sorry man this "subaru never made a convertable, there were some custom ones made by a dealer in texas that are very rare." is really all i know about them. just curious, I know it's an 83 Gl sedan, is it a manual or auto? 2wd or 4wd?

sorry for the really late reply, but I have been very busy with college. I am mainly using the loyale for the drive from my house to the college, driving my brat only once or twice a week I will get around to checking out my problem soon, starting with getting the battery and alt checked. thanks. - AK

I went to drive my brat yesterday and when I started it I noticed that the "stop light" and "brake fluid" lights and the red warning light next to the battery all stayed on (even with the engine running, and ebrake off and topped off brake fluid and the battery gauge a little above 12). and when I used my turn signals, they would stay on, no flashing. I checked all my lights (no blown bulbs) and they work fine except the signals not flashing and those 3 lights on the panel. any ideas as to what this is, maybe that "thing" that makes them flash broke? but then what about the panel lights?

we don't get our older cars emission's checked, in pa if you put less than 5,000 miles a year on your car you can get an "emissions exempt" sticker, so you don't have to get it done, so my brat, loyale, and dads truck and TR7 get their guage packs replaced when they get close to the 4500 mile mark, when inspection time comes, the olds pack goes back in and it looks like they only have under five grand on them. p.s. pa doesn't do smog, they just check to make sure the emissions are there, but my brat is missing most of it's as do the rest of the "exemptables"

would you consider cutting out the bed and replace it with a huge section of diamond plate? it's just a thought, it seems like a severe solution (it's a severe problem though) and there would be some dificulties, but I'm not sure how to handle that spot. I was lucky to have only a small hole in that area. my dad and I have done what alot of people would call some pretty extensive rust repairs and restorations, I have pics of my brats restoration on my cardomain page, it would give you some tips on replacing things. good luck, you have a long road ahead of you. P.S. you have alot more to cut out of that bed than the circled area.

sounds more like Subaru heresy. some pics would be cool though -AK

it's a 93 2WD auto EJ18 imprezza it's a car of a friend of mine, I saw the gauge drop from a 3/4 tank down to 1/8 of a tank in the distance of about 200 feet! it then started to rise slowly, didn't go far enough to see if it went all the way back up, but she said it raises and drops "all the time" what could be wrong, sticking floater?, bad connection to the gauge? anybody else have this happen to them? -AK.

http://members.cardomain.com/bratboy It's a mostly stock 1984 subaru Brat That my father and i restored, with pics of restoration. how do you "attach" images to an email, I usually just put them in the email itself? -
I was doing 85+ on the way to carlisle, most of the way down, except on hills:rolleyes:

yeah, I get it now it's just that I am pretty compulsive about having things nice and even, and I just couldn't see why 1.8L? why not 2.0L? now i see how they increased it over time, and it makes sense, also not all people are concerned for having things as even as I do.
-
does anybody know why the 1.8L is a popular size engine?, why not just round it up to 2.0?
