  1. how is MAF sensor different? i thought the RX's MAF was bad because its broken, (put it on good engine in GL and it wouldnt stay running) should they work swapped?? the RX had sat for a while and a lot of electrical is bad (fuel pump, MAF sensor, fuel pump relay) and will varnished gas clog up injectors or lines anywhere? if i put gas in throttle body with parts all swapped over from GL (pump, MAF, and pump relay) it will fire but doesnt stay running
  2. I have a Rx with ea82t and Gl with ea82t, and was wondering if anybody knew any differences between the engines. First thing I noticed was that the Rx's wastegate goes directly to intake, and on the Gl the wastegate hose goes to a switch then another goes to intake
  3. I have an '87 1/2 Gl Turbo and after I took the intake off I noticed some dirty looking oil that appears to be coming from either the turbos intake side or maybe the small hose on intake right before the turbo Its not losing any noticeable amount of oil or coolant Can seals or bearings be replaced by disassembling turbo?
  4. RX's all came with limited slip differential. would be just like posi when turning should say LSD on diff. but not too sure cuz my RX is locked just like that and it doesnt say its limited slip and is possible that it could have been welded
  5. i mean full swap to natural aspiration (dual headers, spfi cams, spfi pistons) was thinking mpfi heads because two 2 barrel webers would go perfect with the divided intake ports even just using the dual port intake mpfi heads on a carbed ea82 so that each cylinder would have its own carb barrel i have 87 RX that im keeping turbo and was gonna experiment with ea82t in my 87 GL i know its a lot of modding and fab work but would be dependable and awesome if entirely possible
  6. so ive been looking into dependability of my ea82t, and was wondering if anyone has ever used the ea82t dual intake mpfi heads for a dual 2 barrel carb set up obviously would require mods to distributor and fuel system, but would it be worth the conversion for the dependability of being carbed instead of turbocharged
  7. sorry i meant to put pistons on first part :-p i was thinking of how the turbo heads have a little different style cams for valve overlap
  8. the blocks all say "ea82" turbo or not. the heads on turbo engines are modified for lower compression and in my experience the ea82 turbo is great with the right maintenance and care my 87 GL Turbo has 235,000 miles 100% stock w/5-speed push button AWD, and running strong enough to twist the driveline yoke pulling a ford :-p
  9. very true on the turbo issue of cracking or bursting rubber lines never happened with my car, but I wrapped all of the cooling lines and nearby wires with thermal wrap no problems if you take proper precautions and lots of fun to go with
  10. idk about turbos being a downfall, cuz i have a 100% stock '87 GL turbo with push button awd and its got 235,000 miles. only thing i've had to fix so far is a timing belt broke and rebuilding the driveline yoke cuz it twisted pulling a ford :-p and it definitely has more power than the non turbo ea82's
