  1. isn't the caliper attached to the backing plate? i just typed for ten minutes and then had to rethink what i said......now i am confused.i also have a bad clunking going on down there and need to do bearings i think.let me know what you find if i don't tell you first:)
  2. i like that idea, how did you light it up mick, and what are the other wires for?
  3. if you are feeling a little restricted you can get an ea-82 y-pipe and it will bolt right up to your engine.i did that then found a good exhaust from the yard and stole the flange from another system for the tailpipe side and voila'.more flow.granted the y-pipe is not much bigger, but there is a difference in flow.
  4. well, you have my number.keep me informed please.oh, and i have some nice non frozen floor just in case you get out late. i live right off of the freeway so it is easy access to my place.thanks, brian
  5. hey northwet, i have some parts for paul in spokane.my number is 509-991-8048.i figure it will be on your way.if not maybe i can swing down to your route.thanks, brian
  6. how long have you driven the car?do you feel comfortable with it?are you confident in your cornering abilities?these are all questons i ask myself wheni feel like pushing the envelope. the proverbial line if you will.your father only has so much to say to you anyway.i am sure he only wants the best for you.however sometimes it may be a little conservative for you.i am a father and i ,of course give the conservative view as often as i can.but, i know that one day she will go where she needs to go.as far as she feels comfortable i hope and no further.go with your heart.it cannot serve you wrong.your father will get over it.just do not put it into his face.be humble.live your life, but do not forget that he is your patriarchj.it does not mean that he is right.it just means that you owe him respect fo rhis opinoins although you may not follow them...cheers, sorry so long winded.
  7. keep it at the top, the ol'lady and i were in moab in august.(in a minivan)eeeccchhhh!but we loved it and would love to go back.i even told her we would have to go down in the brat so we could get farther into it.SHE SAID OK ,so it would be really rad to do it with others.......keep it goin and we all can go...
  8. contact the guys at jbcc offroad.it is in azle ,texas.right around your area if i am not mistaken.he may be able to point you in the direction of a good fabricator for offroad goodies.keep in mind that anyone you talk to is going to think you are totally insane for wanting to do something like that to a forrester , but be persistent.someone will share your vision.http://store.jbccoffroad.com/index.html
  9. all i have to say is that my last lifted rig was an 89 ford ranger with a ford 302 in it.it hauled rump roast and was about 6 or 7 inches taller than my brat.i rallied the piss out of that thing and never rolled it.but i also never tried to:brow:
  10. now that makes sense.......i lost a wheel and it dumped on to the balljoint at about 40mph.......if a pot hole could do that, then i 'm thinking i'll check that guy first.thanks raven
  11. you can pick up a weber at redlineweber.com.or go to your local jy and find one on numerous cars.do a search on weber and start looking through it.
  12. it's just weird.it seems to be in good working order, just clicking like mad.....no grease is escaping.i don't know....
  13. i think i am having the same problem that one cat had not to long ago...let's see,i can drive her.she clicks going straight and in turns.the boot looked funky, but seems to be normal at times.seems to be coming from left front(incidentally the same side i dumped her on when i lost my wheel)did the rebuilder just not put that clip back and got hyperextended.good boots, almost new.safest bet a rebuild?both inner and outer?would love to go to cvaxles .com but funds are tight.how do i know what is going on?thanks brian
  14. oh yeah, and if you like the rims and they fit your style , tire preferance, just get a big ****ing hammer and pound away.....
  15. as my old man always said.keep it simple stupid.glad you got it goin.i would suggest some dielectric grease to keep your terminals free of corrosion.
  16. i guess i was going slow enough for it to just weld itself to itself......nut to bolt.i was going about 40mph when it happened.guess i was just lucky.
  17. not trying to be a wise rump roast, but did you check all the connections?sometimes if there is enough juice , it is not enough juice.in other words, if there is juice to get it to extend , maybe there is not enough juice to spin it.your battery terminals may be dirty, there may be a short in the wire, or your ground could be lose.gotta go through the whole thing without panic, don't try to fix it.just try to find out what is wrong with it.then you will be able to fix it.don't panic.
  18. i was having a surging once.if your coil doesn't seem to solve your problem , check you wires to your alternator.i hada loose ground wire once.it seemed to charge ok, but when i was driving it , it would buck like the first time a bull gets his b a l l s tied up.
  19. yeah, the really burly industrial kind that can hold thousands of pounds.go ahead, come off now wheel, i dare ya:burnout:
  20. i never like to forget the small bottle of whiskey it can keep you warm, happy and content for hours if you can't get out. it will keep you sane when you realize what a ******* you are for trying to go where you should not have. and last but not least,it's just good.
  21. i recently had an incident with my drivers front wheel coming off and that nut and balljoint stud was pretty nuch my saving grace.i think i am gonna put ski's on mine...
  22. i picked up the alternator, and wiring, got a weber.need to rebuild the weber, get an air filter for it, and the adapter plates .then it will be on.i was surprised to see the similarity of these two alts.i actually got mine from the yard for 8 bucks.it is a newer reconditioned unit.
