  1. Haha thank you Charles! I feel old now lol
  2. Started on the rears. Got rears off. Gotta put them together on my friends compression tool. Took pics but they were more than 2mb. Will redo the pics and post
  3. Hey grizzly, Just a small update. I actually didnt need to order the westar bushings for the rear struts because new bushings came with the struts. However new bushings didnt come with the fronts for some reason. Instead of spending anymore time on hold i just ordered the kit for $20. I should have everything i need by friday so i should have some updates by next weekend at the latest. Needless to say i am getting antsy to get this done to say the least. Front bushing kit part number: Moog k9221 ~ comes with 4 bushings and hardware
  4. Just a bit of an update with some info. I got the following Front top mounts: Moog k9557 - there were 2 other brands listed on summits website but it didnt specify whether they came with the bearings or not. I tried to call customer service but my kids wouldnt let me stay on the phone longer than the 15 minutes i was on hold for... Summit did not list a bushing kit for the rears but i found a couple of options on rock auto. I went with the following: Westar st3984 They had a bushing kit from gabriel as well but they didnt look as stout as the westars. I wouldve ordered the moog fronts from them but they wanted you to buy 6 at a time. I should get both sets next week and will update
  5. Thanks 2.7! I got the springs and struts but will have to wait as i need to order too mounts for the front and bushings for the rear. Bushings are pretty worn so id just like to go new all the way around. And a big thank you for that write up!
  6. According to 2.7s thread the 854s are non progressive. I ordered those along with struts and accord springs for the rear. They should be here friday! Im stoked Thanks forthe info Ferp
  7. Okay cool. I may just try using these tophats then. Oddly enough the tophats seem like the most expensive parts on the list. I havent decided which way to go and may just do the new struts for now and upgrade the springs later. Knowledge is power and having choices is even better..... Eta: gonna place my order tomorrow for the 854s and the struts
  8. Charles, Thank you for response! In my haste i forgot to ask if anyone has tried the kia springs so im glad you responded. Couple of questions 1) did ypu just try the kia springs first and then found that you needed something more? Or did you do both springs from the get go? 2) are you using the top hat thats listed in 2.7's thread? 3) did using the kia springs negatively effect your axle angle? Im not keen on buying a new spring only to cut it either. Nothing is specifically mentioned about having to cut the 854s on either 2.7s thread or adventuresubarus webpage. I dont want a super harsh ride
  9. Im getting ready to order springs and struts and was looking for some feedback on springs before i order. Background: 90 lifted/subframed loyale (obxt's old car) 2.2 swapped dual range Im getting the kyb gr's as well and was wondering which spring you guys prefer that have them. The moog 854's or the 856's? I livein the mountains on a dirt road and do a mix of road and offroad driving. Ive read 2.7's thread but im unsure about a few things. Are the 856 that much stiffer than the 854s? It is mentioned that the tempo springs help the axle angle where others make it worse but is that the 854s or 856s or do both not hinder the angle? I finally have a decent job and eliminated my debt so i can put money into Lt.dan(loyales name) that he deserves.
  10. Just did the ford fuel pump install and it went very smooth on my 90 loyale. Doing some research right now for either the 2.2t or the 2.5 block with 2.2 heads. Basically tear it down and clean everything up
  11. ive never really been a fan of toyotas engines couple that with them saying all the out of control pruis's were due to a faulty peddle but then called nasa in to investigate. it takes a rocket scientist i tell ya lol the brz is the only car subaru has style wise that i like to look at. maybe even drive one day lol it seems like most of their stuff looks like to many other cars in my opinion. maybe its the toyota in them...
  12. that sounds cool but what id love to do is go to i70 in colorado and take the old mining passes down to silverton and ouray. i finally have the rigs to do it too. while moab is close and would def be cool i just dont have time for an out of state run with our first kid on the way next month. ive been dying to do this mining run since i lived down in durango.
  13. welcome im up in glen haven. theres a couple guys in lyons and a bunch in the valley.
  14. hey give him a break...looks like he went so fast he lost his rear spinner hubcap and possibly drove through a pigeon nieghborhood where they all just had bad taco bell....
  15. Where in co you at? if you ever come up to estes drop me a line! I have a 90 loyale (lt. Dan) and a gl-10 (bubba) . plus you can test it out driving through glen haven. Lt dan was first vehicle out of fox creek/north fork after the flood. Had to use the atv trail to get out. Your sube is lookin good! t
  16. Just my 2cents: keep low if at all possible. The low really helps in those 2-3 foot snow storms. Being in Estes Park and understanding the drive you do. Even when I had my RX I could bust through drifts no problem. Now I use 4 lo a lot just to get to my cabin in glen haven.....but thats another story...
  17. Id go for vera instead Or i can just blast godzilla by blue oyster cult. Got new tie rods and aligned. Was thinking dual batts due to putting emergency lights on but now im leaning to optima yellow. Also gonna replace windshield rubber and undercoat it.
  18. Any fans of firefly/serenity? Thinking of calling it jane
  19. Boxer Obk25xt made it. Let me see if i can find the thread on it ....tried looking but couldnt find it. Try pm'ing ob and see if he can point You in right direction. Im not used to it yet....estes had a car show yesterday. I ended Up havin couple of real nice model t's in front of me. 5 people walk up and take a pic of the subie and totally ignored the t's. I was almost offended until i remembered it was mine they were taking pics of.
  20. So i bought obk25xt's creation from sds (who is awesome to work out a deal with). My better half and i drove down to roswell and picked it up which was an interesting trip. have to say i liked new mexico better at night...no offense sds We ended up stopping in rye to change an axle and then it was smooth sailing 75-80 rest of the way Ive already been on numerous fire calls with it and love it. Get 20-25mpg, seats are super comfy thanks to the sti seats. It actually corners really well and i can go almost anywhere in it. I havent had time to start a photo bucket but heres a link to a pic for now http://m1068.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/roswellhvac/subaru11.jpg.html?o=37
  21. so two days of no lifter noise and today it returned which I expected. Hopefully now when I do the oil change and add a BG MOA it will cease. I havent seen marvel's mystery oil but have heard of it. Is it similar to BG MOA?
  22. ahh the great sound of acronyms! I used seafoam after doing the timing belts, pulleys, water pump, upper rad hose, coolant temp sensor and an interesting belt setup as the a/c compressor is no longer there. So far after a couple of trips the tick is either super quiet or gone. I put some in the oil as well and plan on an oil change about 125 miles or so from now. Thanks for tip Flow. Not sure how tall you are, but does the shifter being shorter change the way you sit from previous (just out of curiousity)? I'm gonna try this i'm not quite sure what to do but i'm missing the trim piece on the driver rear quarter so you can see the seat belt retractor through the hole. The trim and window dressing all the way around needs some help but what are your thoughts on that trim piece?
