West Coast Subaru Show 15!
Sadly, Wedge doesn't get to go. Too many things need to be looked at, too little time to do it in.

It's an EA82. It don't matter what shape they are in, they have a special place in one's heart.

West Coast Subaru Show 15!
Registered and can't wait! Road trip! Now, time to do a full check of the PandaWagon from bumper to bumper to make sure it'll make it there and home again in one piece. From where this show is located, looks like we can take one route to the show and a different route home and there's only about a 20 mile difference.

Will WCSS be worth it for Old Gen owners?
I've been to many a WCSS and I live in Southern AZ! Always a blast to hang out with fellow Suby owners. On average, I'm usually over 1400 miles from home. Last year, it was just over 1800 miles from home. But the PandaWagon made it there and back with very little trouble.

How are you handling the fuel level gauge? Are you using the existing sender or replacing it?

Went racing again: I had a blast, didn't place though. Course, if I hadn't blasted through those two gates, I may have had a chance. The course was fast and bumpy which made the PandaWagon's tail fly all over the place. I think I need to loosen things up just a wee in the back. It's quite tail happy.

Falls flat on it's face when it's cold and wet out
subynut replied to subynut's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo, it's far stronger than that. That flexible hose came with the K&N filter. It was almost a cardboard material - reminded me of the flexible hose you get for the heat risers on carbed cars. I plan on getting actual pipe and plumb it that way.

Yeah, I think it was just the summer heat. It's been on and off the car for the past two or three years, one of those times was to Subiefest in the middle of summer - wanted cooler air since I was AutoX'in at the show that year.

Ha ha. Well, that flexible tubing came with the K&N filter. It's a whole lot stronger than dryer hose. It just cannot take the extreme under hood temps I experience here in the desert. Yes, a pipe would be much better. I haven't decided how I will do it, yet.

That's the flexible hose from the PandaWagon's frankenintake to the fender where I was grabbing cooler air. The flexible hose collapsed and blocked off just about the entire opening into the filter assembly.

Well..... That might explain the wonky acceleration!

Pulled that out and no more bucking bronco in the cold and wet! I have lost my cold air intake, but at least the engine can breathe again.

subynut replied to subynut's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPlugs and wires are NGK, they were brand new when I put that engine in. Now that I think about it, that was about.......20K miles ago. Hmmmm...

Falls flat on it's face when it's cold and wet out
subynut replied to subynut's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo, I took it out later today and it hiccuped once. I backed out of the throttle, then got back in and it leaned out. I let it pull to about 5000, but the AFRs started getting too close to 16:1, so I backed off and the ratios dropped back to around 14-15:1. Car is not happy at all. I'm gonna take it easy on the way home and do some serious snooping under that hood. I don't know what it's problem is. But, this wet weather is wreaking havoc of the PandaWagon. It longs for those 10% humidity days.

Falls flat on it's face when it's cold and wet out
The PandaWagon has developed this incredible hatred towards cold wet weather. On my way to work this morning, I took off from a light, got through 1st, 2nd, then to about 4K in 3rd, and it bucked and sputtered something fierce. AFRs hit 7:1, at one point. I could watch it, as I approached 4K, the AFRs would just start going mad rich. This happens only if I'm more than 2/3ds throttle and above 4K RPMS. It was that way all the way to work. If I kept the RPMS below 4K, I could use as much throttle as I wanted. But if I was above 4K, then it would start being ridiculously stupid with more than 2/3ds throttle. It was in the mid 60's this morning and fairly humid. Not sure if that would make a difference. It first showed up on Saturday on my way into town. But only once. One of those "What was that?!?" kind of moments. Here's the specs: This is my 87 Wagon with an EJ swap. It's an EJ25D running on 92 Legacy computer and wiring. TSUDO UEL header with high flow cat, and 2.25" cat back. Intake is a custom SRI grabbing air from the fender. I need to do some errands later today, will see if it does it again in the warmer weather.

The PandaWagon has an EJ25 in it, so, it doesn't have a distributor. I have Cam and Crank angle sensors, ignitor, and the coil pack. I've had my hand on the coil pack while it is running and felt no shocking experiences.

The PandaWagon hates cold wet weather. This morning, on my way to work, I could not go beyond 4K with anything more than 2/3s throttle. It bucks and kicks, sputters, and just says "NO!". AFR is hitting 9:1 or richer during this time and no CELs either. I don't get it. Saturday, when I had it out, it did it in the morning, but once the weather warmed up, it was fine. Although, the CEL kicked on on my way home, code 13. According to the FSM, that's the CAM sensor. I checked the wiring and it's OK. I do have a spare CAM sensor, so, I'll be swapping that tonight. This is not good, we have a RallyX on Saturday!

The only two tone ea82 wagon in my town is my wagon. Speaking of which, we had one of our typical Arizona rain showers consisting of 25 drops per square mile and speckled the PandaWagon with dirt spots. Just had to clean her: All clean now:

I'm curious why the switch to an air to air intercooler. I thought the air to water intercoolers were a better setup, just costs more? Or is there not enough space for the AWIC radiator, A/C condenser, and the cooling system radiator?

Welcome to the wonderful world of flying door stops, Twitch! Pics? The PandaWagon's tranny is being difficult lately so, I'm making my XT6 the daily driver while I decide what to do about a replacement tranny.
