The '86 Wagon
Work has been heaping on the OT, haven't had much time to do any work to this thing. Finally got the engine stripped down enough to get the heads off and inspect them. This engine being very weak and having poor compression, I wasn't expecting much. The engine was a lovely golden orange on the inside, super toasty. Once I got the heads off I was not suprised to see cracks between all the valves. Took the valves out, each intake and exaust port is cracked. These heads are too far gone to repair. The search continues for a donor. :-p

1986 GL-10 Bumper, Difference!
Well just by looking at this sedan, the rear license plate is mounted between the tail lights vs under the bumper like in the US. I think the wheels might even be Canadian specific.

1986 GL-10 Bumper, Difference!
Its just a Canadain spec ea82 bumper. They look different than usdm. In 1986 (usdm) it would still be the flat-faced bumpers.

My 1985 Brat
Did a bit of searching and got an idea of what will produce the best ride quality while lowering the ride height. What struts give the lowest height? ea81 turbo struts or ea81 fwd struts Springs? fwd or turbo? Looking at these here, love this website; http://www.jcwhitney.com/kyb-gr-2/excel-g-shock-absorber/p2017690.jcwx?skuId=1241492&filterid=d1927y1983g996j1 Civic springs wont really work, the coils are not as wide. Searching for other options...

My 1981 MV (UK BRAT)
Exactly, it is a right-hand drive Brat. UK Brat = MV Australia Brat = Brumby The base wagons, sedans, etc. were also called Leones in Australia and Japan; vs the trim levels. (GL or DL) In the UK the sedans and wagons are trims too, but go by ME, MV, etc. Nice Subie 81MV

Nah it was just wet in that picture. The paint is fairly decent, not like we get baking sun here in the PNW. You should make a build thread for your subies in the "members rides" section.- Better for the rumble: straight-thru or 'turbo' muffler?
In-car with my setup. Stock ea81 exaust, minus muffler and straight piped out to the back bumper.- subaru brat 1985 and 1979 builds
Hey, I've got an '85 too. Cheers and welcome to the forum.- The '86 Wagon
Thanks for the info Subruise- The '86 Wagon
What exactly makes the spfi ea82 have more compression than the carbed one? Is it the pistons? Heads? Block? Combination? I'm hunting for a fuelinjected longblock... coming up with either blanks or rediculous prices. Thinking I might just make a hybrid out of my engine if it is possible.- My 1985 Brat
So far this has been the best description: From this thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=592851 I'll start looking for some 2wd front struts now.- My 1985 Brat
