  1. With enough time, effort and money; anything is possible. Want 200+ HP out of an EA series engine? Just apply more time, effort and money. Pretty soon youll just have your version of what Subaru already did... EJ series engines. Want lots of power in your Subaru? Just buy a damn EJ20TT, or an EJ25T, or an EJ22T, or one of the H6 engines. There is a reason Subaru didnt make 200+ HP out of the EA series; its not worth the time, effort or money.
  2. Between 3 and 4 all the time. Going over doesnt do me any good and anything less is lugging with big tires. I can slip the clutch and not lug it at lower RPMs but then im eating clutch so I try to just reve and drop it
  3. That sucks the engine is blown Guess the lift and tires are on hold heh. Good luck on the rebuild!
  4. I'm happy with my EA82 SPFI for all the reasons mentioned above so I wont bore you with my 2 cents
  5. Forget the engine; get yourself a lift kit and tires That's what I did to my '88 and im very happy! Is the engine fine or are you looking for a swap cuz its toast?
  6. Yeah all the options are great untill they start breaking Lots of mine have stopped working for variouse reasons.
  7. I'd rather do a motor swap if that puts any perspective on how much this would suck
  8. Grand Luxury : GL Dilaptiated Liability : DL haha GL has all the fun, keen options that make me love Subaru. DL does not.
  9. Bumping this event up to the top again since it's this SAT
  10. Howdy! Is SexyMama what you call your subaru or what people call you in your subaru?
  11. Hey glad to have you on Bob! I know how it goes with 3 year projects Thanks for the first hand info!
  12. Definatly so. This is the most sense on this topic I have read thus far
  13. 90% of it will bolt right in. What doesnt bolt in you just drill holes for and put bolts in or weld right on Remove the whole rear subframe assembly from the 4WD as one big unit. Do the same on the 2WD and then just swap them. Only holes you might have to drill back there are the outer 2 bolts on each side of the differential hanger (4 total). You'll notice 2 holes countersunk already there in the unibody where you need to drill; its a no brainer! The transmissions will directly swap also. Remeber to grab the shifter linkage bracket from the 4WD otherwise youll need to fabricate up a little bracket. You will also need the clutch and flywheel from the 4WD to bolt onto your 2WD engine. Since they are both sedans you will have the proper driveshaft. The center carier bearing can be mounted several ways. I flipped mine upside down and a friend welded it drieclty onto the unibody; works for me You could buy some L brackets, drill the holes you need (5/8" ID) and weld the brackets in; thus bolting the bearing housing to the body. I like this idea becuase if the driveshaft isnt exactly straight you can slot the holes in your bracket and slide the housing lef/right till its straight. Lastly you could drill holes all the way through the unibody and bolt the thing down with long bolts, big fender washers and lock nuts. While you are doing all this work might as well be installing a 3" lift kit at the same time! =) Good luck! ps: i dont know exactly what engines / transmissions we are dealing with here so this is just rough information I've gatherd from doing a 2WD > 4WD conversion on my '88 GL wagon. pls post more info if you need clarification in any area.
  14. Prolly just the washer/gasket like you noted. Look real close at the plug and wire coming out of the middle of the plug. If it was leaking through the plug it would be seaping out right there.
  15. Subarino you are on point; this is some great info!
  16. That would be some kick'n air intake action. I say go for it. Might be more looks then function but how can you say no to hood louvers? Put a screen under them to keep out bugs and other small debris in the air. Concerning rain you can make a little plate that covers them up from behind to seal them when its pooring rain. The plate would then go on under the screen.
  17. Just taking a large sheet of paper, setting it on the spacer, and using some charcoal to do a rubbing of it would be awsome
  18. They are not open Sundays We'll have to go on a SAT from 8AM to 3PM. Wish it had not rained so much last weekend and my deck was done! I also asked about an '82 subaru. None in the computer Sorry Sweet82
  19. So axles, knuckles, control arms, struts etc adapted to fit in?
  20. Dude forget the AC let's talk about the motor swap Do you plan on using the EJ22 main crossmember and fiting it to your unibody or modify the existing crossmember to accept the EJ22 motor mounts? Any more specific plans on that adapter? How about spline count on the EJ22 vs the 5sp DR shaft? Will the throwout fork and bearing on your 5sp DR interface with the clutch on your EJ22 flywheel well enough to properly enguage/disenguage the clutch? Thx !_!
  21. Awsome thanks for finding this stuff out. Could you ask what crossmember they used for engine and transmission. What rear diff they are using. What axles they are using or if they used DOJs from the donor and CVs from the Brat. Was the entire wire harness swaped over or just the computer and what they esentialy needed. How about clearance for radiator and fan up front. The engine stamp should be right up front dead center on top of the block. It will say EJ22 or whatever it is. Thx!
