  1. for your bed I would use something tough like Rino. One that dries to a hard surface. The rubberized spray on stuff is nice but it does rub off under stress. Loading and unloading construction material is gonna scrape that rubbetrized spray stuff right off. This will NOT fix your rust problems however. You will mearly be covering it up for the time being Good luck!
  2. I'm in pretty bad need of good ground wires. I still wouldnt buy this 'kit'. You can go get perfectly good ground wiresat lots of different stores. I'l be getting some from Fleet Farm
  3. Never seen that intercooler on a SAAB. Is that newer then 92? All the ones ive seen and have for sale off a SAAB are huge (the same size as a radiator) with big tanks on the side. These were off 900S turbo intercooled from the early 90s back. Did they slim them down in newer ones?
  4. It's leaking. Replace it While you are in the area; how about wires, plugs, cap and rotor?
  5. Bought my EJ22 with some champions in them. Worked awsome for several years! When I went to finally change them they were so old and rusted (from working for so damn long! ) I thought they were gonna break off in there before coming out! I tried several different types of plugs in my EJ22. Only the NGK coppers and the Champion coppers worked well. The others either idled well and reved up roughly or idled rough and reved up smooth. Yes I indeed checked the gap and set it if needed
  6. If I got a dolloar everytime someone posted this id be poor as dirt still but id have a lot of subarus
  7. who cares, whats the darn cooling setup!
  8. I like red interior overhead lights. YOur eyes adjust instantly to redlight at night. Flip them on and read! I used red bulbs with clear lenses on my map lights. Looks a LITTLE pink Would suggest red lenses if you can but the red bulbs do work. Don't know what sort of broadcasting laws you have but a CB (Citizen Band) radio can be fun and usefull. Find out if they are legal there and if so I bet plenty of people use them. I always carry a fire extingwisher in my rig. Great to have on hand when you need it! Also good to have if you come up on a fire. I always stop if I see smoke from a stalled vehicle cuz not a lot of ppl carry extingwishers. Also keep a stash of fuses and fusible links in your glove box or tool box. A full Subaru tool pouch is great to have on hand. Got about everything you would need for a minor repair. I usually roll around with a full set of tools though.
  9. inside the dizzy cap maybe? They can crack and let mositure in.
  10. The one I pulled from my '88 GL when I was rebuilding the engine was even worse Gotta love MN winters! Free sand blasting and salt treatment every time you drive from November till April!
  11. If you are bumping up to a 14" rim and you are offroading you can look at some real AT series tires I know most "AT" tires have some pretty wussy tread patterns but with 14" rims you really have a wider selection.
  12. or you could replace the spring in the arm that holds your wiper blade tight to the windshield. Dunno if you will find just the springs so you might need replacment arms.
  13. Anything happen that might have led to this? Been tinkering under there with timing or ignition system? Tough one to diagnose Start simple! Usually it's something silly when it 'just happens' out of the blue!
  14. I dont even have to look at the pictures to decide which looks best Never been a fan of those silly things. Typicly if the nose of your car is showing signs of wear and tear so is the rest of the body. What I find comical is the bras now that just cover 1/8th of your hood; not the front clip. Just what is that stupid thing suposed to do besides cuase more drag? Let its Subaruness shine; dont cover it up
  15. That's kind of what I was getting at.... especially since these coil overs are just height adjstable and the dampening is not adjustable. Might as well buy some Subaru adjustables (height) which were compeltly designed for Subarus and save yourself some money and trouble. By the way 'coil over' does not mean 'adjustable' it means the coil is around (over) the shock absorber. Lots of suspension systems do not use coil overs ( or struts) but rather use springs and seperate, external shocks. My '88 GL was a 2WD and had 'coil overs' that are not adustable.
  16. You have 3 options. Pug rims that bolt right on. 14" and 15" aluminum and steel. They come in both 'standard and metric' sizes. So like the metric one is not true 15" so you have to get special metric tires. Redrilling some 14" rims to your 4x140mm bolt pattern. Toyota makes a 6x140mm pattern so you can use 2 toyota holes and drill 2 new ones. Finally you can pull the studs and redrill your hubs to a different pattern. Pick your pioson
  17. Good suggstions so far, thanks! That pullpall is awsome; bet they are pretty simple to make Whats a 'block and tackle' ? I difinatly roll with my tools! That goes with out saying, i mean it IS a Subaru. I wouldnt leave my driveway with out atleast my Subaru tool pouch Tire kit; like a punch/ream and plugs? Whats that trick with ether + match to reseat your bead???
  18. A few ppl have expressed interest in going up to the Somerset Wisconsin junkyard. Its $2 to get in and pull what you want. Dude who owns it seemd cool and said he had several subarus. Lets decided on a date and time and make a day of it! Right now this is who is interested: MorganM 88xtxJoe Archemitis Reed (friend from work) Anyone else?
  19. I love the smell of catalyst and platinum dust 1" chizel helps to get you started, then work upto the crowbar hahaha
  20. Now that I'm actually offroading again I need some real recovery gear. Before all I carried was a shovel, tarp, tent and a flare With the trails I'll be going on I'll need to take recovery a little more seriouse. Winch is out of my price range bout how about a cable come-a-long ? Heard a lot of bad stories about tow straps with hooks so snatch straps with looped ends are the way to go right? What do you consider a necessity?
