can people use their own heads anymore , or are we simply regurgatators?

take a bolt out, measure it, then add an inch or two for thickness of metal.answer your own question.
  3. search Godzirra...that one is close enough to you, it might behoove you to try and visit the guy.. and i have some pics i can load up later from when i was designing a setup using EJ items...... I am a beginner as well, just come across alot of folks that seem to have big dreams without any knowledge of how much it will take to achieve them. nice 'busa.... the 1.25 120 wall is a bit small for cage work by basic standards.way more triangulation would be needed i think.which adds more weight , etc, you know the drill......if it was DOM it would be strong enough though..i have been using 1.5 120 wall DOM for my stuff.....alot of pro competition buggies use 1.5 120 wall DOM nowadays.... cheers
  4. so, just out of curiousity , what other fab type projects have you done?cheers, b
  5. not really crazy.been thought about , done with, and built with different components before , and currently being worked on as well....... but, there is not a class for it in the 1000. and, if you can't afford to do it right, it can turn into a nightmare really fast.just sayin.cheers, b
  6. a guy would end up doing more work trying to cut the frame down, being as it is not boxed in, than to just build a frame. steering can be made easy by going hydro...... once again, i don't think most people think this through.i know i have started this project like 3 times now.each time getting further. until finally deciding that going from the ground up around a size model would be easier.........and what i truly wanted. to keep the height down you almost HAVE to cut too much sheet metal for my taste, weell, for any desirable size tire that is..... anyways, cheers
  7. it can work width wise, and you'll be putting the axles where you want anyway...so really length doesn't matter.the natural wheelbases are super close anyway.....
  8. ding ding ding!we have a winner!in the car nothin better than seafoam.
  9. it is well known that the dana 30 and 35 axles are weak sauce. those jeeps you see everyday do not get used. and if they are getting "wheeled", that does not mean real wheeling. if you are going to take this step i suggest you start researching more if you don't "know " much about toy stuff. it is everywhere, aftermarket is abound.you need to research more. toyota axles with longfield axles and hubs, properrly trussed ,run 39.5 tires successfully...... you need a subframe .putting your car onto another frame is meaningless.any redneck can do that.build your own frame, and amazingly enough the stock spring width of toy axles is well within acceptable ranges of being hung properly i had a toyota frame up under a brat once...here is an album http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h56/monstaru/death%20buggy%20build/ cheers
  10. pure and simple.you will get tons of interest till you put out a price tag.even now numbers of people that are willing to spend good money on the skill level you put out are slim..... the cost to labor ratio is way to high for the subie crowd. no one wants to spend the money it takes to have a good looking and functional product. there have been several folks put out great stuff, with fairly good prices really.....just not what most of these folks would pay. thats why i just spent the money i would have spent on a bumper on a jd2 tubing bender......because i could make anything i wanted after that.....hydraulic coinversion made it easier yet.....swivel top bracketry for tight spaces....easier yet.... anyways ,i am curious to see how this works out, again............ cheers not jeers, b
  11. this is not up for discussion anymore.it was an old thread brought back from the dead..... FYI "Offroo'd" is trademarked..............;)by me.cheers, b
  12. no offense taken.......it was a joke man.relax.if i wanted to crawl up your rump roast i would meet you in person and do it.:headbang:bill is doing some things i have dreamed about for years.i am mad excited about it, and have a hard time focusing on it when other ideas are introduced to the mix.......the reality will not set in until i have one sitting in my lap, getting gently caressed, like a smooth , supple............ cold piece of metal...........get your mind out of the gutter! like i said before, there have been a bunch of things started and not finished.so i am trying to put as much good energy towards this as possible...... cheers
  13. he has already replaced the ignition. it seems that the shop told him there is a tie somewhere between the computer and the ignition...like a cut off that is not cutting off. cheers, b
  14. the most important thing, is that the people that kow what that means......are laughing their asses off right now.........;)cheers

  22. just off the top of my head...... empi, mwe, and axles of ocalla?maybe.......empi are the strongest right now i think. but i do not think he is to blame , there are several axles remanned improperly.especially by almost every single one of your parts stores you have to choose from.if it were me...i would go empi.i have had a ton of remans from different manufacturers.and a bunnch of junkyard axles.go to the junkyard, or buy some boot kits for about 12$ each end.buy a book.the money you spent at that mechinic could have been negated buy learning yourself.cheers, b
  23. i have had the ************ in my garage a couple of times now.currently no.BUT, am working furiously to make this happen.please don't fizzle out , please.:-pcheers, b
