  1. 4 runners and blazers are both excellent vehicles people. Yeah the four runner is a bit underpowered but its reliable as heck and hard to break. The blazers are great vehicles and the 4.3 vortec is one of the most tough and reliable motors around. the only issue we had on ours was the tranny went out but $500 got us a new rebuilt one installed (we know some good cheap tranny experts). Ours has 140,000 and besides the fact that it will need a starter soon is great. As far as handling issues i sure as heck know the yotas aint much better and keep in mind a large SUV is not going to handle anything like a subaru
  2. im have a 1985 jeep cherokee with a 2.5 liter 4 banger and it was just running last week but then died out and wouldnt start. i assumed it was just out of gas as what usually happens when you romp in a jeep all day long LOL. yesterday though i try adding gas to start it up and it would just turn over and not show any signs of wanting to go. i checked and it was getting fuel and i know it haqs good compression and air flow so that leaves spark/timing as the two culprits. i took off the spark plug and coil and turned it over. I saw it wasnt getting any spark what so ever. The spark plug is good and the coil didnt seem corroded so i guess that would likely mean the distributor is bad. What im wondering though is could it be possible that a wire got knocked loose inside it cause correct me if im wrong but i didnt think that distributors just broke like that unless they got got into very deep water which it hadnt at that time. Another question i had is how likely is it that it could have jumped time or something like that. It didnt really knock or do anything weird so i dont think it did but i have no idea why it would just go out like that. Lastly im hoping i can figure out this issue on my own but if not if anybody knows a good honest mechanic who charges a fair price in the North Idaho, east Washington area if you can get me their contact info that would be great.
  3. Hey u get the pics of the buggy i sent you through email?

  4. As every one else is saying the skys truly you limit on what you wanna do with a chevy 350. Anything from a subaru to a snow blow theres a chevy 350 ready to be put in it if your redneck enough.
  5. I have a really nice subaru buggy that well put together. for some reason my computer wont load the pics to this site but if anyone wants some specs send a PM for contact info and ill get you some pics via email. u can kinda see it in my avatar.
  6. hit me up on facebook at Jeremy Gerhardt or drop me an email at brumbyracer420@gmail.com if you ever wanna meet up and do some 4wding.

  7. Yeah feel free to come by the place. ive been meaning to organize some sort of a 4wd meet sooner or later. I also have a lifted up jeep and chevy blazer to mud in along with the buggy and blue suby. ill tell ya my little subaru may not be the best climber or rock crawler though i can usually keep up with the full sized trucks good enough but what it can do is drift and jump like no other. ive taken that suby through moto cross tracks and it keeps going where even quads are scared to jump at. i pretty familiar with Blanchard also. We are on Clagstone if your familiar with that road.
  8. to bad toyota prius is definently the most fuel efficient vehicle and paying $40,000 for a death trap on wheels with a weed wacker engine fused with a modern computer is the way to go. No i dont want you smelly diesel LOL. When will enviromentalists ever learn?
  9. i dont know if there even available in the US and if they are they may be far out of your budget but a subaru boxer diesel would get excellent mileage.
  10. LOL your lucky. Before you know it well be having three feet of snow here and my only vehicle with a roof isnt 4wd. i guess im better off cold then stuck LOL.
  11. Yeah the rings are important. i know on my old GL wagon before i got it, it sat for 7 years. Luckily the rings were and still are ok. What we did was try moving the distributor around to find its sweet spot and it ran after that and a couple of fuel lines. Do you have any idea exactly why the car had been sitting so long in the first place cause that there can tell a lot of info about what it might need.
  12. hey i just saw ur post for my introduction. if you ever wanna go muddin hit me up some time. i got my brat buggy which needs a fuel pump :( but hopefully ill fix that soon. i also got a lifted up jeep and chevy blazer to mud in. feel free to stop by the place some time if you wanna fling some mud on our track. if you have a facebook and wanna check out some of my subaru pics (and wrecks LOL) feel free to add me under Jeremy Gerhardt.

  13. welcome aboard im in Idaho also though im way up North.
  14. Feel free to stop by some time. i live down clagstone. Its the house in the with all the mudders around and stuff. i got a sick rally track at my place along with some mud pits.
  15. V8 suby definently aint the weirdest thing on the market.
  16. 4.3 vortec would work awesome. A stock 4.3 actually puts outs more HP then a 2 barrel 350 and theres loads of room for mods. idk about where you like but in Idaho decent 4.3s are practically a dime a dozen. if you do decide to go V8 id like to see a diesel even though the weight would be insane and would require A LOT of work. then again 40 mpg out of a very fast car sounds cool.
  17. Welcome aboard im a newb here also. your kinda close to where im at in Athol.
  18. Tell me aboot it. They impunded our car once. luckily we got it back. Apparently someone forgot to take the revolver out of the trunk and the Canadians dont take to kindly to that.
  19. yeah im fairly close to there. About 20 miles away.
  20. im up north. Do you know where silverwood theme park is. im 2 miles from there.
  21. Hi im in Athol idaho and i own two subarus. One is a dune buggy made out of a subaru brat ea81 engine 4 speed dual range etc. the other is an 81 subaru wagon thats been beat to heck and back with over 220,000 miles a good portion of which have been used on a rally track. its been rolled wrecked and through everything in between but still will not stop cranking. SUBARUS rule. i hope to learn some stuff hear and hopefully help where i can. thanks and happy posting.
