Air Compressors
Off Topic forum is in testing right now and the donors are doing the testing. I am going to lock this thread and copy it to the OT forum. If you wish to help test join the donor group. I own that same compressor. I never end up using the 3/8 ratchet it comes with, and the hose I ended up replacing with a lot longer one and a Rapid Reel that I bought at Menards. A high quality RUBBER hose is worth much more than those plastic ones. Plastic is good for contractors that work outside alot but rubber is better in a garage (opinion only). The compressor keeps up with me for changing tires and grinding, sanding or using my cutoff tools.

Yet another 5 speed d/r swap Q.
At the transmission end of the axle is the geared stub that you slide the DOJ end onto. This is the part that you punch the pin in. That particular part has a variation of 25 spline or 23 spline for turbo/non when it comes to ea82 axles. DONT ASK ME WHY I DONT GET IT. Subaru was so wise with interchangability of its parts other than this. I highly recommend getting the 5spd kit from Jerry (Bratsrus1). You will have to decide between FT4wd and part time before ordering the kit though as the trans mount block is different.

I am asking because I want to know how much taller yours go than one in a Brat.

Yet another 5 speed d/r swap Q.
You can use either flywheel the debate is whether or not it is hard on the internal bearings and crankshaft. The crank has the same pilot bearing size surface but the ea81 uses smaller bolts and the holes in the crank are thus smaller too. If you use the ea82 flywheel you still have to use the ea81 bolts or you have to tap and thread out the holes to accept the bigger ea82 flywheel bolts. I dont see any point in debating this, as most of the people that would say the ea82 flywheel is fine to use have no proof that it lasts a significant amount of time or miles last time I checked. At the same time there haven't been any reports of problem either. I was slightly tempted to try making some custom bolts from ea82 bolts just sizing them down at the point that they go into the crank....not easy though. I personally went with the ea81 flywheel. (and ea82 clutch disc, ea81 pressure plate, ea82 throwout bearing and the pilot is the same either way) Your assumption is right on the 3.70 except for one thing. If you do get the 3.70 trans that means you are going to have to use turbo spline axles and get them custom made. If you go with a 3.90 trans you can use ea81 axles like you already have. www.cvaxles.com charges 110 per axle as you have no core. They made them in about 3 weeks.

ShawnW replied to wahoo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo the car is off when you plug the reader in and then you turn the key to on and it does this? Or are you plugging the reader in after you have turned the key to on?

82 gl performance boost
Jerry makes a kit that works with the FT4wd 5spd trans. I have one and he is running one too. The shifters for the standard 5 spd kit are the same and the trans mounts are almost the same just slightly different on one side. Be warned that if you do this trans the splines on the outer stubs for the front axles are not available and you have to order custom axles from an axle reman company like I did from www.cvaxles.com.

Attn: XT-6 enthusiasts...
I recall somebody saying there a lapse in model year in the XT6's. If memory serves they were saying there are hardly any 90's out there but the 91's are around. In 1992 the car was no longer made and replaced with the SVX.

Problems with tranny swap! Help (4sp D/R to 5sp D/R)
Next time you have a lot of trouble try this trick that I think Ralph suggested on here a while back. Loosely install the pressure plate to the flywheel and then stab the engine. Then all you do is torque the bolts that hold the pressure plate down thru the starter hole. Not truly easy but makes a 1 man job a little easier. This last clutch stab I did I had a lot of trouble until I got the right parts and then when I had the right ones it went on the 1st try.

AIS and reed valves, Q's an need A's Please
Pull the rubber hose off at the end of the air cleaner and at the end of the ASV and just run without the hose until you can get a hold of one. I can send you some used ASV's if you have an ea81. Personally the $12 is worth it IMO.
