  2. thanx for the thoughts! and now on to them...codes and light have been reset...timing is right on at 20 degrees..tries to make sure everything is clean according to the codes on the usmb website a code 32 is o2 sensor for an 89 spi......
  3. ok, still pinging, still have the 32 code, swapped the distributor, sprayed carb cleaner around the manifold--no leaks....decided to unplug egr solenoid as i had found that off one time and put it back on...anyway, after unplugging hose and just letting sit there....nothing, no code, no change in idle...nothing.....i would guess that as a minimum i should get a rougher idle because of the hose being off..... thoughts?
  4. qman would love to...but, only have the disty and the front brake pads...no front rotors or rear disc conversion....
  5. anyone want to guide me through a distributor swap tomorrow in the seattle area? be willing to compensate for your time
  6. well, i really need the front brakes done, starting my new job next week which more stop and go stuff which means murder on the brakes...they are still squealing/grinding so need someone to take a look quick like and see what the deal is...had two different opinions from shops so now need an experts opinion...thanks to ed i already have the front pads....need this done asap, maybe this coming sunday? willing to go more then pizza and beer
  7. ok, still have the code 32, still pinging, friend of mine in colorado suggested checking the plugs in case i nicked the gap going in, also suggested removing a wire one at a time to see if the idle went rougher or no change...well, the gaps were fine but when i removed either plug wire on the passenger side, 1&3 i believe, there didnt seem to be a change in the idle....somehow that doesnt seem right...is it time to do a compression check?
  8. used premium chevron/shell/76/texaco....still pinging...
  9. umm, once again i must plead stupidness and would like to ask for a pic
  10. what can i tap into to use the seafoam in my 89 spi? brake booster?
  11. yep, code 32..o2 sensor...havent tried the battery thing yet and ummm,(cough cough) anyone have a pic of the egr tube and valve? i am mechanicly challenged
  12. timing is at 20degrees...advance it more and it gets real loud...less and the ping seems to be better but its a dog then...thermostat stays pretty low all the time, probably around 1/4....
  13. well, disconnected the o2 sensor and big deal...still pings badly....correct heatrange ngk plugs...new wires....premium fuel from either chevron/shell or 76...timing is correct...is it time for seafoam in the gas tank and if so what is the prescribed method?? did a search and there are various ways of doing it...i have an 89 spi wgn....didnt know if i should just put in a few gallons and then a whole can of the stuff....run it dry...then do it again...or fill it up and add a can...blah blah blah....any help would be appreciated as i really am getting concerned about the pinging and with the heat here and a new job starting soon i really dont need car problems..... thanx!
  14. well, disconncected the o2 sensor at the connector, will see how she runs for the next few days...fingers crossed as the premium gas is killing me at $2.63 gal and with my new job starting soon its a 66mile roundtrip.....
  15. want to disconnect that o2 sensor this afternoon...can i just snip and cap the wire or do i have to disconnect at the connection on top of the engine?
  16. have run many tanks of premium from different brands and no change..pinging started when cel came on with a 32 code....
  17. hmm, shall i try and just disconnect the sensor at the top and leave it in the cat and see what happens? car is pinging still real bad and i wouldnt mind a little drop in gas mileage if i can get the ping to go away
  18. highrise console for ea82 gl's...not for loyales
  19. ok, thanx to mark(xsnrg) i've got some nice comfy gl10 seats, now, how shall i clean them? a little bit of staining on them and just basic dirt but the fabric is different then the cloth so i am not sure how to go about cleaning them up...
  20. well, got off early from work again decided to stop by scwab and they said the pads were fine but the rotors are toast...all glazed....so, i guess its jy time for rotors or just buy new...and then will do a rear disc brake conversion later.. just to let people know, i WOULD do it myself if i had the skills/tooks/knowledge to do it...i dont, so am willing to pay someone to do it, some of us have zip mechanical apptitude and i am real close to that...i don't really like announcing that to the whole world but its true....so take it easy on me a bit
  21. i actaully have some $ NOW, dont know how long it will last so everyone give me your recommedations....
