  1. Welcome - some very knowledge folks here on USMB (I'm not one - just a driver). However I have an 86 Hatch which I love.
  2. Welcome. Lots of great info here on all Subies and most folks are helpful. We currently have an 83 wagon and an 86 Hatch - both EA81's as we refer the simplier engine. However Ken is planning on doing an EJ22 swap into his wagon probably in the next year. He has the engine and adapter plate just needs a few more items and the time.
  3. I thought the guy said it was high/low 4WD but might have been mistaken. But if you had seen a pic of it I'm sure just about anybody on the board would have jumped on it for $500. A guy named Tom from Portland bought it according to the seller.
  4. Someone from Portland bought the nicest Brat I've ever seen (except at WCSS11) in The Dalles today. Believe purchase price was $500. Only 82k original miles on it. Alas we were the next people in line. Guy was supposed to pick it up yesterday but delayed till today as had broken pipes at his house. Seller just called us to let us know it was gone. Damn! Anyway what a steal - had a blow head gasket. Turbo automatic high and low 4WD. So question - did a board member in Portland pick this up? I'm thinking Pooparu?
  5. Welcome to the board. You will love the group. They are so helpful. Cresswell is by Eugene or Albany OR right? We're in the Portland area and have a 86 Hatch and a 83 Wagon. Went to the WCSS in Stevenson WA in August and had a blast. Keep an eye out - should be in July next year and will be somewhere here in the NW.

  7. Not mine but thought maybe we could give the guy a hand finding it. I'm editing his original craigslist ad as there was profanity and a bit of volence in it (I'm sure well deserved) but I've included the link if you want to read it all. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/1461666818.html 1996 subaru outback blue and grey two tone, tinted windows, dent in drivers side front fender plate # 369 EFF. Stolen from 54 and Gladstone at 10 last night. If you see it or the person who took it call Brandon at 971 227 9583. I'll hook you up.
  8. Anyone in the greater Portland OR area should check out the Rebuilding Center on N. Mississippi. They have great prices on used cabinets and all kinds of interesting things there. Open 7 days a week. Habitat for Humanity Re-store is another place to check.
  9. wanted: custom subaru work - $1 (st johns, NW OR)

  10. Hey Jerry:

Lynn & Ken (from Portland) here. Hope you and Pam are doing fine. We sure enjoyed visiting with you both at WCSS11.

There was a brief discussion of building a trailer to be towed behind a Subie. Ken asked me to find out from DOT (fed) and then OR and WA what the minimum size and weight can be to be legal. Just thought I would check with you to see if you have that info before I reinvent the wheel.

Ken (floortom) will probably be dropping you a PM one of these days. He successfully got the EJ22 engine and driveline etc. out of the 90 Legacy. So he will be asking you for any pointers on what he needs to do to get that in his 83 Wagon.

    Tell Pam hi for us!

  11. Ok - now that I said thanks for the last help - got another one. My ignitiion has never been problem free - you put the key in about 3/4 of the way and kind of jiggle it to get it to start. But a couple days ago it has really gotten bad - wouldn't even turn. Put WD-40 in there and that did help some. However, I have days that it takes me a couple minutes playing with the key in the ignition before I get it to start. And sometimes - when you actually get all the way in the start position it doesn't even make a noise - like no spark. And so I keep playing with it and eventually it starts. Probably a real good anti-theft device as floortom (Ken) can't even get the car started with the key. But advice please - should we get a new ignition from a Subaru dealer(?) or what? Thanks in advance. Lynn
  12. Oh Oh - 2 thank yous for GD in one day. Seriously I wanted to say thank you to hatchsub and General Disorder who responded to my plea on where to buy a radiator as car was still overheating after head gasket replacement. Car was back on rode with the new radiator (2 yrs old) out of my hatch however eventually I will want to replace the one I now have. Fortunately floortom (Ken) is experienced at head gasket replacement. So, I called Discount Import Parts as GD suggested and got a quote from Shane for $119 for the radiator - which is certainly more in line with what I want to pay. Ken's car was still running crappy and he had searched high and low for a vacuum hose that might be off but could not find it. However, last night he did indeed find it and now he says it is running great. So thanks again for the help - appreciate it! Just don't let your head get too big GD. And by the way we didn't entirely ignore your advice on the clutch for my 86 hatch back in June or July (or whenever it was) it was just that the clutch plate coming out was 8 7/8 not the 7" whatever and we couldn't find parts to match between the spline and the plate something was wrong on every new clutch we bought. Ken finally used a gently used clutch out of another car. So thanks again - USMB is a wonderful resource. Lynn
  13. Welcome to USMB. Lots of good advice, parts and very nice people. Watch for next summer WCSS12 probably in July I think. We went to the show in Stevenson this year (our first time) and had a blast. We have a 83 EA-81 Wagon and an 86 EA-81 Hatch. Lynn in Portland
  14. Think I'll be there in the wee hours of Friday morning to beat Baccaruda! Seriously beats the heck out of my 86 Hatch which runs good but doesn't look near as nice.
  15. Thanks everyone for the help! Appreciate it. floortom (Ken) did the head gaskets and believe me he's done them before and they are not suspect. Positive it is indeed the radiator - just wanted to see if I could find one for less than $225-$280. Lynn
  16. Head gaskets replaced - radiator obviously needs to be replaced as car was overheating and water bubbling out of radiator yesterday afternoon. I called Mac's Radiators and they want anywhere from $228-$282 for a new one. I swear I paid Macs $125 for a new radiator for my 86 Hatch. Does anyone know a parts place in Portland metro area that sells radiators cheaper than $225? Thanks!
  17. Our first time at the WCSS but will definately be back. Thx to all of you who worked so hard on the show - I'm sure everyone greatly appreciated it. Thx to sponsors too - without them it wouldn't happen. And of course Thx to Subaru! We'll keep a look out for the sign around PDX.
  18. Ed Quickwork on pics. Floortom (Ken) and my (Lynn) first WCSS. Had a blast and will definately be there in the future!
  19. Anyone up for fishing? floortom and I are bringing poles - steelhead are running! Lynn:grin:
  20. Sounded like no food service on site. If you're coming up 84 west bound get off in Hood River. Think it is the last or second to last Hood River exit - turn left -go up the hill and I believe another left. There is a Wal Mart on the left and a Safeway on the right. You should be able to pick up whatever supplies and food you need there.

We plan on loading down our 83 wagon with enough food for 3 days along with drinks just like a regular camping trip. Hope you have a great drive and perhaps we'll see you there. Lynn and Ken will be in 83 silver wagon with Oregon plates NOPO2. Lynn

  21. Hey Jerry from Selah WA Are you the guy that drove your wife's Baja down to Portland a few years back to bring parts to floortom (Ken). If so, I know Ken would really enjoy seeing you again. We plan to leave Portland before noon Friday driving 83 Subi wagon OR plates NOPO2.
  22. We're coming for the first time. Sounds like fun. Mailed the registration fee as don't do paypal. Couple questions: what time does gate open on Friday? Can I bring a well behaved Samoyed (on a leash)? Do we pay for camping at the gate? Also, some good trout fishing around that area - maybe salmon/steelhead too. Will check to see what's legal if anyone is interested. At this point plan on leaving Portland by noon Friday (earlier if I can get day off). Silver 83 wagon OR plate NOPO2. Can't wait!
  23. Dan - this is Lynn, Ken's girlfriend - were you the one who was coming down today to get the Brat? If so, what's up?
