Wcss 12 ?
Yes it would be fun to have a midwest wagon team show up. We could put them right next to the Canadians. Actually I was right next to the Canadians and we had a great time. Yes, thanks so much to the folks who worked so hard on WCSS in years past - you do a terrific job!

How rare are 1st gen and 2nd gen Subaru Brat?
You don't say where you live but I've noticed there are many more brats for sale on the west coast. Perhaps because of better weather and no salt. We recently bought an 1982 brat for $1,000 but it has issues with a lift kit and we did replace one CV joint but the body itself is in great shape. If you don't know how to wrench and don't plan to learn I would not recommend buying an old Subie whether it is a brat, hatch or wagon. But they are fantastic cars. We have an 82 Brat, 83 Wagon and 86 Hatch - all with EA81 engines. The wagon and hatch are daily drivers. But I think the Brat is getting an EJ motor we have sitting in the garage.

Another newbie hello
Welcome - keep an eye out for mention of WCSS12 (probably in July this year). This is the West Coast Subaru Show amd lots of Canadians come down for it. Show is usually held in July in Oregon or Washington. Lots of fun and a chance to meet really nice people and see great cars!

Nice. Wish I had the $. I have an 86 Hatch going on 226k miles. But it still runs great. Just needs a little TLC.

newbie from Greensboro n.c.
Welcome. Lots of great info here on all Subies and most folks are helpful. We currently have an 83 wagon and an 86 Hatch - both EA81's as we refer the simplier engine. However Ken is planning on doing an EJ22 swap into his wagon probably in the next year. He has the engine and adapter plate just needs a few more items and the time.

83 Brat sold in The Dalles OR
I thought the guy said it was high/low 4WD but might have been mistaken. But if you had seen a pic of it I'm sure just about anybody on the board would have jumped on it for $500. A guy named Tom from Portland bought it according to the seller.

83 Brat sold in The Dalles OR
Someone from Portland bought the nicest Brat I've ever seen (except at WCSS11) in The Dalles today. Believe purchase price was $500. Only 82k original miles on it. Alas we were the next people in line. Guy was supposed to pick it up yesterday but delayed till today as had broken pipes at his house. Seller just called us to let us know it was gone. Damn! Anyway what a steal - had a blow head gasket. Turbo automatic high and low 4WD. So question - did a board member in Portland pick this up? I'm thinking Pooparu?

new here from oregon
Welcome to the board. You will love the group. They are so helpful. Cresswell is by Eugene or Albany OR right? We're in the Portland area and have a 86 Hatch and a 83 Wagon. Went to the WCSS in Stevenson WA in August and had a blast. Keep an eye out - should be in July next year and will be somewhere here in the NW.
