  1. i've seen some one who's put the 2nd gen roof on the 1st gen brat looked prity cool dont know how much more work that would be because the wind shields are different shapes
  2. looks good i can agree with what u have done because this one looks like a good solid one:clap:, but i would get a dual range 4 speed and put it in. but my 85 has a reconstructed title(totaled) but cant really tell its been rear ended very easily only damage was bumper and a little behind that. so im going to put ej, ee diesel, or put on a frame(chevy luv, bronco 2, or toyota) on it:headbang:but thats when im older and more money:(
  3. or u could find another brat thats parting out/junk yard and cut the roof off, when u do that cut part of the wind shield post off.
  4. ok it said to turn on lighting switch and passing lamp switch, then see if headlamp or parking light when lighting switch is turned to 2nd stage, if not 25 A fuse is blown, if yes see if indicator lamp of passing light swich lights, see if 15 a fuse is blown, see if voltage exceeds 10v in G lead of of 3-p connector, see if voltage exceeds 10v in GR lead of 6-p of relay, see if voltage exceeds 10v in GR lead on harness side 6-p connector of passing lamp, if yes motor is defective. sorry if thats complicated thats how its wrote in the book but it would help if this had arrows:lol: i can take a picture of diagram if needed:cool:
  5. i've got the factory subaru repair manual that is for the 1600/1800:headbang: and it talks about the 3 eye ill try to read up on it and get back to u
  6. hopefully got another brat on the way:headbang: a guy called my dad and asked if we wanted another one of course he said yes:Dand we think its a 2nd gen so i might get tail lights:headbang:, trim pieces i need:D, and hopefully tailgate:headbang:not sure how good its going to be the guy said its been sitting in his barn in gaston oregon 9 years since it flooded in tilomook oregon and flooded the truck:( hopefully it will be not that rusty:-\or no rust:) so i can get the parts i need and get running and resell or use as parts car. but all this depends on what gen, shape, and price of this brat:popcorn:
  7. u wouldn't believe how many ea82's there are in oregon, my dad has owned 6 of the gl/dl/loyale wagons. but the ea81 and ea71 are a lot harder to find parts for i need to get another glove box door from the u pull it in boring oregon just need to find the right color:)
  8. wish i had a brat with a 302 on a bronco 2 frame i saw a 280z done like that though:cool:
  9. your going to hate me when i say this but i got the same one for $5 at the junk yard 2 weeks ago and i have the factory service manual, owners manual, and 5 other repair manuals for my brat, but keep up the good work love the rack:headbang:
  10. some of these have cars have real low miles on hear i've seen a gl wagon ea82 with 650,000 on it at a junk yard:headbang: my brat has 198,000 on body and 30-40 thousand on crate motor and trany:D
  11. sweet u got one of the turbos did u know they only made 300-400 of them but maybe 500:slobber:
  12. this is the place to post pictures of your brat doesn't matter what year or condition there all awesome hears my 1985:headbang: my dads 79 but should be mine im the only one who works on it:lol: my dads 78 my dads other 78 a guys 84 brat in the dalles he welded on a double hitch and he hauls 2 tons of would with it one ton in the bed and the other on a trailer:eek: and he put wrinkles in the bed plus he has the rear seats in it and does that:( a guys 82 that has the cyclopes head light! a old retired zoo keepers brat at the coast (sat for 5 years)before him a weather man owned it. my dad and i helped him dismantle it some got windshield for $5, tail lights $20 for both look brand new, free dash cover, and $5 tow hitch:D so rusted out the out side rusted out and the thing was ready to fall apart i got to rip of the doors by opening them:D this is a amazingly clean 1st gen brat that has sat since 98 in town near newburge oregon but this old lady didn't want to part with it same as 3 other trucks that are collector items since hr husband died.
  13. was dissapointed to find find some go through rust on tail gate another spot on the tail gate had a weird bondo patch put the tan glove box back in and put 8 pop rivets in someone drill 8 holes in it? spray painted the metal part black owners manual factory tool kit dash is almost completely crack free only one which only can be seen when passenger door is opened. my part collection:headbang: its been hard to find parts for this thing so trying to keep as many as i can that i might need.(i know i need to clean the seat covers it seems like cat hair follows me everywhere.)
  14. yah that would of been cool been watching your thread looks great, i saw a 78 brat on craigslist that someone did like that:cool:
  15. nice i want to see some pictures, i got a 1985:headbang: but its titled as a 1986 so basically same thing as what u got and i have a roll bar on it:cool: and planning on brush guard have three ive bought for it just have to fab one to fit good:D and i put on a kick rump roast rear bumper that has a hitch and 4 ding rings:headbang: and also u can put in a roll bar out of the 1st gen in yours like i did but u need to cut and weld a little for it to fit right:grin:
  16. i got my 1985 brat for $900 in hillsboro oregon, the guy i got it from was a total dumb rump roast he blew the motor and tranny both in under a week:banghead:. but i got her with a crate motor and tranny with only 30-40 thousand miles on them but it needed a new clutch real bad the car wouldn't move but it came with a new one. it needed a door, tail light, windshield branch went through:-\, carpet, fenders, and lots of lots of other parts to make it look good.
  17. saw a 1986 brat sell on ebay for over $15,000 on a bid:-\ with only 27k on it and they kept it in this bubble thing at a air port and they only drove it to change oil and get gas only when the sun was out:-\
  18. very nice detailed work thats going to be a one of a kind at wcss next year but thats a long drive for u, my dad doesn't want to drive 6-10 hour car rides to go to either subaru meets this year:( but where going next year when there in orgon:headbang:
  19. awhile back i put in seats out of a mazda coupe(from the wrencked brat), carpet, and console from a ea81 wagon which is way better than the stock one. still working on interior like radio a idiot cut the wires and taped them together then cut them again:banghead: peugeot 14inch rims on 195/75/14's:D what do you guys think? i changed the glove box back to tan.
  20. 86 brat we got for $350 but some idiot rear ended when it was parked going 60mph:banghead: the guy we bought it from delivered it for $50. Disappointed in seeing it in that shape since the last time i saw it was mint condition and he paid $5000 for it(Sad to say the the guy i bought it from has died from major heart and health problems. i really wanted to show him mine because he like subaru's a lot too). Amazingly my dad drove this crippled brat in are green house in 4wheel driver low with the left rear and right front wheel wells rubbing on the tires prity hard:lol: this is about the best pic the whole truck (it took a hour to open the tail gate with a 8ft crow bar) if u guys didn't know this yet your missing out a ax cuts through 18ga metal like butter:grin: got it ready to go to scrap in picture this is a year old picture.
  21. im going next year when there in oregon so i don't have to do 6-10 hour car rides but that will be my first meet:cool: but my dad and i have 4 brats and a wagon so its like a meet at my house:headbang:
  22. thats weird how u couldn't find windshield wipers for that because i can find them at every auto parts store in oregon for my 1985 brat:cool:
  23. i think it would be worth it because the doors on that are rare and i usually see them from 150-250 which is over priced for a door(they fit on brats and the hatches like yours but glass is different for the brats.) and the motor and tranny if there in good condition should be worth 250 easy but u need to find the right person to by it. i also fill your pain was watching a mint 1986 brat in columbia gorge in washington thinking of getting it and next time i saw it, it looked like this:banghead: tore it apart and used it for parts on my 1985
  24. u selling any parts off that brat i need the left tail light for my 1985:grin: i've been looking for one for awhile.
  25. i could of sold u a full set of mud flaps for the brat when we swapped canopies last weekend. since then i have recolked the gasket back on and got a handle from ace so i have a key but had to customize it to fit, check out my thread at http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=133905&highlight=subaru+brat
