  1. I don't know, and I don't know what the duration of these cam lobes are, but there must be at least 120 degrees of duration where the valves aren't open. That leaves a lot of room for error as far as the belt is concerned.
  2. Sorry, but I can't believe a tooth or two off will cause the piston to come anywhere close to the valves. Me thinks you'd have to be way off for that to happen. Tiny
  3. Sounds like a linkage problem. Have you looked under the car? You may even have some kind of foreign object stuck in there. I'm not even sure how the shifter is set up on these things, as I've never had any problems.
  4. Well, as long as you aren't in the defrost position, mine's all the way to the right, then you are fine. I usually drive with the windshield and foot heat on, then turn on the A/C as needed to keep the windows from fogging up.
  5. Some of us sleep, eat, drink or are busy getting "treats" sometimes. I've never done the job but I would think the only special tool would be a tie rod separation tool.
  6. Holy crap!! I had a LeMans with that OHC 250 and had to do a vale job! That son of a gun was a runner tho, with the 2 speed powerg(s)lide tranny.
  7. Are you sure it's not the A/C system kickin the fan on? If you have the heater in defrost, the A/C is operational.
  8. Cool, I guess it's been a damn long while since I looked at the fuse box and fuses. Matter of fact, I've never changed one on this car.
  9. On my '96, there is nothing to strip. The shaft and wiper arm are not keyed in any way. If the nut comes loose, the shaft just spins. Great design...
  10. Most of this stuff runs off the ACC line, but there's other stuff tied to it, like the wipers and radio. Doesn't make any sense to me. Looks like fuse #4, (20 A) runs your seat heat, acc power supply, remote mirrors, cigarette lighter, auto A/C. It supplies your A/T shift lock as well, so I'm guessing you have a standard tranny. Mirror heater runs off other power, maybe the relay is bad. I agree with cougar, get a test light and start checking for 12 volts. Pull the fuses and make sure you have the 12 volts on one tab of the fuse holder.
  11. Are you sure the nut didn't come loose on the shaft. Pop the cover off the bottom of the wiper arm and check it. I believe the wipers only use one motor.
  12. Check the fusible link, SBF6, in the engine compartment box. This feeds the window circuit breaker. Is the power window breaker popped? The power to the main switch also goes thru the power window relay.
  13. I doesn't make a difference where it's connected really, as long as it's on a beefy piece of metal on the drivetrain assembly. I helped a guy fix a starting problem on an old Fiat. He told me his clutch cable would glow red when he was trying to start his car, and it would turn over real slow. Got underneath, and found the big ground wire with both ends hooked to the chassis! Hillarious!!
  14. If it was a fuseable link, I would suspect more systems out than what you are experiencing. The wiring diagram I have doesn't show the seat power, only the switch lights, so I'm having a hard time running this down. Are you positive that every else works besides the seat heaters and mirror heaters? Do the seat lights come on and no heat?
  15. You can break the windshield if you are not careful, but I don't know of any tricks. There have been window guys posting here in the past. Are you sure if it is that high that you'll be able to see everything out the rear window? If you do get it off, they make a glue to put it back on, sold at any automotive place. Maybe you should just take it to a windshield place and let the experts do it.
  16. Just found my diagram. If you still have your instrument panel lights and all other illumination, then the relay is working. Do they come on with your parking light switch on top of the steering column? If so, the 12 volts for the lights go thru that switch in the OFF position when the normal lights switch is turned on. After going thru the switch it goes thru Fuse No 5 to the front and rear lights. Maybe your parking light switch is stuck in the middle? Cycle it a few times and see what happens.
  17. The 12 volt power wiring diagam I have shows a tail & illumination relay. I don't have the diagram for the parking lights. Maybe this relay is in the fuse panel or under the panel below the steering column. My wife has the car, or I would go out and check.
  18. My M50 2 liter six banger in my beemer has a hydraulic valve train, so did my 944. I'll trade a few horses for not having to screw with valve adjustment anyday. Of course, I'm not staging at the track, either...
  19. Sounds like evryone else loves whacking off their wheels, so to speak... I'll just stick to my loosen and drive it method. I can get beer and powdered doughnuts at the corner stop-n-rob while I'm out.
