Power Shift

powershift BAD! that said its not a bad thing to know how to do. This goes along with double clutching. Power shifting has gotten me home on a broken clutch cable. Dad was a professional driver and taught me how. Now i am not responsible for you screwing up your transmission. when you shift normally, watch your tach. you want to keep your road speed steady and see how far the rpms drop. To powershift you must be able to do the same thing. If the rpms drop by 500, then you have to drop them by 500 using your right foot, and not let the road speed drop too much. Sometimes its easier to do it on a down shift then an upshift (only this time your raising engine rpm) . There is a sweet spot where you can put the car in gear. Do not force it, but you have guide it in. Grinding is bad. After a few attempts at this, if you cant do it, give up. Its not worth screwing up your gears. nipper -
he can also rent a reader from autozone and see things in real time. Then he can check the code when the light is on. i am pretty sure the gas cap does not apply to a 1998, as my 98 legacy would never throw a light with cap off. I think that hs to do with 2001 or newer. My gut feeling is a lazy 02 sensor is throwing a code. nipper

It's really very simple. Divide 1 lb by the surface value of gravity of the earth (32.174 ft/sec^2) to get mass in slugs. Then multiply mass in slugs by surface value of gravity of any other body of consideration (such as Mars) to know the weight there. And of course, it works the other way around too. For your specific question, divide 1 lb by Mars surface gravity and multiply by Earth surface gravity nipper aka mad sciencetest

how many miles are on this car. All throwout bearings clip ont to the fork. The noise can be confusing, but subarus usually die by synchro failure, not a bearing failure. If you have a long hill, get the car rolling down the hill where you can hear the noise. Engage the clutch, and shut off the engine. Leave the tranny in gear. If its the tranny the noise will still be there. If its the hrowout bearing it wont. nipper nipper

Bad news, once Torque bind shows up in a manual, its already too late. Once you have torque bind in a manual, you cant make it any worse by driving the car, as its already fried. You need a new vscous coupling along with other parts (maybe a center diff). It is CRITICAL on a manual that all the tires are inflated the same. A automatic is much more forgiving, a manual is not. Driving on a low tire or a flat will burn the VC quickly. nipper
