  1. If anybody could tell me the part number(s) for the taller kyb outback shocks that would be awesome of you. I remember reading that certain early outbacks weren't actually any taller, and I don't want to buy the wrong ones and get skunked. BTW, they are for my 93 leggy, I'm doing a mild build up with struts, taller rims/tires and a few other little things. Thanks.
  2. Details, year, model, miles and engine would make this a lot easier to look out for :-\
  3. Quoted for truth. Ive done two Leggy wagon tail lights, the first time I didn't realize they were glued in (with sticky tar s h i t) and broke the first nice one I found by rippin and tearing at it like an idiot. Nice steady pressure.
  4. Guys run these on their modded rinos and and golf carts around here all the time. Amazingly loud on the highway!
  5. Looks good. I think after some body work, and a re-spray of the trim it will look a hundred time better. Oh, and I through in tint just for fun.
  6. Sort of on topic, but everyone should be aware that another big danger is welding over any brake cleaner, as the small amount of gas produced is phosgene, a very nasty nerve agent that causes scaring of the lungs :-\ EXAMPLE: http://www.brewracingframes.com/id75.htm
  7. This guy makes a 4" kit with the steering extension for $450 http://subarugllifted.webs.com/liftkits.htm Oh, and nice job completely ignoring Ratty2Austin post :-\
  8. To answer your question My cars are both 93s. As far as the outback with the "extreme" HG problem, forget it. That thing will need a motor swap or at the least new heads. Keep looking... For two grand you should be able to find a 95ish 2.2 leggy and then just swap in the outback struts to get the extra clearance. Yes its that easy. Head to the off road section for more info on it.
  9. I can only speak of the 2.2 with the highest regard. Having owned two cars with this motor it is crazy reliable with only basic maintenance. My first legacy had well over 200,00 miles on it when I sold it (bought it at 150,000), never had a problem. My current Legacy with the 2.2 has 140,000 on it (bought at 46,000) with the biggest problem being a failed alternator. Both were/are manuals. I understand the 2.5s have head gasket problems, but I wouldn't know from experience, just what I have heard and read about.
  10. Hey all, I was wondering if anybody has a list (or link to one) of rims from other manufacturers that fit our cars without modification? I have an older legacy I would like to grab a set of 15" wheels for and after looking through a local yard I got curious about it. Audi? Chevy? VW? Trucks/cars? Anyone tried other rims themselves and know for sure? Thanks in advance.
  11. Thats great. Whats your story? People don't like Subarus in Kenya? Thats too bad. I am really curious what kind of Subaru you drive and what you have done with it. Cheers.
  12. Since you will have both engine out at the same time, why not do the Frankenmotor? 2.5 heads on the 2.2? I hear its good for a nice boost in power.
  13. I got bored tonight and decided to make a couple of subie .gifs. What do you think? If you have any post em up! Sweet pics too, why not? Oh, and how do you build lift blocks? Kidding.
  14. Sweet. I hope to get an AZ trail run going this spring, hope your forester will be up for it.
  15. Does anyone know if I will need to lengthen my steering if I use these in combo with outback shocks? I figure it would be just under a 3" combined. I have a 93 leggy.
  16. Yeah, looks like long trails are on the way out. Oh, also, as soon as you put the stuts on the car your rear wheels will be brought forward slightly. By measuring from the center of the tire out to the wheel well you will find room for only something smaller than 27" making it not a good idea because it will be rubbing the wheel well. You can fix this by swapping in the longer OB rear trailing arm or just trimming up the wheel well if you really want the 27s. No big deal. There is a great thread where a guy did this and was like WTF?! The tire moved forward? I can't find the thread right now, but it was a red 1st gen Legacy...
  17. Here is a short list of up-sized tires for you that I have made, hope it helps. Tire size Diameter 185/70-14 , 24.2in , Stockers. 195/75-14 , 25.5in , BFGoodrich Tires ALL-TERRAIN T/A KO LT195/75R14 $115 205/75-14 , 26.1in , BFGoodrich Tires RADIAL LONG TRAIL T/A 205/75R14 $75 225/70-14 , 26.4in , Cooper Tires DISCOVERER M+S $104, Walmart Uniroyal liberators $90. This is the perfect sized in my opinion for the strut lift height. 27X8.50R14 27.0 General Grabber AT2 and TA/KOs (yes, the BFGs are being brought back this year).
  18. These look perfect for what I want, and plan on using them together with outback stuts on my leggy. Keep this posted and if you do go into production count me in. Quick question, even though you don't seem concerned with the camber, why not just cut them at a 15 degree angle anyway? Is it particularly hard with the material used? Seems like it would help a lot esp if you went higher later on.
  19. MUCH BETTER. I would consider actually owning a Baja if they came like that from the factory. Now if it had a little bit of a lift...:-p
