  1. I had a GEO Prizm (Toyota Corolla drivetrain). I could always count on the engine and tranny, but the rest of the car, made in America, was a pice of crap. I was also a previous FORD owner... never again. I still love my '96 2.2, and it's doing very well in the abnormally snowy weather over here in the Rheinland Pfalz.
  2. How about a 4-finger salute for AWD? And no, not one at a time!!!!!
  3. It might be too lean for the engine to run correctly when cold. Fuel isn't atomized very well with a cold engine, so it just takes a bit more for the first few minutes, just like a carb with a choke plate.
  4. I hope you're not crawling under there with just scissor jacks! They make very good, lightweight, plastic ramps now. That's the safest way.
  5. Hell, I worked on an airplane today that wouldn't jettison its Chaff and Flare load in Bypass mode. After checking for proper voltages, we ended up disconnecting/reconnecting the same wires on a terminal board and it works now. We avionics folks refer to it as FM - Frikkin' Magic
  6. 65K on a '95? You only drive it church on Sundays? Do you change your oil regularly? Maybe you need a higher viscosity.
  7. Looking at some of the other posts here, I would look for a legacy or outback, just because of the bad MPG that is being talked about.
  8. I pulled the cross rails off my roof rack, and it helped a bit.
  9. fob: a watch or ornament worn on the end of a chain or ribbon attached to clothing an ornament attached to a key ring
  10. Do yourself a favor and pull the seat (4 bolts and electric connector(s)). A few minutes of work is worth being able to lay on the floor to get a better view.
  11. Drive downhill, that's free. Timing is taken care of by the ECU on later models.
  12. I'd put it on the A/T, but change your tranny fluid before you start hauling. I don't think you could hurt either with occasional hauling, but the clutch assembly on yours may be getting to the point that the trailer would eat it up if pulled too much.
  13. Japanese cars are well known for their workmanship and longevity, if they are built by the Japanese.
  14. You can buy a universal type here, and get the split deepwell socket too. http://www.oxygensensors.com/ It should improve your mileage tho!
  15. Find a graphics place and have them paint TURBODIESEL on the front fenders...
  16. If you use silicone, clean everything up real good with alcohol for better adhesion.
  17. Hmmm, I would venture to say that if the speedometer is moving then some parts in the A/T are working, but other parts aren't. My conclusion would be that this is not good. Maybe he can find a good tranny in a junk yard.
  18. If the belt pulleys don't make noise when you spin them by hand, then don't let them BS you.
  19. Your brakes work that good? Mine suck, the shoes are fine, and the adjustment is OK. I even exercise them now and again.Tiny
  20. I have the radio diagram for a 96. It should be the same. The wire colors are becoming more universal in different auto makes. Let me know your emial address.
  21. I don't know first hand, but some head bolts could be in part of the cooling system chambers. I know they are on different model V-8's I have worked on.
