  1. You can install the cyclops on the later Brats, so I am going to say an 83-84 Turbo Brat or Wagon...I can't decide. Thats why I have an 83 TW and an 86 Brat....someday it will be a turbo.
  2. It took me 5 parts cars to get the one I now have. I found there is a lot of variations in the turbo, non, cruise/non, etc too. The ends seem the same but the length of the cable is different on all variations.
  3. The car handled it better than its occupants did.
  4. That looks wonderful, congrats! I hate to say it but I would call it 50% done. The other 50 is stuff you want to refine after driving it for a few weeks-years. Never ending project if you ask me. Is it water/weather proof enough to store outside year round?
  5. A very small few have but not many. Probably something like 0.005%
  6. No, Ozified makes it that way and you order it that way. He only does this on ea81 cars and it is done because the Brats sit with the rear end higher than the front in a stock setup.
  7. 23 minutes is my record. Thats wheel touching the ground to wheel touching the ground and in my driveway. Never had to do one away from home.
  8. Yep, it should be there. 83 And later if I am not mistaken. Good luck with your studs.
  9. I think it would have been nice of them to put a LED light on the column switch so you would know its flipped on.
  10. Welcome to USMB. I too live in Coralville. About time somebody else showed up! 419A 5th Street. Stop by and say hi sometime. The oil quantity should be in your owners manual. The belly pan is a PITA and most do it yourselfers will remove it and not put it back on as the fasteners aren't built to be used that often. Use a dealer crush ring on the oil drain plug to prevent leaks and apply the proper torque. I only own old subaru's. Only one of mine is in town right now but you might have seen me running around in my Brat before.
  11. I see your Subaru Junkie and raise you a Syrinx....at least till he moves back. Just kidding though. I think its the rust (or lack of it that is) but also...some big name guys recruiting people to USMB. Austin, Ezap, Qman, John Bloom (Mudrat), Bratsrus1, West Coast Subaru Show/PNWSEC and many others on the west have brought MANY people to this board. The true diehards of the East/Midwest that run around putting business cards on windshields and tailgating every Brat/Wagon in town till they stop...just cant keep up. The biggest promo USMB can get is a lifted Brat/Hatch, etc running around with a USMB sticker on it. It just draws so much attention. Almost as much as a mint Brat in the midwest does. Not to mention a lifted mint brat. Im going to go thru a LOT of business cards in Colorado after I move. Theres a huge population of Subaru's there but not on USMB and I am going to find all the nuts!
  12. This snuck up on me and i have a bunch of family coming to the area now. Sorry. Being kindof "poor" right now doesnt help with matters.
  13. Does your car have seat belts?
  14. ShawnW replied to EagleOutback's topic in Off Road
rweddy: Nope. The 80's Subaru's that are lifted are 99% body lift kits and the newer model kits are engineered the same way as the old ones. Patrick at Ozified.com was working on a Legacy Lift kit. I can't wait to see more cars in the Newer Generation forum that are lifted. So many of the obsticles we deal with on our 80's models are not issues on the new gens. Wheels and tires being the #1 problem as our stock size 13" wheels don't have offroad tire options.
  15. Cool thread idea Eric. In progress is my 83 TurboTraction/RX wagon. 3" Ozified, 14" pugs with street tires, 5 Speed 88 RX Trans. 3.70 gear ratio with matching LSD, disc brakes all 4 corners, and custom front axles. Picture is old and pre-lift. Its been in the garage far too long but im getting there. I bought the car not running. I have never driven it. I lifted it, did a trans swap, diff swap, column/key swap, full brake change, axle conversion, etc.....before EVER even hearing it run. Guts?
  16. Check the catalyst. It may be plugged.
  17. Not surprised this time either. Kudos Tim.
  18. Wow. It did hold up pretty amazing for what it went thru.
  19. Your trans is a rare one being an 82. Gearing is different and the flywheel/clutch setup is different. All of the Brat "looking" cars will have a trans that fits in your 82 but if you go with one of these that isn't an 82 model year you need the flywheel. Also be sure to order a clutch kit from the model year of car you get the trans out of. You could convert to a 5 speed out of the 85 and up ea82 cars. Be warned the driveshaft has to be modified. Dont get a turbo car tranny unless you get the rear differential to match it. The turbo trans will also require you to modify or order custom front axles as well. Not really worth it or a simple project for most people. Im doing it but I had a very specific project in mind. Donor cars are any 82 4wd 4spd. 83-89 4wd hatchbacks All brats with manual transmissions All 82-84 Wagons If your 82 Brat is a DL then its single range. You could very easily convert to dual range at this time.
  20. Should be okay especially if you can keep the pollution/emissions stuff with the car and just move the blocks. I am a lot bigger fan of ea81 than ea82's. You can keep the timing belts and minor horsepower improvements as far as I am concerned. They put the higher HP engine in a heavier car. Seat of the pants feel, the ea81 wagon and ea82 wagon could keep up with each other equally.
  21. I got a deal on the Rhino liner I did on my old 87 Brat (sold it) but it cost $325. I highly recommend it and will be going that route on my current Brat.
  22. Maybe you should lift the RX. Look at the BYB site for all the cool lifted ones they have done.
  23. Yeah thats pretty nuts. Thats only 11.3 hours rest in 2 days. Hopefully he slept right before leaving.
  24. Brakes and fuel problems would be the hurdles on that, just depends on how long its been sitting and whether or not they stored it properly. (doesnt look like it).
