  1. I think your talking about the hill holder. You can disconnect it to adjust your clutch without any adverse affects other than losing the hill holder feature.
  2. Tried out the Air conditioning yesterday in my '95 2.2 Leagcy sedan. It blows nice and cold but there is a loud click when the compressor comes on (relay?) and a VERY noticable drag when it's on. The car will actually decellerate when the compressor engages. It seems to cycle on and off very frequently. I know the 2.2 has limited power but is this normal? I tried checking the little window on the condensor with out much luck. Should I have the A/C system check out by a shop? Thanks.
  3. Yes, the green wire is for the back-up light disable. I just finished putting it in and its a nice addition. I recommend it.
  4. 1stsubaruparts.com lists the OEM front axel assy for a '97 Outback MT as $100.76. If I wanted something new, I'd let raxels.com keep their $50 pocket knife and go that route. A lot of people here are very happy with the quality of cvaxels.com, myself included, but if your worried about warranty or the hassel of shipping back a core you can probalby get into a lifetime warranty axel at autozone for 75$. They are not the best quality and sometimes it can be a hassle getting them to honor the warranty but its an option.
  5. Never heard of raxles.com but here's a vote for cvaxels.com. Great people over there. He gives a military discount if you've served or are serving and if not, mention the board, they'll take care of you.
  6. So the legacy and the outback run the same springs? Or would you sit a bit higher if you ran outback springs as well? Hopefully not another "dumb question".
  7. Oxygensensors.com. They have the 4-wire. Call them. You can find the part number here.
  8. I'm running '04 WRX struts with '03 WRX springs on my '95 Legacy. Why, you ask? Because I got the stuff dirt cheap. It works, but I wouldn't spend a bunch of money to go this route. The suspension is much stiffer and the Leg handles better but I miss the smoother ride. It also sits lower in the rear. I can stick my fist in between the tire and fender up front but only get about two fingers in between in back. Looks funny but it gets me from A to B. Nasioc is a good resource for impreza info and cheap parts.
  9. I'm trying to retrofit an auto dimming mirror with compass into my '95 Leg. Its a donnelly unit out of an '03 Outback. I've figured out the power and ground wires but I still have a third green wire. Can anybody confirm that this is the autodim disable for back up lights? Meaning the mirror comes out of "dim mode" when you put it in reverse. Does an '03 Outback have that feature? Thanks.
  10. 1stsubaruparts.com has genuine subaru inners and outers for 30-35$ a piece. I'd do it all at once. You'll notice a bigger improvement in the steering of your wagon and you'll only need to do the alignment once.
  11. I'm pretty sure these do. Genuine subaru factory upgrade. Let me know if your interested.
  12. My guess is its the plastic end pieces on each rail vibrating against the roof. Pull them out and see if the noise stops.
  13. Beautiful! I'm in the market. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay?
  14. I like the gimbled ones like this. You can take corners at any speed.
  15. Check it out. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27178&highlight=parts+list+timing+belt+number%2A
  16. http://www.1stsubaruparts.com/ The best prices I have found so far on line from a dealer.
  17. Miles, I need the passenger's front door glass. Email coming your way.
  18. Thanks for the info and idea. Too bad I only have liability insurance and a 500$ deductible. Tom, sounds good please let me know. Since they didn't steal my tools I wouldn't say my a$$ is burnt, but it's definately chaped. When changing out the window is it easier to replace just the glass or do I need to replace the whole rail system as well. Will the glass even seperate from the rails? Thanks.
  19. I talked to a shop a few months ago about tinting the windows of my legacy sedan. They quoted 250$ for quality materials and a lifetime warrenty. You could probably find it cheaper but keep in mind your wagon has a little more glass.
  20. Don't know why, they didn't steal anything. I had a bunch of craftsman tools, maglight and a nice head-unit all there for the taking. So I guess it could have been worse. Anyway, what years will the passenger side front door glass interchange with a '86 GL wagon? Will Loyale glass fit? I've got manual windows. Can I use glass from a car with electric windows? Anybody got one for sale they'd like to ship?
  21. I've had the timing from 12 degrees BTDC to 4 BTDC. Didn't affect pinging so I'm running about 10 degrees right now. I'm buying gas at costco, it's the cheapest in the area. When I put the weber on all emissions stuff came off, including the EGR. I guess I'll try some different brands of fuel and see what happens before I start looking into recurving the disty.
  22. What can I do to get the '86 weber'd EA-82 to like regular gas. It pings like crazy if I don't use premium. I've retarded the timing, and cleaned the topend with a seafoam treatment. Still no love. What's next? Recurve the disty? Premium is getting expensive. Thanks.
