whatever number he uses for TWB fab has been disconnected for some time. His computer is down, and any other form of communication ive attempted to achieve has been a failure. whatever measures i take wont be drastic obviously (im not the mob) but business is business. maybe im coming off as impatient, maybe the fast-paced city life that i have is getting to me, i dont know. but i do know that a deal has been made and he needs to get a hold of me to at least tell me whats going on. the last time i talked with him he said he was going to send it the following day or so. from then its been a month and a half. to all those who know him well, have offroaded with him, or even work with him, please let him know that i need to get a hold of him. whether any one else is willing to wait 6 mo.s to get a package, i am not. especially without notice of when it would arrive. thanks. -
Alright, ive been trying to get my already-paid-for roof rack from tony (soobme) for over a month and a half now. ive attempted to contact him in every way i can think of with the limited information i have been given. Ive called him at two numbers, written him, pm'ed him, emailed him, and talked to a couple of people that live/work near him, etc. No answer. I called one of my friends there and asked him to check the phone book for the address. no entry. he then tried to find the business. no entry. he called information and tried to find both the address, person, and business. no entries. Can someone PLEASE find him and tell him to contact me and send me the roof rack, or at least my money back? this is getting out of hand. If i don't get a hold of him soon i WILL have do something about it. P.S. i did not mean to slander his name. I just wanted him to keep his end of the deal.

newbie manual question ...
SubaSkeet replied to Bubonik's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i shift at 4, i think 3s a little early. i keep it running at around 2500 rpm or lower when cruising. this is all kind of based on opinion, however. once you get more experience in it you'll develop your own feel for it. -
length will fit. i dont know about the width, depending on the rim you may have to add spacers (or a lug conversion) for it to fit without cutting into your cab. it also depends on the offset of the rim.
-
yeah, thats what i plan to do with the new rims. they come from a wagoneer so ill just say that they're going back on the wagoneer. no probs. think ill go for them libs that morgan hails on a pedestal .

I got some lights on the underside via the sheet metal near the rear of the bumper as previously noted. took some work, but if you drill some holes you can fish inside the bumper to stick on some bolts. ill try to get some pics when i get home.

make sure not to engage 4wd if youre going over say 5mph. ive hit up to 75 mph in 4 and had no probs with it afterwards. on the s/r pushbuttons the 4wd is hi so it can tolerate high speeds. even so, it can still climb like an atv. its a good range.

An easy one: Loyale chime (buzzer) location
SubaSkeet replied to ianw's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hah! mine up and died on me! well, it was more of a gradual thing. chimes started getting shorter in length then eventually just started clicking. dont matter to me either way. in fact, id rather it be off - reminded me of my alarm clock. this post was pointless. oh well. -
schweet... those racks really top off the looks overall. and the dog, of course. so no troubles in the walmart? lucky you... even with all the schtickers and decals i have on my car that say 4WD they wont mount offroad tires on my car. d*cks.

Overpriced Parts? $500+ for a heater core
SubaSkeet replied to NorthWet's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
this is what happens when you take your car to a shop that works on ricer hondas: 1 water pump = $250 labor for water pump = $300 total price = more than the FRIGGIN CAR!!! oh, and on a separate bill they fixed the a/c. that 'fixing' consisted of one wire that bypasses the hi pressure switch. bad idea. = $348.93 hmm, halloween tonight. got eggs? -
check the market.

Stumbling-it's been asked before....
SubaSkeet replied to turbosubi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
heres some general ideas, since i have no real good way to analyze it in depth: 1. fouled plugs (shouldnt be an issue since you just replaced them) 2. clogged filter (again, shouldnt be a prob) 3. air leak in the intake manifold 4. probs with emissions control system try checking the codes on your car via the ECU, see what it pulls up. -
help with my loyale intstrument panel
SubaSkeet replied to phifer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if they went off when you turned the parking lights/headlights on but went on when both were off that sounds like the switch was wired opposite, like pressing the off switch but turning it on and vice versa. id tear it apart and see what the wiring on the switch looks like, try swapping the wires around. -
EGR solenoid valve and AC fuse.
SubaSkeet replied to francis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
tis not a car de california. the 'line' (whatever they mean by that) is fine and holds the necessary pressure for the egr valve to open and close as needed. the ECU was cleared several times both ways (the battery way and the green plug way) and still pulled up the same code. i found the EGR to not have any affect on mileage, but i dont know what needs replacing if that is the only code that shows up. im not about to shell out 40-50 bucks to go get another out of a junkyard (considering i could find the non-carbed ea82 id need it from) just to clear a code, any other ideas? .... huh? -

im jacking this post since its been dormant for some time now. here's my problem: Skeet's attempt to fix his gas-guzzling loyale currently gets: 16mpg needs to get: anything higher than that, dammit things that could use replacement: spark plugs exhaust (from cat back) o2 sensor bladdidy bladdidy blah process: replace and adjust things that need to be replaced and find what needs to be fixed by using the oh-so-precious ECU. ECU pulled up code 34, egr solenoid. checked solenoid, works fine. analyzed this by bringing car to normal running temp, pulling throttle cable and watching the egr valve stem move at around 2k-3k rpm. completely fine working condition. car idles fine. checked ECU again afterwards. same code. WTF? question #1: why does the ECU pull up code 34 if the egr works fine? what is the logic of this special little device? Question #2: the exhaust gas recirculation system doesnt seem to be the culprit in bringing the mpg down on the car. is there a way to get the ECU to spit out more codes than the egr, since it doesnt seem the egr is even broken? Question #3: WHY ME!?!?! (rhetorical) -
Gotta have some Old School Representation....
SubaSkeet replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i think it comes down to what you like more. rallyx/racing, or true offroading. speed and no clearance, or slow and mo' clearance. some lift, some lower. if given the chance i think to have both types of cars would be the best mix. either way, it takes work to get it where you want it. or, get it where it should be. -
there are a couple of guys on the board that fab most of those racks you see on the heavy offroaders' cars. i know john (mudrat79) makes them and tony (soobme) makes them (but i havent got a hold of tony in a while). cheaper than buying from thule/yakima/etc. and just as durable. plus, built to specification. good luck, skeet
