O2 sensor install help on my 90 Loyale
Use a 6 point 22MM wrench or a true oxygen sensor socket. Look for a high quality socket as the cheap ones expand and the solid ones hold their grip.

water temp sensor question
Are you running an 02 Sensor? Sorry for the strange question but I always thought that running without it would give you very similar problems. It runs without feedback from 02 sensor on most cars for about 2 min and then the sensor leans/enrichens the mixture based on the temp and 02 sensors.

Pop + Black Smoke = More Power????
Maybe its the air suction valve. Maybe it blew up the silencer. Check the hoses between the exhaust end of the cyl head and the air cleaner.

I cry when I see one of those in the JY. Such great little beasts. They have their quirks but they are so unique. I can't wait to get my 83 TW running.

help identifying this part/legacy
ShawnW replied to adwolf1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt also seems like it would be better suited to keeping moisture out of the engine with all the bends it makes compared to the cold air intake setups I have seen. But nobody here drives their Subaru thru deep puddles, streams, etc.

Midwest 2 Voting open to Attendees only.
IM going to vote too. 1. Mick's Brat-limps home with fuel, trans, clutch and axle issues after being so strong on the mud road, trying to help people and efforts after the disaster trying to help everyone. Oh and taking care of Sube overnight too! 2. Kurt's Brat--My dad really liked this one and the rear seat he installed was so cool. 3. Vickaroo-first person to make it out alive and make it thru both miles of the road.

Midwest 2 Voting open to Attendees only.
Sorry Mick. Fixed that. I got a lot of respect for that beast after this weekend. Hobbling home with the LR tire hopping from a bad axle and running with 2 broken fronts and only moving cuz of an LSD. Amazing.

Midwest 2 Awards Voting
Moot point now but I will have the awards again. At this point I only know the 2/5 award winners and unfortunately its me that won one of them. Highest Mileage Subaru in attendance-My Brat With 196,650+. New Gen Subaru Award-Matt Welk, 01 Legacy GT. Only new gen car in attendance but a really nice one and he "survived" Gumbo road. Only 6 ballots were received before the tour drive so I am going to place a poll for each category on the forums here for the remaining 3 awards.

"A little mud" didnt keep me from driving it home. I toasted the clutch pretty bad and my brat was drug thru the mud like a Farmers plow on Saturday night when I wasn't there. It went a lot deeper than most did and I just wanted to play it safe. My Brat has 196k miles on it and I want to keep the original engine going to 300k. That would be something to be proud of for Jerry and I. I am pretty sure that Ruzilla is a similar story his clutch smelled awful and he tried to pull that van out which really didn't help his.

I just was on the phone with Kurt he is in St Louis on the way to work. He got home at 2am. The only person that has not been confirmed as at home and safe now is Matt with the Legacy GT. I will try to reach him as soon as I have his number again (Joy has it).

My brat is now at my folks shop, they trailered it for me. Decided not to risk driving it packed full of goo. They were going to take a picture to send me of how messy it is.

I just called Brian and I got thru! ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT FOR ONE OF THE RESCUE FORD TRUCKS HAVE BEEN RECOVERED AND ARE PARKED AT THE HOUSE AT THE END OF THE MUD ROAD WE WERE ALL CONGREGATING AT! HE DIDNT HAVE MANY MINUTES TO TALK SO WE KEPT IT SHORT. Vehicle damage report: Legacy: Ground effects kit damage and tire damage. Kurt: Seems okay just VERY MUDDY. Mine: Ran and all 4 wheels would turn. More details to come.

a few Midwest Meet Pics...
I think you will be alone on that. I think this may have soured the ambition to go play on flat land ever again for most people. If you do go play in the mud have a friend or family member that owns either a Military Helicopter, hovercraft or a tank tractor and a lot of guts.
