake stuff works RV
  19. first of all...............welcome as for the tick, everyone will tell you it wont hurt your car. the tick of death is just a scary name. lots of stuff can cause it, and i would go for the flush to see if you can clean out the lifters and get em pumping up again RV
  20. make sure your castle nut is torqued enough.....and check the wedge washer for damage as these things could be preventing your bearings from being tight. RV
  21. tacoma pull a part regularly has available parts for both of those cars. i love my loyale but id love to have a justy.........you could always put a 13b in that beezy and haul the mail or keep the rpms low and save gas. or, drive the 3 cyl and destroy gas mileage. bottom line: if its strictly for commuting, justy. if your gonna use it for anything else, go ea82 and tune up/t belts .02 RV
  22. my dad has a 89 s10 w/ 4.3 80k those motors rock. and vortec(port polish) RV
  23. ***caution limited experience*** itd prolly be a bunch of work but is the head still good on the old motor? if they are similar could you not swap them??? again, i have NO exp w/ ej's but methodically it makes cents to me (corrections expected) RV
  24. welcome home........if you are ever down in the tacoma area lets have beers RV PS love that green
  25. ya i could do anything really.........theyre custom shirts, she drew the logo and everything in the computer RV
