Steering wandering after suspension work
ferp420 replied to stratman977's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would check your radius rod bushings and make sure there tight maybe add a washer or two to tighten them up even more -
If you just lift the rear you will change the stearing geomitry it will be slightly looser and won't return to center as well and you will change the balance of the rig the center of gravity will move slightly forward alowing the rear end to break loose easyer would be a lot of fun at slower speeds but high speeds it might get squirly I did it to my ferd ranger along time ago but I lifted the rear about 6" but all this sounds like it might work for you oh and it dident seem tippy with the back end up high because it was lighter try it you might like it also you can move the front struts forward alittle to fix the steering and your just left with a light rear end and you could run some extra wait in the bed for everyday use and or in bad weather and then take the wait out and its playtime

How Does Subaru 4X4 Work?

I scored a lsd off a turbo gl-10 in the junk yard for cheap ebay has them but there not cheap haven't used it yet though -
thanks guys i think its gona be a fun build it is gona have a back hatch but it will be out of tubing mostly to hold the spare tire unfortunitly i have to put it back in storage till i finish my scout build im at the end just need to wire it and install the cooler lines the radiator hook up all the gauges and since its gona be my tow rig i dont need to put the cart before the horse and besides i need some dom tube for the cage seeing as how i plan to have this rig upside down more than once and a pile of cheap tube for the rest of the rig im ether goma buy a new welder or fix the broken mig welder at the shop or fix the big lincon 220 arc with the hopes of geting beter welds the mig is converted to a low amp 110 arc welder thats very picky as to what brand and type rod used it works but thats about it i cant wait to cut more off and start laying tube and prep the axles un fortunitly i only have dana 30s for the front but i have 3 of them and with the light wait and low powerd suby they should hold up fine considering i wheeled hard with a d30 on the scout with over 400hp and only changed ujoints after every wheelin trip and im planing on running 33s and maybe 35s but only time will tell and i have a bunch of 33s but i would like to run the same tire size on the scout so if need be i could swap tires around and im planing on running 35s on the scout so ill see what money is like once there both up and running

i know what he is saying but this isent the right thread to talk isht if you want to talk isht direct it to my buildish thread please most of the isht has allready been addressed http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/142612-insperation-moves-me-brightly/ besides pulling twice the little subys wait at a run and yes it did break but even after the break it was still pulling on the heep and dident pull off the rig so even if it did have a trailer on it even if that trailer was twice the waight of the car it still wouldent have let loose and if all the bolts where put in it wouldent have broke or bent and the although the welds did suck the metel failed around the outside edges of the welds the metel is very thin and the car isent rated to tow here in the us the brakes arent up to stoping anything more than the car itself so basicly the isent capable of towing anything heavy enuff to break the hitch but thanks for your consern please stay on topic this is saposed to be a picture thread not wong fest thanks oh and yes it was reinforced with 1/4 plate now but still dosent have any bolts in the bracing and seems to be working just fine no it still cant tow hardly anything but moving trailers around the yard and shop any faster than say 5mph and its not safe to tow with unless its like trash cans maybe a dirtbike or something small and light
