  1. Cmiller , myself met Teamcf in Camas,Wa and then headed out hwy 14 to Prindle,Wa . Up the foothills we went onto some great trail runnin. Within the first 20min I spotted a bobcat runing away from us down the rd..we got that on video.. Next it was powerline fun and some challenging terrain, a nice creek Xing., tank traps, Cmiller and teamcf needed just a quick pull up this rutted section and had almost made it..a foot short.. We wound up in a gated area..doh.. While backtracking to the powerline. I was cruising the gravel rd...had my lights on...then a KW came into view I tested my new RX disc brakes well...and almost ditched the hatch... The truck driver was really kewl and opened the gate for us.. On we went over to Washogal river rd. and up to Three Corner rock.. the views were breathtaking.. Hood, Jefferson, Adams, St. helens,Rainier...Goat rocks...plus the gorge... we found a nice trail down...jeep double track.. on our way to the show. on the way my left front cv was poppin abit.. not good.. so I milked for all she was worth... We went down and up a powerline only to find ourselves backtrackin and then finding our way down a a nasty loose rocky switchback..with pucker factor .. We were at Greenleaf pk...once down we hooked on to a gravel rd right to the show...it was epic to say the least.. We made camp . Then walked over to Walkingman brewing for a cold one and pizza...
  2. Team cf , myself, Gloyale + friend...all 4 ea81's ..headed out from camp over to Hood river and up to the foothills.. on the same trail as we did WCSS8 @ Surveyors ridge.. First we had a cooling fan issue with Gloyales ea81 4dr sedans fan not coming on.. after some quick rewiring we were off. Yea you read it right an ea81 sedan(non lifted) 3eat 4wd. did the trail with ease...nice work.. on the way we hit some side rds. and abit of heavy brushing.. so I was backing out of it(had the rear side hatch windows open) and a loud "POP" the right rear window broke out... luckily my son was in the back in the middle and had alot of protection from glass as our sleeping pads took the brunt of glass..whew.. It was abit hot but now we had A/C...no biggie..it's summer..I won't be leaving the side back windows open when brushing ...thx to Doug fir... We had a nasty climb from the powerline and the sedan cruised up like it was nothin' with street tires...Fist sized loose rocks and long steep grade.. I was awesome .. Gloyale had power issues and had to use the hill holder to make it up ... Possible fuel pump or filter.. We had great views of Mt. Hood and the valley below... While sitting atop the ridge we saw two sailplanes release right above us and soar upwards in the thermals... We headed down to the gravel pit and played around climbing over the top..Gloyale got highcentered over the top...after a quick nudge he was over... Once we headed down the power line trail there was a really tight switchback with a small stump sticking out ... Gloyale managed to hit it with a left front tire and broke a radius rod and bent everything inward making left turns very difficult.. Once down we stopped for an extended break and he gave his rig a couple good pulls from a tree and straightened out the suspension to drive home. Our last stop was at White river canyon @ sunset...with Mt.hood in the backdrop.. It was a perfect end to fun 3 day weekend... We all made it home safely... Post up ur vids links & pics here... Cheers, Gregg
  3. After a quick run through the mudpit we got a small group together for a trail run close by..Post up ur pics and video link here... A total of 6 rigs including an Isuzu Rodeo who've never been wheelin'... It was an intermediate trail with short steep climbs, sand, mud, rocky ,rutted, exposure, with some tank traps(water bars for runoff). At the show parking lot the camo hatchbrat needed a front brake hose I had two spares.. so that was our first prob. before we got started.. a quick run up to the power lines we found some short steep climbs for fun and some sand at the top while we regrouped.. Next we headed of to our trail and Teamcf had a leaking brake fitting @ the mast. cyl . quick fix of we go.. The fun begins with some rocky climb that was abit challenging for some . the hatchbrat broke a stub shaft(welded diff). Michael Appel almost rolled and had his wagon on two wheels right in front of me... Teamcf showed us how it was done with open diff. and flawless run up..!!! I don't even think he spun a tire...! A quick mud section and climb out n' back then Team cf slipped a steering rack bushing out...a quick fix.. Later on we came to a split for a challenge ... the rutted climb or the tight tree rutted climb with a 10ft drop exposure... not too far later the hatchbrat busted a rear cv so he was two wheel drive now.. I was gettn abit low on fuel so I borrowed a couple gallons in exchange for the brake hose... We had some great views of hte gorge as well... The tank traps were abit challenging right to the end.. The rodeo almost made the last one until he hi centered...doh.. A quick pull from "clifford big red leggo.." and he was over... unfortunately he ripped the lift block bolts out from the unibody ... He made it back to camp and repaired it. kudos for the Rodeo couple for a first wheelin run ..nice work !!! despite a few setbacks eveyone came away with big smiles.. Good times ... I will post up pics soon..post ur vid links and pics here... Cheers, Gregg
  4. It was a great show! We had 3 days of offroad sweetness to enjoy:banana: The turnout was awesome .... Thx to all those who helped put the show together....
  5. I'm getting some stuff from Monstaru in spokane so anyone who needs a delivery to or from PDX/sokane let me know asap.. a couple bucks for gas would be kewl... 503-314-7535 Gregg
  6. It's was good times... I'll post up more pics and start a 3day wheelin trip thread..
  7. got my lsd fix.. it's in..testing begins backroads /trials enroute WCSS..
  8. Wahoo! I scooped out the area a few yrs ago and was bummed no trails...nice area!! I'll be volunteering trail work:banana:
  9. not sure yet..my cell# 503-314-7535 cb channel 28
  10. Team cf and I found about a 2 mile trail not far from the show...alittle sand, mud, rocks, tank traps, hillclimbs, great views of the gorge... We are doing this fri before the fairgrounds open.. our caravan will be doing lolo pass enroute to the fairgrounds.. 503-314-7535
  11. Team cf and I found an awesome trail about 2mi long full of sube goodness yesterday near the fairgrounds..."Shh....I didn't say that..." So If ya hook up with us At lolo pass (Mt.Hood ) or at Parkdale, Or.. Fri we can have a sube cararvan..and get some trails in before the fairgrounds open...! my cell 503-314-7535 cb ch 28 however, reception sucks near the powerlines...
  12. I finished the shifter console, carrier bearing mounts, rear driveline resized, rear disc. hubs redrilled to 6 lug.. I might actually have time to do my LSD swap... Gotta finish my bumper welding/winch wiring....so much to do before the WCSS... I think it's kinda funny ...I purchased my hatch one week before last years show...it wasn't even driveable...
  13. upullit LKQ in tigard,Or just got a 5mt in a 2000 forester...! no idea on mileage..digital gauges....doh...
  14. the 5spd is in and my driveline will be done sat. I cut the two trans. mounts up and welded the two together to work with ea81 to ea82 mounts. It looks factory.. The rear disc swap is done..except for redilling the hubs to 6lug . I rewired the 5spd by using both harnesses to have a factory look and function..all my indicator lights work.. I just need to finish up the console with a ea82 to fit the ea81. I swapped the rear diff . to open and two rear axles...mine were DOA..
  15. I swapped my 5psd trans today...just the driveline left and console.. It drives great in 2wd...smooth shifts...no shot syncros... and reverse doesn't grind.... I don't like the starter setup ..so I'll get an ea82 starter so it works properly... I need to rewire the sensors for the ea81 harness(hi/lo range) to the ea82 harness. Tommorrow the rear disc swap goes in ...had to order rear brake hoses to the calipers..upullit cut them..... I'll post pics soon..
  16. I was at u pullit and found an 86 RX..So I promptly took the LSD out and rear disc brakes... I will have to convert the LSD to a 3.9 as it is a 3.7 ratio..
  17. I found some 6lug Isuzu wheels and painted them black. A redilling of the hubs was fun...I fitted the wheels with some free wild country rvt A/T that were from a scapped van in our shop yard They were like new.. 235/75/15 (28.9"dia) . abit of fender trimming firewall bashing..
  18. I just picked up a 5spd D/R from upullit so my hatch is getting the conversion...My 3rd gear syncro is shot on the 4spdD/R(as it was when I got the car...) . I looks like I can reuse my ea81 flywheel until I do the EJ swap. Spacing of the starter 4/6mm back with washers. My driveline cut to 48" tube only Will the clutch cable work ok ? My ea81 is 36.25" long and the Ea82 is 33.4" Also is the speedo drive on the Ea81 trans the same as the Ea82 ? Other than the shift linkage mount is there anything else to modify?
  19. Kewl, Maybe after wheelin the hatch Sunday @TSF I could chk it out....
  20. Looks like a few hot springs in the area too....one near greenleaf pk. about 4 miles from town. Possible wheelin at the powerlines and a route to Three corner rock which has some awesome singletrack for mtn bikers..! Wind river has some great singletrack as well..lots of downhill if ya shuttle.. Beacon rock is close by for those who rock climb as well. PCT is close too for hikers.. maybe I'll buy a salmon from one of the indians for $20 @ cascade locks... Fire up the barbe..
  21. I'll be there in my hatch.... I guess I'll have to explore more over there for the trails.... Hopefully we'll have a trailrun.. I'll be takin the scenic wheelin route thru Lolo pass at Hood then Hood river foothills for some friday action...before the show...
