  1. Turbone, come on, man you posted a pic of a dirty RX! Sheesh! jk, man those look awesome. What did you end up doing with my old GL-10? Still a parts car? Hey, if anybody else wants a set of PUGS like his, drop me a PM, I posted a set for sale in the Market.
  2. Hey, anybody out there fit 6X9" size speakers in the doors of his/her Subaru Legacy or Baja? I have an '03 Baja, and I think 6.5" speakers will fit max. according to Crutchfield, but I really want a nice set of 6X9s to fit. If so, did you have to have a fit kit or did you do some kind of custom install? Thanks
  3. Car is 2003 N/A Subaru Baja, 5 spd manual tranny. I want to service the transmission myself to save $....of course all I would do is drain and fill. Is it worth my $$ to pay my local subaru pros to service my transmission? Will they do anything different, like flush it or ?? Vehicle has about 88K, I'm third owner at least, no idea if transmission has been serviced before, it shifts, operates perfectly, i.e. no bad symptoms, etc. Thanks for any input!
  4. Very cool and interesting article, thanks for the link! Intriguing how they're opting to invest in the diesel-powered vehicles, and bring them to the market before the hybrid cars. Wonder it it'll be a horiz.-opposed engine like the rest of them we love!
  5. So haven't rebuilt that carb why? You even said, you rebuilt the last one and it worked great. Sounds like you're on to something.
  6. Yup, the axle was junk, just thought I would close out this thread. In fact the outside joint was jammed to one side and a hammer wouldn't budge it!
  7. Nice work, man! I've never seen that style pug on a Sube before, Lookin' awesome.
  8. Thanks for the replies, guys. Apologize for the lack of clarity -- tougher to write when it's late, and you're pi$$ed off and frantic. HTI -- you said "I think he pulled the shaft out of the DOJ (cup looking thing at the end of the shaft) on the tranny." I pulled it out on the hub side. Turbone and Naru, I think you're on to something. Snap ring has come off perhaps. Ok, to clarify (or muddy the waters more, sorry), the tranny side joint is fine; the shaft has come out of the outside joint. I can grab the shaft in between and move it all around the outer boot, just can't get it in the joint. So now I have to decide whether to buy another axle if this thing is toast, or fix what I've got. So sounds this is fixable, correct? Assuming it is, I need to pull the large end of the outside boot back and try to replace the ring. Sound right? Do you recommend I take the axle out of the car to do this, or leave in place and try and roll back the boot, or ? Thanks again. Won't be around a computer till 5 pm PST , at which time I'll dive into this rat's nest again. :| thanks all
  9. Please help, the sube is on jacks at the moment and I gotta get it fixed. Car is an 86 turbo wagon, 4WD 5 spd. I was in the process of changing driver's and passenger's side ball joints and tie rod ends. All the parts were installed, but when I go to taker for a test drive there was a terrible sound from the drivers front CV axle. Not grinding, but I knew instantly that I must have torqued too hard on the hub/strut assembly during the process -- because the axle came out of the CV knuckle near the wheel. AAARRRHRHHGHG! Long story, but again it appears that the actual axle shaft coming from the tranny side has come out of the CV mechanism near the hub. You can't see it of course because it under the rubber boot, but you can actually feel how it's come dislodged, and see how the boot has an abnormal shape to it. What the @#$%? It looked strange putting it back together, but I just assumed it was a creased boot or something. (duh) DOES THIS MEAN MY CV AXLE IS WASTED? Is there any way to easily get it back together? Note: I have already removed the tire, jacked it back up, dissasembled the ball joint (but still in the control arm) and tie rod. I tried to fit it back together as it sits in the car to no avail. WHAT NOW?
  10. Ok, thanks -- I guess I'll try the local Sucks, Autozone or Napa. Thanks for the reply and tips. Blake
  11. Thanks Newsance, I will be giving this a try. Add it to the list...altho this one will creep up in priority! Where did you get the correct relay? Subaru stealer? Blake
  12. That makes THREE OF US! ""Heater fan works for the first few minutes of operation, then if you turn the car off, no fan"" Please help, are there any write-ups, stickies, or web links to help find the relay, or facilitate the job?
  13. Hey guys -- this is sweet set up. The Boeing Phantom Works division that engineers this craft is based in Irvine, CA. While I wasn't an aerospace engineer for this craft, I WAS the environmental engineer on this project. They perform test flights up in Victorville, CA at the former AFB up there. This engine is minimum single turbo, and I know they used a twin turbo version at some point! Can you imagine??!?!?! Go Boeing! Better yet, Go Subaru!!!
  14. Agreed, your wagon looks awesome! Is it a turbo? If not no biggie, still a SWEET GL10! Where did you get your front bumper? Did you paint the wheels yourself? If so/if not what paint was used? Yes please, definitely post more pics for our viewing pleasure. I'll do the same with my GL10T stabbin' wagon soon. Restore almost complete.
  15. Ahh, maaan, soooo disappointed I missed it. The GL-10 T-wagon is in for paint, and was supposed to be done last wednesday. Of course it wasn't. My truck is in for some tranny service, and we weren't about to take the fiancee's Honda. Would not have been good. Glad you guys had fun! Blake
  16. I'm really gonna try and go to this event. Never have cut down my own tree, and what better group could one hope to hang out with? Depending on who comes along (and how many trees we want to bring home), I'll bring either the t-wagon or the big Dodge. Wagon should have brand new paint by then. cheers
  17. Torxx, great feedback and description. I want an LSD rear end in my '86 t-wagon! We don't get snow like you guys do, but the mountains and ski areas are right around the corner! Ciao
  18. Nice work, I think we've all used one resource or another on this board to get some Subie work done. Good Job! I get in hindsight you had fun, too!
  19. Turbone, long time no see. Glad to hear you got some new tunes in the XT6!
  20. Bluesteel, that is freakin' awesome! Wear a jimmy!
  21. Kostamojen -- that is one of the flippin' most killer Sube projects I have ever seen, man. I love those old Gen1 wagons. Don't get frustrated, just get it on the road! Awesome job so far!
