  1. I wouldn't bother with the socket. A box end wrench (either 17 or 19 mm, I can't recall) will slip over the connector and works fine. Good luck.
  2. I just replaced mine 2 weeks ago. I went with the walker 4 wire universal based on recomendations from this board. While not a direct swap it did make a nice difference in idle as others have reported. The walker unit was high quality and I would not hesitate to use it again over the oem bosch sensor. Your correct in that there is no need to jack up or lay under the vehicle to do this job. If the sensor you select doesn't come with antisieze compound, (the walker did) get some.
  3. To answer your question: Yes. I put a double din 6 disc changer stereo from an '02 WRX into my '95 legacy. It's a direct bolt in/plug in swap that can be had for under 150$ off of Nasioc.
  4. Nice. I'd paint the door trim to tie it all together. Looks good.
  5. I crimped and soldered the leads. There is a small hole in the center of the crimp connector to apply the solder through. I extended the ground about 3 feet, zip tied it to the wiring harness along the firewall over to the gound points on the strut tower. Mine didn't want to budge either when things were cold. After letting the engine get up to operating temp it broke loose with no problem. Good luck.
  6. It's tomorrow. The new O2 sensor has made a huge difference in idle. Nice and smooth. Hopefully my MPG's will go back up as well.
  7. Yep, everything is there. The cable for the cruise runs and mounts right along the accelerator cable. Just adjust it so there is no slack and it's not opening the throttle. For $50 it can't be beat.
  8. Here's another link to a gm alternator swap. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15473&highlight=alt+swap
  9. The part number for a universal 4 wire 02 sensor is 250-24000. This is made by Walker and costs $46.95 from oxygensensors.com. It's going in my '95 legacy tomorrow.
  10. Well, I just finished installing the factory cruise kit on my '95 Legacy sedan MT. It was pretty easy. The hardest part was fitting the control unit up behind the glove box and working under the dash putting in the safety switches. You will need a T30 security torx (the one with a hole in the center) bit to remove the air bag. They are torqued down so I, put the bit into a 1/4" socket to break it free. Otherwise just basic tools are needed. Had it in and tested in just under two hours. Definatley a worthwhile upgrade. -Handtool
  11. I'll let you know next week. I don't forsee any problems, the instructions are detailed and seem pretty straight forward.

  13. The Part # for the Gen 2 legacy is H7010AC000 http://www.1stsubaruparts.com/ the kit lists for 54$
  14. The models equipped with power steering had longer thermostat housings to clear.
  15. I paid $2000 for a '95 legacy sedan with 150K. Body and interior were in good shape tho. No maitenance paperwork. I would have gladly paid $2500 for proof of maintenace. I say if you can live with the condition of the interior/exterior you will get your $2500 out of it mechanically.
  16. Hammer a screw driver thru and break it free. Messy, but it always works. Put the new filter on hand tight.
  17. I'd did the 3M windoweld treatment to my motor mounts about 3 years ago. Never again. I let them cure for 3 days and then put everything back together. The heat from the y-pipe melted all the windoweld out after the first day of driving. What a mess. I ended up just getting some good junkyard motor mounts. If your going to do it make sure you let that stuff cure. Good luck.
  18. Your oil pressure is pretty normal for these engines. Almost exactly what I'm reading on my aftermarket mechanical oil guage.
  19. Kinda sounds like an air suction valve. Emissions stuff. Edit: Doh! Beat me to it.

  21. I liked this idea for wagons. You could also lay the rear seats down to hide the rifles when your not near your car.
  22. Cool, that makes sense. Now the smaller line on the water pump that goes to the heater core, is that a feed or a return? Thanks.
  23. '95 legacy, EJ-22. Can somebody confirm that the coolant is pulled from the block and pushed through the radiator by the water pump? Or is the pump fed by the radiator? Thanks.
  24. Anybody know the inside diameter of the heater hose for a 2nd gen Legacy? 5/8? 3/4?
