  1. Yes, for most owners, that is the way to go. But only when the N/A EA82 has had it. But in my book, the EA82T should be swapped with an EJ right away. Turbo or not, it's still a jump in power and a giant leap in reliability.
  2. That EA81 digi dash is awesome! REALLY want something like that in the PandaWagon!
  3. That's a bummer. What's your plan? Fix the EA82T, EJ swap it, or are you calling your Roo done and will find another Roo to replace it?
  4. That sounds like my old blue wagon. Below 28 would bring out all the weird sounds - screaming from the dash, blinker switch didn't work, only speed 3 on the fan would work, and it would blow only in the defrost position. To name a few. Of course it had other quirks on the other end of the spectrum - above 90 would bring out either the bucking bronco idle or the 5000 rpm idle and a blinking CEL. Check the codes: No codes. Anywhere between those two temps, the car ran flawlessly!
  5. Seems that when it's cold outside, PandaWagon's in-dash volt meter does not want to work. I have an auxillary volt meter and it showed all was OK. Will confirm later when it warms up a bit. (To a desert rat, 35 degrees is COLD. What's great? It will be back in the upper 70's by wednesday!) PandaWagon also had a little trouble starting this morning, then I stalled it pulling out of the driveway and it took a little work to get it started again. No CELs, so, I'm gonna check for leaks in the intake tract from the throttle body to the MAF.
  6. That will help out in both power AND mileage departments!
  7. I believe it sits above the hood release against the wall. It's a black box with a six or eight pin connector. I'll take a look at my sister's '87 to make sure later tonight.
  8. Great collection of Brat pics there, Rust!
  9. Yes. There's a little box under the dash that monitors the tach signal. As long as it sees pulses from the ditsy, it will keep the fuel pump running. This is Subaru's way to kill the fuel pump in an accident situation on Carbed Ea82s.
  10. We have black and red. Here's a white one:
  11. You're welcome. I'm glad you were able to find the problem and fix it.
  12. Nice shots!
  13. Most likely it is bad. However, we should try to adjust it to see of it is just a wee out of spec. If your TPS has a three pin connector, you can follow the instructions in the FSM for the 97 Legacy in the link I posted earlier in this thread. They're close enough in this situation.
  14. We represented old school Subaru at Cars in the Park! PandaWagon got third in it's class: Brought Wedge too: and my sister took hers also: We had three of the 4 Subarus there out of 350 cars. The most comments I overheard: "Why is there soo much space under the hood?" Then you hear someone else say "The spare tire goes there!"
  15. Pull the brakes, backing plates and hubs from a 2WD XT6. Or, contact Crossbred Performance - ShawnW on here is a distributor for them.
  16. Intermittent? Is it related to air temps or humidity levels? Does it show up or leave after a good bump in the road? Did you get a chance to check the TPS and throttle cables? Have you tried pulling the IAC electrical connector while it's misbehaving and does the idle change? This is quite puzzling.
  17. Hmmmm....those seats give me an idea.....
  18. 1.5" spacers, eh? And that gave you enough room? Cool! How much did that change the angles of the control arms?
  19. Ok, I've gone through this thread thrice now, but I don't see how you did it. What did you do to get that 6 speed in there? From what I have read, the 6 speed is too large for the tranny tunnel, but you squeezed it in there. How?
  20. Road trip! My sister and I took our wagons to SubieFest and participated in the AutoX. Had a blast! I came in second in my class and my sister came in 4th. We had a ball - the new skool guys thought it was cool seeing the old skool cars out there too. It was awesome!
  21. Welcome! You have found the best place for old school Subaru info!
  22. From what I have read here, they should be pretty hard. They always were in my EA82s. Usually, when they were soft is when I would have the noisy lifters.
