  1. I think that's your problem. Specs. say .039-.043. if I remember correctly. I have no idea why they come factory gapped at .044. I was tripping on that when I bought them. I didn't re-gap mine because the SuperStock coil allows you to gap them up to .050. Everyone recommended the new coil (Accel #8140), since they're only $30-$40, and does a better job than the stock one.
  2. That's the one most people on the USMB use, from what I've read. I put some in my 87 last month with a SuperStock coil. No problems here. What did you gap them at?
  3. It would be a good deal around here, but only if the t-belts, pump seal, and cam seals have been done recently. At 75k they're overdue. Use it as a bargaining tool if not. It should be really clean for that price. Have you looked at online Kelley Blue Book? http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/ke.kb.bz?kbb&&688&zip_ucr;1409 Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
  4. Chef_Tim made a simple tool for doing wheel bearings. There's a picture of it in the gallery. And
  5. That green Gen1 Brat is SICK!!! Damn, I need a drink.
  6. And I just replaced mine last month. Damn, I would have been willing to try one. Maybe these could help those with the chronic clatter.
  7. What is a good upgrade muffler for the EA82? I need to replace it soon , so I figured I would see if anyone has any suggestions. I just want better flow, not noise. I'm looking for something with the right dimensions to fit with minimal tweaking. Just the muffler. Cali won't let me touch anything else.
  8. Thanks guys. Hey Hondasucks, where is the fuse on your 87 turbo?
  9. I was going to throw a new fuel filter on my spfi, and my old Haynes doesn't say much about it. The guy at the parts store said I have to release the fuel pressure. Is he correct, how do I do it?
  10. I used to work in a auto glass warehouse (Safelite), and from what I remember, you could buff them off. Problem is this will end up distorting the glass. If you do buff it, try to keep it cool, do it a little at a time. We rarely buffed on tempered glass cause it's so hard. Windshields on the other hand are so soft they distort really easily. I think Bon-ami powder is used by alot of car manufacturers to lightly buff the windows before they leave for sale. I want to get rid of my streaks too, but I figured they would just end up coming back unless I got new rollers or something. I don't know, if you try it, I'd like to hear about your results. Just my 2 cents.
  11. That's what I was hoping someone would say. Me like easy fix.
  12. What's the best way to check the tension of my belts? They have been slightly squeaking for a week or so, and now I started hearing the water circulating behind the dash alot more. Hope it isn't the water pump. I know I'm an idiot , how about some help? Anyone?
  13. Thanks alot guys. As always, the USMB saves me time and money.
  14. I hit a deer the other night, and now I need a new headlight and a side-marker assembly. I was hoping the ones from my '86 would work, but the parts list I have shows '85-'86 and '87-'88 as being different parts. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Is the difference just cosmetic or are they different sizes?
  15. Thanks for the replies! Is it best to match diameters on the front and back? Or maybe one size up in the front?
  16. What would I need to do to put a rear sway bar on a wagon that didn't come with one?
  17. You can score genuine Subaru pads at http://www.1stSubaruParts.com for around $50 or so. Pretty good deal me thinks. This place here has some SP Performance cross-drilled/slotted rotors and graphite street pads for Loyales. http://www.ricambisport.com
  18. I recently emailed http://www.1stsubaruparts.com about that part. They have one in stock for $76.11. I don't think it comes up on their website though. You have to either call or email. I scored a used one online for $20(tested). From one Jason to another, good luck.
  19. I did a search a couple of weeks ago and found this - http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3953 The part that asavage found is what I'm searching for. Can't find it though. I've recieved a couple of quotes from used parts places, but not sure I trust their parts. Knowing that the two solenoids are the same besides the connector has helped in the search though. Good luck.
  20. Thanks for all the replies guys! Well, if I can't find a good donor car around here, a new kit is only $32. I wouldn't mind the white smoke so much if I could control it. It would be a good way to get that tailgater off my rump roast.
  21. Thanks alot MorganM. If I can't find a suitable donor car, is there anything special about the hoses? Do I need to order them or will some cut-to-length do?
  22. When I was getting on the freeway the other day (right hand cloverleaf onramp), a bunch of white smoke came dumpin out the tail right as I ended the loop and gave it some gas. Is my EGR to blame, 'cause I know my solenoid is bad, or is it the PCV? Or something else.
  23. Thanks Caboobaroo. Just when I got used to all the funky noises my 86 used to spew out, I have to start all over again. Looks like they installed a whole different set of noises on my 87.
  24. Should I be worried if my fuel pump is buzzing loud enough to hear through the floor? I remember hearing it when I used to start up my 86, but not a constant noise like this.
